@keijigo This was a port from the SDK. That's why it's laggy. But when it gets the native build with hardware acceleration, the lag will be definitely reduced. I have a Nexus S, can't wait until the proper update drops.
I LOLed so hard when they said in the IOS5 promo that they "took an OS that was already years ahead and they made it even better" and their first selling point was their "new" notification center.
@Gaaryx yeah, but ICS is just getting drag and drop folders now and screenshot which has been available on iOS before, and the browser still sucks. And no, I'm not an Apple troll because I own a Nexus S. Just saying.
@hu0189743 I have Android 2.3.6 on a Google Nexus S which contains vanilla Android. You might be using an OS that was either done by a different device manufacturer. My vanilla OS doesn't have drag and drop nor a proper screenshot functionality. I haven't even received the push for updating to ICS when it's been out for months already.
@nicojr2005 Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket 2.3.5 drap drop, copy paste cloud printing wifi printing stock. screen shot power and home at the same time. folders. yeah your phone sucks in the software department.
@hu0189743 That's what I'm saying. Your features were added by Samsung. Pressing home and power button on my Google Nexus S doesn't do screenshots, nor does it do drag and drop.
@Gaaryx yeah. and now ICS can drag and drop apps to other apps to create folders and have a proper screenshot function. What an improvement when those were already existing in iOS before. I have a Nexus S vanilla Android (2.3.6) and obviously can't do those things. I understand that other OS with bloatware can do it but the base Android OS from Google that I have can't.
What I fear is that device manufacturers will try to ruin the user experience for the sake of differentiation. I used to like the eye candy HTC Sense gave me but now it feels annoying as it gets in the way of using the phone in a more productive manner.
@TheJareBear2012 I'm assuming you are talking about custom gingerbread rom because if it is stock, then no, there is no such thing as swiping away notification (at least none of the android device that are running on stock gingerbread which I have seen can do that).
@eskocz aesthetic taste.. for the OS, or the Hardware? lemme think, Android is the only OS that has live wallpaper. And the only one which can be completely themed.
@MrMurder96 in iOs u can drag down notifications FROM anywhere....even if u are playing games...and NO android 1.0 wasnt even on a TOUCHscreen device...
@CroGameZone Still we had it before you guys, and most notifications i can wait until im done with the game anyway. And YES Android 1.0 was on a touchscreen device, it was the G1 retard, I owned one so i know.
It looks like ICS kind of stole a couple of things from iOS. However, 95% of the iPhone 4S's "new" features were stolen from Android. Notification? OTA updates? Cloud? And they're REALLY falling behind in the customization department(Apple. Not Android).
@turf7227 Yeah because Google came up with Cloud technology and Over the Air updates. And yeah Android never stole anything from iOS. How do you like the Android market, complete Multi-touch capabilities, & Pinch to zoom?
now I see why Steve Jobs was so passionate about getting rid of Googles andriod, they have stolen every phone OS experience including WebOS I mean real the metro look the the scroll bar from Metro the new square flat look of Metro
just a quick question... I have been using 3rd party launcher on my nexus s for as long as I got the phone... anyone know that it would be supported after 4.0? thx in advanced!

@zpithika there actually is a menu button on some apps and the code does provide a way to bring up a virtual menu button for backwards compatibility for apps.
@zpithika the one and only reason that why i changed from iphone to android, was that button. taking it away, for me at least means, being an iPhone. not Android
@gerardco626 how you can use SuperOneClick if your device its on froyo and why cause you can erase a bunch of c@$% that comes with carriers firmwares that you don't want and system apps that you don't use.........so yeah why root lol :-)
@gorothegreat12 it's possible for it to run on it yes (the sII is WAAAAAY more powerful then the nexus s). But I think you mean is there a version of it out for the SII in short no but it will be coming out for it (google said any phone that was sold with gingerbread (so the nexus s and after) will be getting it. Samsung may want to put their own spin on it, like they did with honeycomb, so you may have to wait for that or try and rely on roms from XDA (it's always a rush to see who is first)
For those asking about SGSII, DesireS... This is a PORT from the SDK.
You will get ICS officially, right now only if a kind developer like beezy decides to port it to your phone, which is a bit unlikely as it's coming officially fairly soon.
Just watched Nokia Lumia 800 video.... whaen i started watching this video i got feeling for couple minutes that ISC looks like some old with old icons and seems to be laaggyy OS o.O
@kedaaaa It is not laggy at all I tell you! At least on mine other than ForceCloses and seldom hangs it is one of the smoothest rome I've tried on Android.
@MrNago maybe u have right, but try this: type in Youtube "nokia lumia 800 phonearena" , watch 1st video, then watch this video ; ) I'm not saying that ICS is slow but if we compare it to WP7 on Lumia 800, WP7 definietly runs much smooother. You need to root your phone - use superoneclick - do a search.
Then backup all of your data - you can use Titanium Backup Pro (after you root)
Install Rom Manager - use this to download and install the new ROM.
Do a system reset and enjoy.
