  • Simply Outstanding!!!

  • my brother told me that he thought it was the best cover to that song...

I didn't really understand what he meant, but now I do:)

    than you Marvin Gaye!: )

  • they dont sangggg like this no more. please thumbs up if you feel me!

  • I'll never forget watching a documentary on Marvin and finding out how he died. Then this song came on at the end and I couldn't help bawling my eyes out. I love this man and his music and yes he is truly the best singer to ever live. Love all you fans of him and soon to be. Take care

  • I'm wondering if he thought of Tammi when he sang this, her death broke his heart.

  • i'm honestly a die hard beatles fan and paul is my favorite, but to hear his worked exceeded is just thrilling. <3 you Marvin

  • Wow I just got chills

  • very amazing

  • This ties with the Boyz II Men version for best rendition of the song. Sorry Beatles, nothing against you guys, but these artists brought a soul and feeling you guys are missing.

  • This April Fools joke is going too far.

  • It's like that with all the 50s & 60s music. If you hear a song from that time, then listen to what is out there today - there's no comparison. The artists and musicians had to be genuinely talented and good enough to stand on their own. The talent pool back then had depth and we still haven't heard all the best music they turned out. Do some digging and you'll be amazed at what you can find. Radio statiions - take note!

  • Marvin Gaye was truly the best. There were & r many gifted greats with their own unique styles, but Marvin is uniquely Marvin & over the top...! No singer has ever touched me the way he has.

  • Gaye was awesome but I have to say that I prefer Charles version of this.

  • my 1st time hearing this it classic...easy to listen too.... but i love donny's version a little more........

  • Marvin, though at times a deeply toubled individual was without a doubt one of the very best singers ever.

  • amazing :)

  • mj is king

  • i love this version, his vocal is sheer art

  • the beatles did a cover of this

  • @MrSimba0313 lol...you're funny

  • this is beautiful song

  • Grandissima cover del 9^ sinfonia del '900. wanderfull. McCartney is The best.

  • One of my favorite covers/remakes of a Beatles song! And as a hard core Beatlemaniac that's really saying something.

  • It's amazing how any artist can sing this song and it almost brings me to tears.

  • Just incredible!

  • Real Soulful music died sometime ago...there was just no funeral! How I miss the days of yore in black music...when it didn't matter what you looked like, only that you had genuine talent.

  • Elvis Presleys version is great too check it out !

  • You can just feel this all in your soul!!! He and Sam Cooke were two smooth brothers!!!

  • Marvin has made this song his own. A God-given talent.

  • marvin gaye es de puta madre

  • la voz que impirarado muchos de los que cantan hoy de venzuela tibuorcio gotera

  • 1000 times better than sinara on any ballad song

  • I love this version. I didn't think I would but I can't listen to it enough. It is so sad when such soulful genius is taken away too soon. Nobody touches my soul like Marvin, Patti and Aretha:)

  • was marvin gay? hee hee hee lolololololol

  • FANTASTIC

  • 4 people don't believe in Yesterday!

  • Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow...

  • You notice the music from our generation had so much substance, I know there were silly songs (bubblegum). We wanted peace and equal rights so bad and everytime it seemed like we were making progress someone would take it away from us.Marvin Gayes music is a perfect example. Instead of making music to encourage peace on earth, so many artists today are doing just the opposite. When you watch Marvin's "What Goin On" it shows you just how far we have NOT come. We still have war and racism. Peace !

  • Pure Class. We do miss you Marv

  • Doesn't matter. Music is art, his deviation so far from the original shows the depth of his artistry, the power of the lyrics themselves. And I never heard of a Beatle complaining about his rendition.

  • Had Marvin ever heard the original song? I didn't hear a single note of the Yesterday melody in this. Ray Charles and Etta James knew how to put soul in a great song without absolutely murdering the melody. If singers want to completely disregard the way the songs are written let them write their own songs.

Whatever.Gaye was a major talent and did some great stuff. R.I.P.

  • @DrDeist If we wanted to hear The Beatles version we would listen to it! Marvin is the man!

  • Just imagine if he was still making music to this date...his life was cut short but the music he gave us are truly magic...RIP Marvin Gaye

  • Marvin Gaye’s is the artist that I most identify with.

I tried emulate his music earlier in my life.

    This brother was so sensual…

His Music did provide sexual healing for many of us during lovemaking

The first time I made love, “I want You” was playing on my cassette deck.

His music helped me, and HEALED during some very trying times……

These songs are dedicated to Nicci. Girl you were my first love

I think of you often….Thank You for allowing me in your life

  • Yesterday is the most covered song in music history ... over 3,000 recorded versions... it is the greatest ballad ever written

  • MARVIN WAS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIMES

  • Very original cover. I love this but Ray Charles's take is still my favorite.

  • My friend and I absolutely love Mediaoutletonline for getting fffreeee tuunes like this one. You should try and search it using Bing.

  • OoOoOoOoo! This is freakin' nice.

  • No la había oido pero me la imaginaba. Sabía que Marvin transformaría el tema haciendolo propio.Unico e inimitable Marvin gaye.

  • I heard this for the first time at the end of the American Masters Special on his life on PBS. Couldn't hear it all but fell in love with it. Glad it's here.

  • A glass of wine an Marvin.......Yes.

  • @kdunn75 For real Kdunn! If this joint doesn't move you..your spirit is void!!!!!!!!

  • A Classic! The Beatles filtered through Marvin.

  • Love this version the best.

  • They use this song at the end of "American Masters" on PBS about Marvin Gaye.

  • I don't like, simply because I'm not into soul. The way Paul sings it is just original, and puts the sad effect this song is supposed to have. Not saying this one is bad at all, I love Marvin Gaye, just I like the original better.

  • @alonsoverdugo33 dude i remember paul saying he liked this version better than his

  • This song is so much better in his voice. <3

  • I don't listen to this song unless it is Mr. Gaye singing.

  • Who were the 3 dislikes?Bin-Laden,Khadafy,&Mubarek?

  • Pure Excellence

  • 3 people have got no soul

  • My Lord, I could cry when hearing this. So much soul to say the least.

  • wow

  • OMG how have I been missing out on this

  • Does anyone else agree, he's truly the best singer to ever live

  • @residentevlidead 100% agreement!!!

  • @residentevlidead He is My Favorite Singer - PAST AND PRESENT.

  • @residentevlidead nope, MJ was. sorry.of course Les Twins kicks MJ's ass in dancing though. marvin was "alright", not exactly the best singer.

  • @residentevlidead

    Absolutely!

  • Well Marvin was just Marvin, that Silky , Silky soul singer, what's going on sends a message that will resound forever, I recently discovered this one " Yesterday" and the Natininal Anthem brings a renewed respect to life , liberty, freedom and the pursuit of happiness. Yes, he just may be oneof the greatest singers ever.

  • @residentevlidead what bout ray charles,lennon,cat stevens,sinatra, armstrong,elvis,cash...theyre all up there i think

  • @residentevlidead YESSSS!! THATS WHAT I ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE!!!

  • Holy *** this song is AMAZING!

  • I wouldn´t know this version... Simply fabulous!

  • RIP Marvin Gaye...27 years ago today..

  • This is pure perfection. This song always brings me to tears. I luv it!

  • Mr Marvin Gaye is a reference like Ray Charles he's awesome !!

  • Shame how it ended, but may his troubled soul be at peace...

  • Excellent cover. Paul McCartney was saying that the best covers of Beatles songs were by black artists; he said this was one of the best, which brought me here.

  • @superman11978 SAME! haha just read that article

  • This song is really easy to make a cover to. It's so changeable. It's brilliant.

  • voice of an ANGEL

  • i love this version but you have to check out ray charles cover of this song, it is absolutely beautiful. The original is still top on my list but ray's version is done with a lot more emotion.

  • You got to love how Marvin heard this track

  • @Blackdini1 You got to love how Marvin heard anything and everything

  • much better then the original beatles version

  • @KillaDose amen

  • considering everything that happened, makes this song truly sad. RIP Marvin

  • I think I like this version over any other cover!

  • Comment removed

  • better than the original IMO

  • @MCFROADS i'm starting to think that.

  • Damn!!!!

  • This was amazing....Rest in peace........

  • Beatles songs are priceless and jewels and only a selected few artists can do their songs justice, and Marvin is certainly one of those few!! Stevie wonder is another, Beautiful version.

  • @PoochMount18 Ditto.

  • so very beautiful. love you marvin.

  • If revolutionized means different melody and chords then i agree.Brilliant vocals though

  • same lyrics, different tune

  • Same tune but he revolutionized it with that distinctive and distinguished voice he was blessed with..............

  • I just discovered this rendition of "Yesterday." Marvin was truly a great artist.

  • He could take any song and own it; he truly sings like he lived it.

  • Show u right , the uniqueness and definative nature of his style, so impeccable like Poetry and the fresh morning dew , Marvin, Marvin , truly that Silky , silky soul SInger .

    Grande entre los Grandes !!!!

  • completely transformed the song...brilliant

Good on ya Ray, great clip.

  • He sounds beautiful it's relaxing =)

  • beautiful cover. incredible talent.

the most covered song ever written.

  • What a great cover...

  • Comment removed

  • I had no idea he did a cover of Yesterday. I just saw him on American Masters on my DVR. Heard it, like Calvin667, for the first time on that program. Such a brilliant musician.

  • Yeah, me neither. Ray Charles did a cover as well (as did a million other artists). Both are superior vocalists to McCartney, especially Marvin, but The original by The Beatles is the best by far.

  • @KrfNYC2, that's true, don't really listen to Beatles at all but they are musical greats no doubt and you can never top an original especially if they the Beatles. Marvin did a great cover for sure.

  • @KrfNYC2 Love Marvin a lot. His voice is amazing. Don't overlook Paul's pipes though. Paul can absolutely BELT it out when he really wants to. If you've never heard his Beatles song "Oh! Darling"...it's one of his best and soulful vocals ever recorded. Also his Wings hit "Let Me Roll It To You" is pretty impressive with his vocals too. He has a number of songs like that. "Maybe I'm Amazed" might be the best song he wrote. Paul is a master

  • @Princeboy99 i love the beatles, but i was never impressed by paul as a vocalist. he may hit a few notes every now and then that are impressive, but collectivley he didn't amaze me with his voice. also, i feel as though, at times, he tried to sing in away that he just couldn't (a good example is "golden slumbers"). great musician, but not an outstanding vocalist like marvin...that's just my opinion though.

  • @KrfNYC2 That's interesting. What exactly about "golden slumbers" do you think he's singing in away he couldn't? To me in that song he is singing pretty casually because there's only a piano accompanying him. It'd be interesting to see what you're talking about though

  • @Princeboy99 he sings casually for most of the song but there's one part (it's from 0:34-0:49 on my itunes) in which he tries to belt out notes and it just doesn't work for me. great song though. by the way, there's also a violin and drums in that song along with the piano.

  • @KrfNYC2 Ah I know what you're talking about now. And yes you're right there is some strings in that song, how could I forget!? And a little drumming. Yeah I hear what you're saying. He was probably just trying to accent certain words, but the song is so beautiful he could have kept the singing casual throughout. I think that if the singing is not amazing that's when the instrumentation, arrangement, melody and harmonies really become important to me. But when you have them all that is good too!

  • Absolutely incredible song...Gives me chills when I think about his Life and his Tragic end. Gifted with a curse...May he Rest in Peace.

  • He put some soul on a beatles cover. Gotta give respect. It's a nice cover

  • @abSOULuteD a very nice cover

  • Any idea what cd of his this came from? I caught the American Masters program and PBS and heard this for the first time.

  • @calvin667 I think it's on his That's The Way Love Is album, according to wikipedia.

  • thank you.

  • No problem.

  • Wow never realized there wasn't any comments......His Tune and Impact on Music is and will Forever be Legend....SOUL SO MUCH SOUL....This song is His Own..

  • Yay 1st commenT =) i Luv ThIs SonG! thnx!
