  • wish they would bring back the storm launcher

  • My batteries die so fast.Do I have bad ones?

  • airhogs rock but.. 60$ for a piece of foam and plastic..

  • my kid has 1 of them. can you run it on 2 cell?

  • think they'll ever come back with the storm launcher?

  • i got mine brand new for $6 HAHA but i had to install a lipo pack since it was missing

  • if you fly it on a cold day dont you hav to warm the engines up a li'l so they dont break dwn in air or slow down???

  • where do you get it

  • way more agile in expert mode, especially when one side motor is stronger. you need to be able to turn this thing. i found when i slow it down, the motors seem to run in sync and fly straight.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah i have one took a while to fix after a crash but its up flyin again and boy s mine fun to drive yeah!

  • Toys r us has them for 12 bucks right now.

  • They are $10 in store. $12 online

  • no they suck i had one but brok

  • Called them on the phone the other day, storm launchers are discontinued.... so sad.....

  • why on earth have they discontinued, i want one ....

  • can this plane stay in the air? and is it hard to get into the air? please tell me...i might buy this in a bit...

  • Well I certainly can fly mine as you can see from all the videos i have on it, including a cam on board in one, but you cant buy them and most people did not know how to fly them. They fly differently than airplanes.

  • @dakingofkings4life Well one thing about them is they have prop guards on them and if you take them off it will take off in a heartbeat.

  • they dont make these anymore? i want to buy another one since my first one broke Also the mini storm launchers arent sold either but good thing is i have 2 of them :)

  • I have been able to find several storm launchers on line and on e-bay. I just recently bought three. I am having a blast with the kids.

  • All right.

  • Yes, that is right.

  • Wow that music I'm guessing is one of your favorites. It's one of mine too.

  • Haha cool! But the problem with mine is that it takes over 70 feet for it to accelerate!! So it BARELY can get off my driverway into the air.

  • Handlaunch is way easier.

  • haha thats sweeeet =]

  • Thanks.

  • The problem I have with the Stormlauncher ( besides it's comparitive bad value - battery and plane cost more than several quality little coaxial heli's on the market or just some fun proportional thrust EPP planes like the XPV mini or Shadowhawk 2.0 , or even a host of entertaining Airhog ( Silverlit X-Twins ).

Mainly though, the Stormlauncher is a HYDROPLANE in looks and structure, and BOYS AND GIRLS....HYDROS DON'T FLY!!! hahaha...I'm sorry but when that thing skies out, it just looks DUMB

  • Yep, you cant buy them anymore, but dumb or not, thye are totally fun or I wouldn't still have 6 that fly perfectly in my hands.

  • Granted, I'll have to heartily agree with you. You are the Professor of RC, after all!

    - I always greatly appreciate your helpful and fun tutorials. Especially when you take a product out of the box and really hash it out for the rest of us - I can't tell you how helpful and great that is.

I still maintain that flying a RC Semi Truck with wings, or something like the famous "Flying Lawn Mower" could be a hoot,- personally I can't wrap my mind around it belonging up there in the sky. :o)

  • hahaha, slippery indeed at about 4 minutes and 50 seconds =:-)) Well done Dave ! Us RC folks are all kids aren't we, but we have heaps of fun for sure.

  • LOL Thanks kindly We are surely all kids....well I am at least.....a 61 yr old kid.

  • thanks for showing all these video of rc from the box review to the pros and cons on each items, these are way better then any text review or star rating systems, plus you're not sugar coating any thing.

  • Thanks very kindly. I appreciate your comments.

  • i noticed you spend all of your time making videos and spending money on rc planes and helis. how do you make a living?

just a question, dont get me wrong i am not trying to insult you or whatever

if you dont want to answer, its your choice not to. just curious.

  • I worked very hard all my life. (see my video the ride of my life) Now, I'm retired and decided to play, while I still can.

  • mr herbert,i dont know you,but i know you are a great person, while i watch your videos,i fell that the life is simple to be happy, being honest, working harder, family etc,and doing what we like to do,i adimire you.

  • Thanks. That is very kind of you to say. I appreciate it.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAH! please forgive me for laughing, poor guy :( . But loving it, and you have convinced me this is my next one.

BTW loving the sound effects too, too perfect given the circumstances.

In the end this proves one thing... "Practice makes perfect... except for walking" HAHAH!

  • i was flying that one in my computer with the cd that came with robo copter recon its very cool!!

  • do you have any tips or advice for me

  • Hand launch it into the wind, only on Novice mode as it stalls easily in the Expert mode. DO not shut off the motors, as it will not glide and will not turn. Good luck.

  • how much do these cost an where can i git one?

  • Try looking for at Spinmaster(.)com or airhogs(.)com. I paid $89 for SL and Battery.

  • they were $30.00 dollars boxing week at walmart i bought three but there not as cool as u expect your better of buying xpv mini because u have to buy batteries ceperate for storm launcher take to long to charge and die in seven minutes

  • Sweet vid, SL's look so much fun on the snow and ice, had 3 flights outta mine so far, modified and flying like a dream, GREAT PRODUCT!!

  • Glad you like yours too.

  • I have a SL and the elevator only works if I manually push it down then remotely raise it. Is there anything to do to help?

  • You have to open the bottom and move the wires or the receiver's sealing bag away from the pushrod, then tape it back together.

  • thanks

  • nice place

  • Thanks.

  • Dave.... are you the same Dave from the video on how to modify the storm launcher, like cut off the back fin, and drill out the centre?

  • Yes.

  • I was rading the comments, you have heli tips? i have an RC heli called the "mosquito" its a good one, but i cant really control it once it gets out of hand. got any tips?

  • My tips are away in a pm. Good luck.

  • how long is the storm launcher flight time?

  • 3 or 4, 4 minute flights, usually on 1 battery. I have 4 batteries and always let the motors cool down for a few minutes before going up again.

  • Great video and cool song too

  • Thanks...

  • are they worth the mony?

  • Absolutely it was for me.

  • i have a question:how many comments do u get on an average day?u have loads of videos, and they are !all!cool!!keep it up!!

  • I am answering about 150 comments/questions a day. I send out about 40-50 of my 9 helicopter tips a day too. Thanks for the kudos and I appreciate your watching.

  • wow!!

  • Any ideas on what could be built with the motors and props of the SL once the body has had the buiscuit? Some sort of twin engine flatout or something? Could be a good project for ya! ciao

  • Haha. I'm right with you. Been thinking about that for a while. Stay tuned.

  • I've also gone out and bought two other Storm lauchers when they went on sale, lol, my original two have been to hell and back (more glue than foam, lol) and still flew pretty good. I'm getting to enjoy the new one's better now that i'm better at flying them.

  • Good for you. I love these things,....duh? LOL. Glad to hear from another SL dihard!

    Thanks.

  • Another great video. Seems to me that the Storm Launcher people should hire you as the PR guy, Dave!

Anyway, as I commented earlier, they are available here in Western Canada, finally.

And today at Wal-mart in New West, near Vancouver for $29 - seems very cheap to me. I bought two!

Because of your videos, there are lots of us out here with the confidence to try this thing - thanks again, Dave.

  • Ha ha. Thanks... I just bought 3 more from walmart online here, myself! $15 bucks each! So you gotta know how much I love them too. They are the best in the snow for sure. See Gartgantuans video response above left. I never want to be without one.

  • ah pi jai le meme modele jen ner acheter 2 meme lol la baterie dur tu longtemps

  • French?

  • oki heu my englis is poor ok lol im buying this storm launcher im not play my question is how much the time baterie . i am dreamplay time lol sry for my englis lol

  • On 1 full charge, batteries last about 10-12 minutes. Make 3 or 4 (3) minute flights, to last longer.

  • ok good, i have buy 2 boat one for my one my father lol

  • je vien juste aller en acheter un jai bien hate de lessayer

  • French?

  • Looks to me like all Airhogs did was take a hydrofoil boat model and stick some motors on to make it fly? I wonder how it would fly with a set of 370's hangin' off the front? lol

  • There are lots real models like thes with big outrunners. They cost over $200, and since they do not glide whatsoever, they are expensive to crash....and we all crash. This SL takes plenty of abuse for cheap and one of my most fun machines. See Graupner airboat for more on the big ones.

  • jeffs' lands were so good! Up here in toronto canada the snow is really fluffy so it's really hard to take off.

  • I believe it. Yep, hand launch in that case.

  • What is the difference between novice and pro mode? Does pro mode allow for flips and loops? I though I read people saying that it is less maneuverable in novice mode.

  • Enjoyed the video; flying the SL vicariously is fun too!!

A couple of questions: 1) are these the ones that you have made a number of custom changes to? and 2), Are they reasonably easy to fly for a beginner to master, or are they really "touchy"?

  • Thanks. The only mods are also recommended in the Stock SL instructions. Cut off the prop shrouds, and remove the top horizontal Stabilizer. That is it. All planes are touchy and require practice and total understanding of the controls. There is no airfoil so it is about as good as it gets. I love mine.

  • youre so lucky that you have this huge enviroment to fly stuff like this i don't

  • Nice. Kind of makes me think an airfoil isn't really required for flight. Just some form of compression lift.

  • Thanks. Exactly. If you put a big enough motor on it, you could fly a garage door!

  • One of your better vids. U guys have too much fun! Jeff didnt fly as well at the pond, but he did well in the open. He's great a hovering the SL for sure. He seemed to drive it better on the ground/ice than you did this time Dave. You guys sold me, I gotta get one of these things.

  • Thanks. They are definitely fun..

  • great video.man its cold there.i've never been in weather like that before.looks like tons of fun.

  • Yep, it is fun to fly on ice and snow with the SLs. Thanks.

  • i wanna live somewhere where it snows at christmas :O(

    great vid guys :O)

  • Thank you kindly.

  • As always...... Great video and big fun... :-)

  • Thanks. Glad you liked it.

  • Sweet flight i love your vid yup this flyer should be mine by christmas. Great job on the vid

  • Thanks very kindly. You will love it.

  • Really great video Dave. This is the same pond that we saw in the summer time testing the storm launcher. It does not get that cold here in Augusta, Georgia. Rarely do we see snow. Right now the high is in the 60's to 70's and it is December! I always look forward to you and Jeff getting out and making RC videos. You have a friend down south. Keep the great vids coming.

    Eric

    aka Joehandsome99

  • Hi Eric. Thank you so kindly. We have fun and Jeff and I are glad you liked the vid. Getting a laugh sometimes is what we need to keep our wits.

The SL is really fun to fly on the ice, though, ya know.

  • Dave,

Fun video. Is this the SL that you added rudder to? Doesn't look like it.

    Jeff

  • Thanks a lot. Your right, this is not the same SL as my modified one. The stock SL really flies great as is, so that is the one I like to fly the best.

  • Truely amazing how you two fly those things! I should get one of them myself, arnt they like $70? I laughed when you fell on the ice, hahaha!

  • Fantastic and funny. I love mine too. I would never have had a Storm launcher if I had never seen your movie. Thanks a lot. Keep them coming. 5 stars...
