  • having the same problem with mine it worked fine the last time i used it now it just like eats the paper

  • I love the interwebzzzz o_o Shook mine upside down also and a piece of a colored pencil came out. Totally works now, woot!

  • @xkayristinx lol same. A bit of plastic came out. thank you internet!!!

  • This is crazy, but I pushed a piece of photo paper through & an ink pen came out the other side. Now my printer works great. Thanks for this post.

  • THANK YOU!!!! :) I was kinda skeptical....but knew it had to be SOMETHING. Shaking it didn't help, but I cut the plastic cover off an old notebook (Didn't have cardboard) Had to work with it, but got a small cup hook out of it! :P Saved me some money! THANKS!!!!!

  • FCK YEAH SHOOK IT UPSIDE DOWN AND FOUND A CANDY WRAPPER STUCK INSIDE :| HAHAHAH THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!

  • God bless the internet. I couldn't find a piece cardboard thin enough to run the rollers. However picking it up and shaking it while upside down fixed the problem. Thanks to all the posters. I am shocked youtube comments actually useful! A first for everything.

  • @findingcory AMEN

  • YESSS!!!! Shaking it up and down WORKED!!!

  • good ish my dude..cardboard worked like a charm!!

  • Yep, same here...the cardboard trick worked....found the 'long lost' paperclip :-)

  • Use a Credit Card instead of cardboard etc. You can the push the card inside the rollers from the front or back, sliding it from one side to the other until you find the obstruction.

    I found an SD card.

  • @henslecd you lost an SD card inside the printer? O.o

  • The cardboard really did work!! Thankyou!

  • So My mother-in-law had the same problem as everyone else and I just Googled an answer and this video and subsequent comments came up. We laughed for a good while at all the things that ppl were finding (walnuts, glass, sharpies, 59 pennies lol) and my mother-in-law is like there's nothing in my printer but dust. Did the cardboard trick..what falls out. An ALLEN WRENCH. SMH while LOL :^D

  • The cardboard trick worked for me too. I used a sheet of thick paper from a manila folder. Nothing came out but the printer worked afterwards. Where would we be without internet? I would probably try to take this throw-away printer apart with unpredictable result. Thank you all for your advice.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  • shaking wouldn't work for me so i jammed a bit of cardboard through and pulled it back out and sure enough there was a tablet stuck in the printer. Awesome!

  • Omg I did the card phone book thing and it worked like a charm thanks guys!!! a tag came out of it thank you soooooooo much now I don't have to buy a new one :)

  • Nice.

  • new vid coming ........how to smASH A MP 280TO TINY FING PIECES!!!

  • Yessssss!!! I just fixed mine! Ripped a cover off a phone book (firm paper but not thick like cardboard. Stuck it in good and pulled the rest out and out pops a piece of walnut. Thanks Dad....

  • My printer wont even take the paper through the feeder! It just sits there and gives me the error code. I tried shaking it and I can hear a little noise. Sounds like sand or something.

  • First I tried jamming a peice of card (300gsm) I thought that did nothing then I gave it one last shake upside down and a 20 cent piece fell out!

  • Can anyone help me here? My printer tells me it has a paper jam, but the papers are fine and all the settings are correct. Although, not too long ago I accidentally dropped a pen that went in where the paper usually goes down, but I've never been able to take it out. Any of you can please give me any suggestions or ways I can take that pen that is most likely causing the paper jam? Please and thank you.

  • THE CARDBOARD TRICK!!! - WORKED LIKE A CHARM

Open the lid of your printer and push a cardboard through the paper feeder. A small piece of paper came out. It was sooo small it hid perfectly between the rollers.

Hope it works for you too!

  • @jrivera339 I love u!

  • @jrivera339 I can't thank you enough! I put a glossy photo like paper through the feed and it pushed out one of those empty plastic benadryl wrappers!

  • @jrivera339 OMG I had this problem and tried the cardboard trick and WOW my printer got screwed!!! No seriously, a tiny screw went flying across the room after shoving the cardboard through....

  • Shaking it really works. A lid fell out of mine. :)

  • I shook mine upside down and a fruit pit fell out of it. Now it works!

  • turning it upside down worked for me, i had a pen in there -___-

    lol

  • dude i thought the video was gonna show a solution. i have been heving this problem for a long time now and i was all excited but you just filmed your problem

  • Omg a pen fell out of mine, thanks

  • Wow the cardboard really worked found our missing Easy Pass suction cup!!

  • Freaking Kidding me...After putting my big toe to the printer and hand slapping it. I read how people had stuff in it. Surely enough the clip from my keyboard fell into it. Who would ever hate YouTube. Thank you all

  • Freaking Kidding me...After putting my big toe to the printer and hand slapping it. I read how people have stuff in it. Surely enough the clip from my keyboard fell into it. Who would ever hate YouTube. Thank you all

  • I pulled up the small while rollers with a screwdriver and I had a hair band stuck in mine! I was 5 mins ways from binning it after getting very angry that it had broken down outside the warranty period after printing just 10 pages. This is obviously a common problem with this design of device. Canon should update their user manual !!

  • A huge thank you for the cardboard idea, it worked liked a charm! A lead holder full of 7 mm leads had fallen into it! Thanks!!!

  • OMG i shook my printer and 2 pens came out... LOL

  • The cardboard really worked! I pushed it from the front (where the paper comes out) and found 52 pennies near the paper feeder. The printer works fine now. Thanks a million for this advice!

btw my printer is Canon Pixma mp170.

  • I have the same problem but he diplay E2 :(

  • i could hear something in there, sounded like a coin. I unscrewed some things from the back so it was more open and so the object had more area to fall out of. I shook the hell out of it and i penny and a sharpie marker fell out of it. The skinnier kind, not the fat kind. I have no idea how it got in there but it works perfectly now!! this video and all the comments were very helpful!

  • im sceptical of quick fixes and was frustrated cause I just bought 70 bux worth of ink. I had the same jam problem. Amazingly shaking it upside down worked for me. Thnx guyz.

  • @cookquay lmao.

  • I searched this and have the same problem.

I turned my printer upside down and a platic eating knife was in there lol

...... u can find anything in a printer. PROBLEM SOLVED.

    u probably have something inside.

  • lol i had the something stuck in mine 2 but it didn't come out when i turned it over i had to stick my hand in and i found a screw in it :) yay im just glad it works

  • my printer's too. It always jams. I tried to fix it with cardbox, it didn't work. I turned it upside down, and it doesn't work too. I didn't know how to do then, so I hit it with a hammed at back, and yes IT WORKS! I can begin working again.

  • IT ALSO WORKED FOR ME, JUST HOLD IT UPSIDE DOWN AND SHAKE IT!

  • I have a Canon MP258.The paper feeder is always open. One day, the feeder does not want to roll paper in anymore. I turn it upside down and shake it, does not work. I push a card board through the feeder, does not work too.

Finally I pushed a cardboard from the front (where printed paper came out), and push it through until the cardboard came out at the back where the paper feeder is. Walahhhh.. a pin board came out.

  • Pick you printer up and shake it.

    I can't believe that worked.

  • I can't find a suitable cardboard so I tried the "second method". Hold the printer upside-down, shake it hard, and a PEN comes out. :|

  • There are several types of printing technology to choose from, each suited for different needs.

    ww.stmt.yolasite.com

  • Yay. i fix it!. thanks.

just turn the printer upside down and shake it. there is something stuck on it.

  • Cardboard trick is a God send. Feed a thin piece of cardboard through the rollers and flip printer upside down (give a little shake) and out comes_____ (fill in the blank) for me it was a small piece of glass from one of my portraits I remember getting smashed next to the printer. haha!

  • there was an alligator clip in mine! thank you. I used a sealed sticker sheet, pushed it through the bottom and out came the alligator clip. Thank you!

  • CAN SOMEONE PLEASE INFORM ME WHAT THE HELL THE CARDBOARD TRICK IS?!?!

  • what cardboard thing? I need to fix the same problem

  • Worked perfectly. I haven't a clue how a twist tie made it into the rollers. Thank you so much for posting your problem and that you everyone else for posting the solution :-)

  • The forcing cardboard through the feeder works. MP160. It was a piece of lead from a pencil. Wtf.

  • Comment removed

  • Saved by the cardboard trick. One small screw found, fallen in from the shelf above the printer. Thank you for the solution. Used a notebook cover and worked it through the paper path backwards pushing the "cardboard" between the set of 8 white rollers and the black wide roller inside the printer. When it shows up in the feeder pulled it through and removed the screw that was cause for the jam. Works nice now.

  • let me try the cardboard thing on my MP150.

  • What is the cardboard trick? Forcing a sheet of cardboard through the printer did not help. Occasionally a sheet of paper comes through. E3 means front door closed but it is open.

  • I did the cardboard trick and a piece of an earplug foam came out!

  • cardboard trick works for me too. I got peanut :P

  • IT WORKED!!!

  • It worked! Thanks an enormous bunch!

  • yep, cardboard trick worked for me too on a model M240 ... just found my sisters hair rubber

  • I cant believe it, the cardboard tricked worked! Thanks guys, saved me a wad of cash!!

  • Holly Shit Cardboard!! Who would have ever though !!!! I had a twisty tie in Mine LMAO

  • Cardboard worked for me thanks a lot :)

  • Card borad worked for me too :) THank You!!

  • Than you it really worked , i had to force it a bit but mo problem.

  • Do you think this would work for canon mp210?

  • The carboard trick works in my Canon Pixma MP450x, with the same paper feeding problem! Thanks!

  • sick, it worked for me too. Thanks ;):d

  • Thanks

  • cant´t belive, but the cardboard trick worket for me to.i found a pack of filter for my weed pipe xD

  • The cardboard trick worked for me too. Amazing thanks mate!

  • amazing. it works great guys! thank you so much!

  • Thanks a lot all of you! my printer works again, thanks to you!

  • Canon MP210 same problem. Turn it upside down first to see what might fall out. Then push a strip of cardboard through the rollers (per Blumm1) . I used a two inch wide piece of cardboard, working it from one end to the other. Used the CB corner to make it go all the way through. As I neared the motorized rollers, I could see something small but my tweezers couldn't grab it. I pushed hard with a new piece of CB and out popped a large seedpod. Those rollers can hide very big objects. Try it!!!

  • First time this happened, printer pulled the paper in a little bit. After messing with it for a long time, I got so mad I jerked the paper out, pulling a toothpick with it.

  • The cardboard trick worked for me!! Nice!

    Thanks.

  • thank you pizza box it helped get my printer working.... Saw the cardboard comment then tried it... So happy it worked.... Thanks guys.

  • I forgot that I had dropped a pencil in there before. So it really was something jammed in there keeping my paper from going through. Funny but true.

  • Cardboad trick worked, thanks blumm1.

  • Thanks!! it worked xD

  • The cardboard worked!

  • The cardboard WORKED !!!!!!! I used a notebook cover and jammed it between the roller and ran a copy. It printed but made a funny sound so I opened up the top and found a twist tie jammed in there.

  • when you look into the printer you will see white plastic rollers. on the right side of that, you will see a hole in it and a little black prong, this black prong is what tells the printer if there is a jam. check that. if something is foreign under it then there is your problem. i just did this to fix my printer 10 min ago.

  • Cardboard thing really worked! I tried this one but didn't find anything that's jamming my paper feed, maybe a hair or dirt. But hey, it fixed my E3 problem.

  • Thank you--it worked for us using a piece of cardstock (not as thick as cardboard). It was a piece of a drinking straw straw wrapper causing the jam!

  • Thanks for the help, I inserted a piece of cardboard and found a nail filer in the paper feeder!

  • @blumm1- thanks so much for your help. My brother gave me an almost new printer which he thought didn't work anymore, I tried your trick and it worked!!! I pulled out a small drum cleaning device!

  • My own Canon MP190 6 months ago had this problem and the cardboard worked perfectly. I have just been given a 2nd hand one, we put a thicker piece of cardboard through and found a drawing pin!

  • I used a piece of plastic milk jug I cut out to slide in from the inside of the printer toward the back where the paper feed is in the back. I gently slipped the thin sheet of plastic between the white plastic rollers and the dark roller and fed it back out the back of the printer freeing up the debris that was stuck in the paper feed. I then turned the printer upside down and the loose debris fell out

  • @kd5inm best procedure..worked perfectly. thank you

  • ATTENTION VIEWERS:the cardboard thing really works!!!!

  • @wh306 Thick cardboard fixed my MP160. I didn't think it would work. Thanks! :)

  • I have the same problem with my Cannon MP210 and I did everything. Put the print upside down, take the print apart...I tried the cardboard thing and working now...

  • @blumm1 I can't believe it. The cardboard trick actually worked!

My girlfriend's grandma gave me her printer after Canon tech support told her it was broken beyond repair. I tried the cardboard trick figuring I didn't have anything to lose, and lo and behold, it pushed out a little bead that had fallen into it. The paper still jammed though, so I tried it again, and ANOTHER bead came flying out! Now the silly printer works like it was brand new. Sweet!

  • i tried taking my printer apart to see what was going on, i had the same problem as this video. After i pretty much destroyed it and gave up, my gf told me to trash it, after it was in the trash i started searching for more info and videos. I came across this one then wondered, i took it back out, and tried the cardboard thing then i heard something snap off and rattle, so i figured i totaly broke it now, turned it upside down and....it was the ball to my gfs piercing that T_T now it works fine

  • If the printer is new, check for any foreign objects inside especially if you have pets or young children in the house-my cat once got something stuck in the printer and it was just making noise and not feeding paper, and saying "printer jam".

I would return it if there's no foreign objects in it and it still jams.

  • BLUMM IS THE SHIZNIT!!!! I was SO mad my printer quit feeding - did the cardboard trick and found a small piece of plastic and it works like a champ again! YAY!

  • it worked for me

    ironically

pushed out some loose threads from a duster i used to clean it

i should by those cans of air instead

  • thnx man cardboard thing really works!!!

  • Oh my goodness, the cardboard thing really works!!! I am so glad that I googled my printer jam and that your video came up!!! THANK YOU!:)

  • Thank you to all those who gave the 'shove a piece of cardboard through it' advice! It worked! ^_^ I found what seems to be a 2 year old cigarette butt in mine...

  • Comment removed

  • Fixed!!! My girlfriends hair barrette was in the rollers... I didn't know what was there (couldn't see it). When I used a flat screwdriver to lift up the white roller guide to check for blockage, it fell out.

  • I followed blumm1's comments and it fixed it!!! Thanks a lot for the tip - you've saved me buying a new printer! I cut up a breakfast cereal packet to get an A4 sized bit of cardboard and pushed that through the printer and, what do you know, the error message E3 then went away!

  • Great - the cardboard tip worked a treat!

  • Brilliant - I tried the cardboard trick and it worked - thank you!

  • @dlringor

    You're the dudeeeeeeeee...

hahahahha...God I can't believe it was that! A pen cover dropped out when I lifted my printer upside down! It's all working perfect now. Thanks alot.. I was going through a nervous breakdown. Magic!

  • i have the same problem withmy printer and i turned my printer upside down after reading comments...guess what i found 2 coins inside.haha

  • No way! Seriously... my printer has been pea sinking me off for months.. I searched and found this video straight away, read the comments, turned my printer upside down ..and found a pen!...BONUS... fixed printer and handy writing implement...thank you so much :) :)

  • this printer sucks!! i have it.. ugh ive been up for hours trying to get this thing to print.

  • Thanks for the cardboard tip. I got a ring!

  • wahahaha!! thanks! the cardboard trick worked for me! thanks a lot! I wonder how it fixed the jam problem. thanks again!

  • i flipped mine and nothing but my issue isnt the feeding it comes up withg error 3 goes halfway then stopped and pushes out the paper

  • works! The the cardboard removed some pesky sticky tack that had wrapped around the rollers

  • Sam exact model called support but warranty had expired since it was a measly 90 days. my paper tilts awkwardly to the left

  • OMG!!! thanks you all sooo much!! i have been trying to fix this damn printer for weeks cuz it wudn't feed my paper! I just tipped it upside down n heard rattling...there was a screw in there!!! Thankyou all for your help!

  • THANKS. I was like wtf, then i turned it upside down and found a pen.

  • ok option B less practical but worked for me unpluged everything picked it up held every thing closed except paper feed and shook it (NOT THE BEST METHOD COULD BRAKE PRINTER WARNING) stuff fell out

  • i turn mine on and it right away says paper jam. cant even scan. i already checked for obstructions, the card board trick, and oiled the rollers. its just not going. good thing i still got that one year warranty. hopefully they can fix or replace the broken part inside.

  • bingo cardboard trick worked first time=] awesome thanks man

  • Yet another printer fixed because of these comments! Found something stuck in mine :) Thanks!

  • Found a pencil in mine! Thank you for the video! I have the exact same problem, now trying to fit our hands down there to fetch it :X

  • omg i just found a bobby pin!! hahahaha classic

  • mines the same its totally gay! how the frick do i fix it? theres nothing in there

  • Same here. Perhaps my fix will help. Take a piece of cardboard like from the back of a legal pad of paper, and force it in through the rollers as far as it will go. Turn the printer off and on to get the rollers working and then pull out the cardboard. Since doing that it feeds the paper in correctly. Hope that works for you too!

  • Thank you so so much. The cardboard dislodged a quarter. This was my last try, I was getting ready to trash it.

  • thank you so so much

it worked for me just now

even though sometimes it just messes up on its own, this helped out my problem alot

i was so stuck..there was nothing in the printer and it said "paper jam" and there were wierd noises coming out. ): i was so worried

  • wow, the cardboard trick worked perfectly, glad I saw this thread or else I would have thrown my printer into the trashcan! thanks blumm1!

  • You're a genius blumm... I was positive I was going to have to buy a new printer!

  • Add me to your list of success stories. it totally fixed my printer. Thanks!

  • thank you so much!! this totally worked! you are genius and have saved me from a huge headache!

  • @blumm1

holy shit your amazing it worked like a charm ;) +1 to you

  • @blumm1

I love you man! you made my day))))

  • @blumm1

Thanks! took me forever n printer does not work not until i saw ur suggestion!!! Thanks soo much ur da man!

  • @blumm1 Thanks, this work for me, piece of plastic popped out and now it works great.

  • @blumm1 Thank you so so much! I first tried turning the printer upside down to hopefully dislodge anything that could be loose, but...nothing. Then I tried your trick of forcing the cardboard through the rollers. I attempted to print again, and the paper came through, along with one of my elastic ponytail holders!! Evidently, forcing the cardboard under the rollers, somehow served to dislodge it! No more paper misfeeds now! Saved me some money, and I really appreciate it. :)

  • @blumm1 Oh my gosh!!! It really really worked!!!! I I forced a piece of cardboard that I ripped off from a box of plain paper and then I saw my husband's basketball air needle coming out of the printer!!!!! Thank you so much for saving money for a new printer!!!!!

  • @mymaple22 I have to add that later on I found out that I actually broke the printer...It can no longer print out multiple pages consecutively. I have to manually add paper one by one in order to print many pages. I guess the cardboard that I used was too thick and the feeder does not load paper one by one anymore. So, BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU FORCE A CARDBOARD!! BE SURE TO USE A CARDBOARD THAT IS NOT TOO THICK!!!!

  • @blumm1 thanx for the tip, really helped, my printer looks like frankenstein but its working lol

  • @blumm1 THANK YOU!! it worked !! i w
