I found the comment about what is used in the Prophy-Jet for the powder interesting. I've never heard a claim that it contained sea salt, is this being added to the sodium bicarbonate? What is the solution are you irrigating with? What settings are you using with the laser for your Serilase procedure: watts/ continuous/ pulsed settings. I'm using a biolase diode laser.
I recently had this proceedure at the offices of Dr. William Wolfson (212 smiling) on West 56th st. in NYC. I had always been uncomfortable with the old way (metal spikes in my mouth!?), but this was altogether different. The technician explained everything clearly and I really felt the difference. I guess that this is particularly good if you have not waited a long time since your last proper teeth cleaning.
jill9980....I agree that mechanical debridement is the standard of care....I view this application (diode laser) as an adjunct to mechanical debridement. I dont think you can refute its ability to minimize periodontal pathogens within a sulcus/pocket. There are a hosts of studies that reveal this capability. US/European studies even...let me know if you are interested in viewing them.

My cousin is a dentist in Peru. He has that ultrasonic scaler. that thing is bad ass... Ask your dentist if they have, absolutely pain free cleaning.

This is not evidence based. Traditional debridement is still the gold standard in periodontal care.
