  • It should be obvious that Glenn didn't hear the question right, because his answer was "Unchained Melody, which of course was an old pop standard, which Bobby Hatfield got a hold of." So, he didn't hear the guy right asking if there was a Jim webb song he wish he'd recorded. He thought the guy was asking the usual "Is there a song you wish you had recorded". A hearing problem, nothing more

  • I think there's a mistake here. Glen claims that Webb wrote Unchained Melody. Alex North and Hy Zaret, however, were the composers. Just setting the record straight.

  • @Loejyrrab I think you need to go back and watch the video again. He never claims that Webb wrote "Unchained Melody." He stated that he wished he would have recorded it.

  • @chucksummer No problem. Great song, great singer (Campbell) and Jimmy Webb is a genius.

  • Great talent and a good guy, Glenn Campbell.:-)

  • Glen Campbell knew a good thing when he heard it! It was like the "Perfect Musical Storm"!

  • A few years back, when my buddy was running Malibu Country Club, I played a round of golf with him and his buddy Cisco. Those two were were total crack ups; reeling off jokes left and right, They could have gonna on the road as a comedy team. Even with all the great work that he has done, that's how I know and will know Glen Campbell. If he is ill, I wish he gets better. I'd like to hit another 18 with those guys

  • Golden, that is very sad. I hope that somehow his illness will improve. I always liked GC. He played bass for one of my favorite bands, the Beach Boys, and sang the songs of my favorite songwriter, Jimmy Webb.

  • I agree with gejopari. I think Glen just misunderstood the question.

  • hey he is elderly and probably still on drugs..if not the drugs are probably still wearing off..give the old man a break...or is that a roach...a spliff...oh damn what was he talking about...

  • @mastertusk Dude, any sane person who knows Al Hibbler, knows it was North who wrote most of it, and would say, you gotta be on drugs to say something like that. Still love Rhinestone Glen, though.

  • @analyzingfunny I saw Glen live a few months ago . His band included 3 of his (adult) kids who i think were there to look after him as much as to provide musical support. His memory was gone , sang entirely from autocue and didnt know who had written his biggest hit Rhinestone Cowboy. Taking other little things into account , excessive/unusual arm swinging etc ( which is a symptom of some illnesses ) , he is not a well man

was not at all a well man.

  • @analyzingfunny I think Roy Hamilton did "Unchained Melody" first, from the movie "Unchained", about that Chino prison without walls. -and Al Hibbler covered it. But they were neck in neck at about the same time, so I might be wrong.

  • Jimmy Webb did not write Unchained Melody. I think Glen simply misunderstood the question, and thought he'd been asked if there were ANY songs he hadn't recorded that he wished he had. He clearly knows Webb didn't write that one, as he refers to it as an old standard.

  • wait a minuite jim did not write unchained melody

  • Comment removed

  • Wow. Would have liked to hear more but maybe there was nothing else worth hearing? never knew he backed up the R B's, or that Webb wrote Unchained.

  • webb didnt write Unchained.I dont know what the hell Glenn is talking about.

  • Find 1:03 on here, and just keep clicking it OVER AND OVER.

  • Jimmy Webb's songs are so extraordinary. They are so hard to sing although they are incredibly poetic.
