First, It's not "guards," it's Correctional Officers. Second, TDCJ Officers are NOT corrupt. I've worked multiple units over the last 6 years. The only way these inmates can get this contraband is through the mail that does not get properly inspected, or through visitation. We only pat search adults coming in. We cannot touch minors, regardless if they're sorry asses are the ones bringing in the contraband. TDCJ is not as corrupt as the media says it is. To them, I say "Fuck you."

At dixiejon ..I know for a fact that recently a cocaine bust happened at the shakedown area of the unit ,and it was a family member. It only takes one or two idiots to make the rest of us look bad. You don't want us to stereotype family members , then don't stereotype us....Most of the correctional staff at my unit do our best to do our jobs right, however... there is always that one. Flip that over to your side and see if it isn't true...

yes we got 7% of that 20% and we got it divided into 2 years. So 3.5 each year for 2 years. Its a joke how much they pay us compared to what we have to put up with every single day. Also knowing that any givin day we might not walk back out of the gate. More pay and more standards would increase the professionalism of TDCJ correctional officers drastically.

I was an inmate at several TDCJ units(drug possession) and rarely had an officer mistreat me in any sort of way. Those guys were just doing their jobs and I found that if I was respectful to them they were respectful to me in kind. Smuvpapichulo....sounds like you were a crash dummy. If you have problems with that many people in that many places, chances are YOU'RE the problem, not them....That goes for the free world as well.
I feel that nothing can justify the bringing of anything from the outside to the inside by anyone working at any of the so many Units, be it a CO, a nurse or what ever position held. Employment is at will & no one is forced to work for TDCJ.
