Pretty awesome man, youre well equipped. Couple things... you need more durable bags, walmart shit doesnt cover it. you need bags that are designed for the wilderness not going to class. Also you should bring a bunch of coffee filters or other kind of water filter. Also those pills you can drop in a glass of river water to get rid of most bacteria.

all you need to survive anywhere in luxury is: sleeping bag(your best friend), swiss army knife, compass, duct tape, needle, dental floss, good shoes/boots, basic medical gear, smokes or alchohol to barter. also don't do 99% of the things in apocalypse man like: urban parkour,scaling bridges, building fires in abandoned buildings, driving, traveling through sewers, and broadcasting your position to everyone in 20 miles.
@cloudpaladin also, guns, don't use them. this is not saying don't carry weapons, however. carrying a gun makes you more likely to engage possible threats instead of avoiding them. if you are carrying a gun other people are more likely to avoid you/engage you. guns only fire as long as you have bullets, any bullets you use you'll have to scavenge after the first ten clips or so, you're not gonna be able to find more 7.62. best all around weapon is probably a crowbar, it opens doors and heads.
In an interview with the Apocalypse Man he said there was way more footage that didn't make it onto the show. He said he taught us how to hunt & eat rat. How to test for it's safety, & etc. Also; network & be friends with your neighbors BEFORE the shit hits the fan- not after. Please do that.

What are you using to determine the differences between using this "Apoc Bag" vs carrying your B.O.B ? A cataclysmic situation has occured.... You have covered basics acceptably. I would spend the money though for better equip ASAP. 1st-A Good Knife-something you can't get at Walmart. 2)-Multiple water carriers and means of purification-This is life or death. If you are mobile and cant hole up, WATER is your life. Multiple means of making fire-Good. Firearms- dependable w/lot of ammo.
IMHO the reason that he didn't bring firearms into the mix is that if you have one, there are likely chances that you confront a possible foe, even if you are not detected; then if you don't have a firearm, you will likely stick to stealth, besides sound suppressors can only last so many rounds anyways.
Just think other than a nuclear catastrophe, most people will run out of bullets in about a month, then you have people flinging butt stocks, receivers, bolt carriers.
good video, may i suggest you mention pre planned places to meet up with others? me and my friends have a property out in the middle of nowhere in the countryside that we all agreed to meet at, a cabin with ammo, food...etc, all youd have to do is have enough on your person to get to the safehouse, than u can easily make a stand there....

So I may be premature in this, seeing as I've only watched 10 minutes of the show, but I kind of hope a lot of people like you prepare packs and then die in the attacks or whatever it is that wipes out the country. The back-pak looks ok to me. The duffle on the other hand... ...looks like a weak "clip" strap...IMO. That bak=pak looks perfectly capable of holding all the gear he listed.
...as U don't know what to expect; u pack as if you will not b back.
H2o, food, dry clothes, muzzle cover, mag cover, MED kit, cooking/fuel/heat, commonidties, rain, etc.
Your limitation is what u can carry, manuever in, & stash securely.
Lastly, that rope may come n handy as a handle for that duffle. Most commercial duffles are not made to actually haul canned foods, liquids, or weight exceding 5lbs. Better off going with a stretch trash bag.
i think everything you had in this video is pretty good i was really impressed. everything from the bag to the rope to the tools to the assault rifle. but another thing that i think you should have mentioned is some type of first aid and maybe even a Kevlar vest for protection other then that i thought it was well planed out

I would try to make contact ASAP. 2 heads are a hell of a lot better than one. In the videos there was freaking NOBODY. In that cits at LEAST 50 people had to have survived whatever occured. With a group like that, you can restore some kind of order and make your situation better. Break up into foraging groups. 5 or so, people go find food, 5 for water, ect. Or you could just send groups in every direction and tell them to move outwards and then come back to the meeting point before dark.

One of lasting things of practical nature that the Army gave me is new eyes. Successful laser surgery, and it's the PRK type, rather than the lasik. I guess I opted for that because I wanted to be open to joining special forces. Might not happen now...

Don't know I believe the rifle will get you in trouble in Houston. I beleve the plastic poncho could be used once maybe twice. A shoygun would be nice to kill rabbits and the bigger rats.

I've got my S.A.S survival techniques book, thats worth its weight. Amazing stuff on how to get water when there is none, shelters, hunting for food, eating grass, etc, etc. Crazy how plastic can be so useful. Pretty good stuff.
This is a very entertaining pack. Made me laugh a bunch when you brought up the grappling from the bridge thing. I'm glad I'm not the only person that thought that was ridiculous. And Apocalypse Man did break out a multi-tool during the series. He lifted the lid off of his food while eating with the pliers on the tool. I'm surprised that he didn't mention it though. They are so useful.
you should check out nutnfancy's urban survival kit. long video, but very good. also, practice with the steel wool and a battery. not as easy as you think. also practice with the flint/magnesium bar. extremely tough the first time. try cotton balls or dryer lint at first to strike.

it is innevitable that you will meet strangers. the hiararchy would probably consist of mainly your family and friends on top, complete strangers would start at the bottom. they would go higher once you befriend them, get to know them and gain their trust. just like in the apocalypse man, you'd probably want to examine the strangers before you meet them. if they're shady you probably wouldnt want to meet them

My suggestion for gloves is Mechanix Wear .5's. The .5 means the glove is thinner than the normal Mechanix wear glove which allows you to use them to shoot with. They are incredibly durable and provide a decent amount of warmth and protection from the elements.

P.S. Back back with a water hold is a very good idea always on hand and frees up space in the bag itself and eliminates the need to carry a lot of bottles or other containers.

4) Food- MRE's/Backpacker dried food/Fresh Vegetables & Fruits/Jerky/Pkged foods - All necessary in quantities to sustain you acceptably for long period of time. 5)Last Aid-Bandages/Meds/Etc, all needed to deal with basic injuries/allergies/colds/ etc,. On a last note on firearms or PDW- whether you can carry a rifle or pistol or shotgun, or preferably (I do) carry all three-Get training NOW!!! Knowledge is Key- Bows also extremely useful. Have min 2 Bags-One Car/ One home! Always Prepared!

What are you using to determine the differences between using this "Apoc Bag" vs carrying your B.O.B ? A cataclysmic situation has occured.... You have covered basics acceptably. I would spend the money though for better equip ASAP. 1st-A Good Knife-something you can't get at Walmart. 2)-Multiple water carriers and means of purification-This is life or death. If you are mobile and cant hole up, WATER is your life. Multiple means of making fire-Good. Firearms- dependable w/lot of ammo.

IMHO the reason that he didn't bring firearms into the mix is that if you have one, there are likely chances that you confront a possible foe, even if you are not detected; then if you don't have a firearm, you will likely stick to stealth, besides sound suppressors can only last so many rounds anyways.
Just think other than a nuclear catastrophe, most people will run out of bullets in about a month, then you have people flinging butt stocks, receivers, bolt carriers.

good video, may i suggest you mention pre planned places to meet up with others? me and my friends have a property out in the middle of nowhere in the countryside that we all agreed to meet at, a cabin with ammo, food...etc, all youd have to do is have enough on your person to get to the safehouse, than u can easily make a stand there....

So I may be premature in this, seeing as I've only watched 10 minutes of the show, but I kind of hope a lot of people like you prepare packs and then die in the attacks or whatever it is that wipes out the country. Because I'm sure that people that were smart enough to survive don't want to encounter people that learned how to survive off of a stupid tv show. I'm sure they would much rather prefer people who have practical experience.

H2o, food, dry clothes, muzzle cover, mag cover, MED kit, cooking/fuel/heat, commonidties, rain, etc.
Your limitation is what u can carry, manuever in, & stash securely.
Lastly, that rope may come n handy as a handle for that duffle. Most commercial duffles are not made to actually haul canned foods, liquids, or weight exceding 5lbs. Better off going with a stretch trash bag.

i think everything you had in this video is pretty good i was really impressed. everything from the bag to the rope to the tools to the assault rifle. but another thing that i think you should have mentioned is some type of first aid and maybe even a Kevlar vest for protection other then that i thought it was well planed out

I would try to make contact ASAP. 2 heads are a hell of a lot better than one. In the videos there was freaking NOBODY. In that cits at LEAST 50 people had to have survived whatever occured. With a group like that, you can restore some kind of order and make your situation better. Break up into foraging groups. 5 or so, people go find food, 5 for water, ect. Or you could just send groups in every direction and tell them to move outwards and then come back to the meeting point before dark.

You are right , in the US people would shoot each other- in Europe people would beat each other with sticks and rocks instead. This means that bigger stronger,more violent people and gangs would rule where as in the US regular folks could possibly restore order locally.
I'm UK born, perhaps Germans like each other better then brits but i rather think they too would be eating each other after missing 9 meals.

Binoculars might be useful...
One of lasting things of practical nature that the Army gave me is new eyes. Successful laser surgery, and it's the PRK type, rather than the lasik. I guess I opted for that because I wanted to be open to joining special forces. Might not happen now...
Moist, cloudy days is when I can see the farthest.

Don't know I believe the rifle will get you in trouble in Houston. I beleve the plastic poncho could be used once maybe twice. A shoygun would be nice to kill rabbits and the bigger rats.

@SidneyBou Yea, a shotgun would be very useful. It can be used for hunting and self defense. Ammo would be alot easier to carry. The only down fall is that the humidity/possible water contact would destroy the ammo quickly. It would be hard to keep it dry if you are on the move. But I do agree. Thanks for the feedback.

I've got my S.A.S survival techniques book, thats worth its weight. Amazing stuff on how to get water when there is none, shelters, hunting for food, eating grass, etc, etc. Crazy how plastic can be so useful. Pretty good stuff.

This is a very entertaining pack. Made me laugh a bunch when you brought up the grappling from the bridge thing. I'm glad I'm not the only person that thought that was ridiculous. And Apocalypse Man did break out a multi-tool during the series. He lifted the lid off of his food while eating with the pliers on the tool. I'm surprised that he didn't mention it though. They are so useful.

you should check out nutnfancy's urban survival kit. long video, but very good. also, practice with the steel wool and a battery. not as easy as you think. also practice with the flint/magnesium bar. extremely tough the first time. try cotton balls or dryer lint at first to strike.

it is innevitable that you will meet strangers. the hiararchy would probably consist of mainly your family and friends on top, complete strangers would start at the bottom. they would go higher once you befriend them, get to know them and gain their trust. just like in the apocalypse man, you'd probably want to examine the strangers before you meet them. if they're shady you probably wouldnt want to meet them

@koalashooter1 I would think so. The problem would be location and skills. There are alot of individuals that have no skills. Choosing the right location and defending it would also be key. I would get with liked minded individuals,gather intel,set up a hiararchy and and a plan. Make sure people all feel the same and are willing to work together. Thanks for the feedback.

@darque29 I'd have to make sure there is some democracy in the hiararchy as trust is a very big factor. if nobody trusts a plan, then it won't be done. also, it would be best to gather many of your friends and survive with them than with complete strangers. your friends are most likely to trust your plans and believe in the cause rather than strangers

My suggestion for gloves is Mechanix Wear .5's. The .5 means the glove is thinner than the normal Mechanix wear glove which allows you to use them to shoot with. They are incredibly durable and provide a decent amount of warmth and protection from the elements.
