  • This is splendid. I'm a huge CBR fan, but this was just... wow.

  • herbie a master on piano. yes

but his virtuosity doesn`t touch me here. unfortunately.

    neither does her singing.

it must be that white house etiquette..

  • Albertina Sisulu

  • amazing vid!!! love the herbie smile when it all came out right..............

  • this is just....wonderful

  • *great.

  • I don't like the jazzy chords, 'cause this song is beautiful because of it's simplicity. But the pianist was treat.

  • great cover but please..put your hands down

  • No.

I don't like to trash songs, because it's all opinions.

    The Beatles version is perfect.

Listen to Joe Sample & Randy Crawford. Randy makes this girl look like an AmIdol reject.

  • And blackbird...was a black-southafrican woman fighting for freedom. McCartney was aware of the apartheid. Peter

  • whats up with her hands?

  • In the last two years Obama has had Paul McCartney AND Bob Dylan sing for him. Sheesh.

  • Influenced by Bach but Herbified.

  • Herbie Hancock is a master.

  • @ALean127 - I agree with you, 100%!!!!

  • That's special

  • If you don't like this, you have no soul. Herbie Hancock is one of the greatest pianists in the history of the world and his playing is mind-blowing as usual here.

  • That was so gorgeous. I love how jazz helps you hear songs in such a new way.

  • This was stunningly beautiful. I was moving around the apartment finishing chores at the end of uninspiring weekend, and was stopped in my tracks by this Ms. Rae and Mr Hancock. Exquisite.

  • NO CANTA NI UN CARAJO!!!!!!!!!

  • This version of SUCKS without Paul fingerpicking his guitar !!!!

  • @brendanmah you really seem to love music.

  • Herbie is good

  • I understand Paul might have had an African person in mind when he wrote the song and I am not racist, but this was terrible! Paul didn't look like he enjoyed himself like he did when the Jonas brothers performed(i am not a fan of theirs but I thought they did good). I couldn't even listen to the whole song, I had to fast forward and Blackbird is one of my fav Beatles songs!!

  • @thecommenter90 i think we were watching a different show because this version is terrific. Their arrangement of the song is incredible and her voice is exquisite. The performance had feeling as opposed to the jonas brothers' performance which was basically a copy of the original and forgettable.

  • @cuttooth Thank you for your opinion, but it is obvious we have completely different views on the matter. I have a lot of respect for people who will go out and make a song their own, this version is just not or me. I don't like her voice and this version is too slow and jazzy(The Beatles were not jazzy!). I prefer the original song the way it was written and intended to be sung.

  • The song is about black people. A positive and uplifting song dealing with freedom and expression. Appropriately sung and played by black people. Low key and jazzy. Nice!

  • Nice to hear this song NOT as an acoustic guitar cliche.

    Lovely.

  • She can't carry a note, no timbre. She is definitely a post-production artist.

  • @mpturcotte Don't agree with you. I think the tone of her voice is lovely.

  • i was the first one to make a negative vote, i don t know what that means, honestly, perhaps i m wrong, but i think they ruined it... don t see paul very happy

  • She is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice

  • fav jazz pianist = herbie hancock.... the man is just the most versatile being ever. He can do straight ahead jazz, funk, fusion, rock, and he can even just redo a beautiful pop ballad such as this in his own musical mastermind image.

  • just sensational!

  • GIRL PUT YOUR BEATLES RECORDS ON!

    great cover

  • Great cover..

  • Great performance for one of the best songs in history

maybe this is was the highlight of the white house event

  • A perfect duo, yeah

  • I'd love to hear someone play "I am the Walrus". I know it's a John song but I think it would be insanely awesome. But someone should sing it at a John tribute, cause now it's Paul moment!!!

  • @TheIzabel11 Oasis did a cover, but if you want to see something off the wall check out Jim Carey's version

  • spectacular!

  • My favorite version. Herbie's re-harmonized chords? Genius...

  • anyone know where i can download this? is it on itunes?

  • Very interesting cover

Maybe one of the best with the CSN s one played in Woodstock 69

    Peace&Love

  • Drake Bell's version is better

  • @badomenechdecelles ...are you kidding? Drake Bell will never come close to the brilliance of this performance. Both Corinne Bailey Rae and Herbie Hancock are incredible musicians, which is why they were invited to perform for Paul McCartney and the President.

  • Yeah i know they are exellent musicians but i prefer the acoustic version of Drake and I don't really like this Jazz version that's all...

But anyway this song is just incredible...

  • Wow, as if everyone didn't know already how talented these two are. Beautiful touch and transitions. You know someone's a true musician when it's as though the music just flows naturally from their being the way it does for these two...

Haha, And who doesn't think Herbie has the perfect "aww yeah" smile on the last few notes of the song?

  • AMAZING VERSION!

  • exquisite version. So wonderfully understated. . . never heard her before but what a lovely rendition of this classic.

  • I had almost forgotten this song was written specifically for the African American Rights, that just makes this performance even more perfect. This was the first time i was hearing her and i usually don't like covers of their songs, but I LOVED this one. And for me, that's saying a lot. Well done.

  • After this performance, I had a huge crush on her. A week later I find out she's 31... I thought she was 20 or so.... I still have a crush on her though. haha

  • Amazing! Their rendition almost gave the lyrics to the song a deeper meaning of African American struggles in American history. Very beautiful.

  • Thank you for this share! I enjoyed Corinne's rendition greatly. Wonderful!

  • i soooo hope they make the concert into a cd!!!

  • I loved this as a girl, listening to the Paul sing the original. Now I get to love it as a grandmother, all over again...the wind beneath my wings.

  • thanks for uploading, i loved their rendition of it. i would buy this song if there was a recording!
