The problem is the top 1% who have the vast majority of money, the solution is steal from the rich and give to the poor. All people are so to be equal but a few are far more equal than others, this needs to change!
This collapse is just due to the fact the market itself has forgotten where true values are. Most people think value is fiat dollars or even debt which is why it is at bubble levels. Some people think govt bonds are where values are at, because a whole generation has not seen it go down and they just assume it is a safe heaven. Others assume safety is other fiat currencies. Others assume it's the stock market, when it just comes from an efficient division of labor and satisfying demand. Bleh.
NOBODY in America survives off $2 a day for more than 7 days.(that would be close enough to a Jesus Fast) This almost makes what you just said pointless. Unless you send money to someone who CAN survive, off $2 a day, which would make THEM rich. btw, I like your vids, no harm no foul, lol
@stopoutside you can eat every day with 2 bucks a day in America so infact you can survive off 2 dollars a day. Doesn't mean youll be drinking anything but water( free) or sleeping anywhere but outside but it can be done. Ive done it.
that's wrong to think in such a way. if we do not catch up, we will be left behind. realistically we've got to run every day. it's the world we live in today.
Other parts of the world dont have to pay $1000 a month for an apartment, 400K for a house, or $50,000 for an operation. Wealth is not income, but assets, income is the ability to aquire them against expenses.
Whats happening now its not so much an economic collapse but a collapse in a value systems. What really is wealth is there really such a thing in todays new electronic environment?
Stop accept their credit as valuable stop exchanging your sweat and blood for it and it all changes overnight.
an interesting statistic but as mentioned before doesn't take into account cost of living, maybe showing the numbers of fpeople living in poverty would be a more powerful statistic
unfortunetly... statisticis are always jaded... if you factor in cost of living in the countries or peolples that you are commparing you have to factor in cost of living... I can have a can eat and drink like a king with enough money left over for a palce to stay and souviners in Kulcutta for 6 dollars a day ( i did it) the same cannot be said of the higher income places....
Yeah, and years ago I went to Argentina. It cost $5,00 per day for two hotel rooms and all you could eat. At the hotel. It was a dictatorship at the time. What is your point? It was frightening to me to have to walk past a minimum of 2 Military Personnel armed with full automatic weapons while I could not have one, and the only reason for it was that I was going to the bank to exchange US dollars for Pesos.
Do you think the people that had to live with that daily liked it?
in some of those countries you can higher your own personal body gaurd for 5 bucks a day.
I of course am not saying that its ok... we also have to keeep in mind different social norms and stuff.. Westerners might be unsettled seeing people with gus in frunt of buildings.. i doubt those who live there are...
the point of my post is that someone who makes 2 dollars a day in a country where the cost of living is 3 dollars would be equal to making 25k a year in the US if the cost of basic living is 30k. Of course, the ability for extreme poverty is higher in the third world and it is about the percentage of people under the livable amount that is the problem. I was just saying that using statistics without adjusting for realities does not help to clearify any issues...
@druglover200 Actually I do think that they were scared and I don't believe that anyone gets used to that type of life. People tend to dissapear never to be seen again in that type of government atmosphere.
@rhosey001 People like all living things are adaptable you can get used to being poor and we werent talking about ' government' but this is more of an economic lesson. I can almost guarantee there are a few people even in america only living off of a couple dollars a day.
@rhosey001 Sorry i commented about the wrong subject lol so i back tracked and found the comment. Why don't think people couldn't get used to something like that? Seems to me getting used to and liking something are 2 different things. Even us Americans will get use to a dictatorship.
as I head off this morning to go to work, trying not to be as angry at them as i was yesterday...it's good to know I could work at McDonalds or a local 5-n-dime and still be rich :P
interesting numbers thats pretty cool i make around 1k-1.5k dollars a year working for my grandparents bus company (im the cleaner lol) and im still in high school :)
The problem, Steve, is that it's all RELATIVE. Where I choose to live there is NO WAY to survive on $2/day. Does that mean I pack up my suitcase and bring me and my children to another part of the world where my piddly Bay Area income is worth millions?
Wow... normally I make like $25K-$27K yearly. This definitely puts it in perspective for me. Right now, since I'm jobless, I'm 'poor' since money is going to bills, rent, and food....
Having come from a country that has a high poverty level but also has a high happiness index, I am always aware of the blessings I am given. I'm very thankful.

Barack Obama's brother lives on less than $2.00 a day.
$10,000.00 a year is well below poverty level in the US and Makes one eligible for many entitlement programs. eg: food stamps, rental assistance, fuel assistance, medical care. The list is endless. Their is no such thing as poverty in America and certainly no need for more entitlement programs. So called poor people in this country drive cars, have multiple TV's, and nice apartments to live in. Not always true. For a good long time my wife and I had an income to not get those helpful programs given by the government. Yet those who were on it were living better then us. It got so bad that I was forced to hunt in the woods just to have food on the table. For the record hunting wilf turkey in the burbs of Pittsburgh raises more then a few eyebrows. Rich is more then just income though. It is income vs outgo. And to para-phrase Sheryl Crow
"It's not having what you want
it's wanting what you've got"
Of course I like to take the Malcom Forbes concept of rich.
"Rich is getting up when you want, going to bed when you want and doing what you want in bweteen without worrying how you are going to pay for it."
Combine those two concepts and rich takes on a whole new meaning.
ogunshi 3 years ago
