OMG if she received a rash from the antibiotics and was allergic they should known better to stop....wish Madera would have sent her to the Oakland childrens hospital or to Shriners Childrens hospital in Sacramento. Why I say this is because my sister was over medicated at one of the Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis, Mn over 20+ years ago by a nurse, to this dayy my little sister takes medications to control her, her mind can't control her body, I hope this little girl comes back from the spirit world and takes the doctors and nurses that did this to her, I'm proud to be Hmong people,

You know doctors are not Gods and be able to heal you or know it all. Every doctor goes through Hell and hoping to save their patients. Everyday they discover a new disease, new cancer, and etc that they have not studied.
This child, Bless this child, but can you possibly blame it on the doctor? She probably had an ear infection couple days before her parent submitted her, or she really had a bad virus that killed her brain before they can cure it.

I know that it's rude to be asking but did the doctors said "SORRY" or say anything to her parents. If, this was my cousin, niece, daughter, friend, or sister I would have sue. just to throw it out there...Antibiotics should not be taken lightly...when a doctor is prescribing...make sure he/she is certain...and children/people that are new to the US should be extra cautious about vaccines/injections/medications, especially those that are from small villages in thailand or lao where a wide range of medications are often not used. Treatments in the US can sometimes be a lot stronger therefore over-dose is more likely. Hmong meds mixed with American Meds can be dangerous.
I'm truly sorry for your family's loss. Based on the information provided, it certainly does sound like the doctors are taking advantage of the fact that the parents are new to the US, the language, and the hospitals, they think that they can be careless, make mistakes and simply cover up their butts by throwing out a butch of rubbish BS. Thank you for sharing, this truly helps us young mothers to be extra cautious about these kind of things at the hospitals.
I almost died from anti-biotics. it has been over 3yrs and I am still recovering. I would have died though, had I not taken strong Glutamin, vitamin b-complex. That's what the anti-biotics drain. When your body goes lower than some percentage, (i forgot how low), you're dead.
A very sad story... I really hope the family sue the doctors & hospital if they haven't already. Seriously I would never let this go on without a fight by filing tens of millions of dollars in malpractice damages & suffering. Advice > Get a high profile lawyer!!!

Contamination and bacteria can be easily be caught at hosipital and clinics. I personally refuse to take antibiotics if natural/herbal remedies have not been sought. Ofcourse we all know, Drs. will do anything for the credit of treating somewell well.... but will never take the blame if anything goes bad.

This is such a sad loss for the xiong family. I'm also a xiong and I could feel the pain that her family is going through. I'm a parent myself as well. I cannot imagine what they're going through right now. May god bless them and Yer rest in peace now. I hope the parents find out what happen and should consider investigating what really went wrong. #1.)The family can't sue the doctors because they used the state's medical insurance-- They get the cheapest doctors, including dental and along with drug plans. No matter how serious the problem, they can't get refer to any specialist..
#2.)Due lack of English for her parents, the doctors won't get serious trouble even if they did.
A lot of Hmong(NEW COMERS) people have been studying pet for doctors. I lost a friend 2 yrs. ago, due to cancer. She got sick right after she graduated. She also was a NEW COMER in the states, and she did every order the doctors gave. But they won't let her see the specialist--why because she was using a state's med. insurance "WI". The doctors kept given her medicine and therapy but at the end, we lost her and she was only 20. When she died, they still don't know what kind of cancer she had.
@drmdk I don't really know the name to be honest, because I wasn't really there with Yer the whole time. But according to her parent, they said the doctor injected Yer with a medicine that suppose to relax her body so it would be much easier to do an x-ray examine on her or something, then a couple minutes after the injection, her body start building up rashes and she became very uncomfortable afterward. The doctor then injected Yer with different antibiotics to try to cure it. Continue.
@drmdk at the time of the antibiotics injection Yer also had a fever too which is not good, but they went ahead and injected her with more and more different antibiotics to see if it would help, and apparently they made it worse, and Yer is getting weaker and sicker to a point where she cannot breathe at all and require an oxygen tank keep her able to breathe. Her body is fill up with so much fluids so they did a surgery on her to get the fluids out of her body. Continue.
@drmdk after they did that surgery, the fluids that came out of Yer body looks almost identical to all the antibiotics they injected her with according to the parents. She then was not able to speak at all and became very very tired, they then transfer her to the San Francisco Hospital within 24 hours, and while she was at the San Francisco Hospital she could not say a thing or move at all. She then pass away within 30 hours or so there. Continue.
@drmdk The parent question the doctors to see if she died because of the of the wrong medicines or antibiotics that was given to her, but the doctor denied and said that she died because of Brain Cancer or something which don't sound right to me. I mean do brain cancer cause your body to build up rashes, and does it make your body fill up with greenish fluids to a point where you cannot breathe at all, then kill you? I don't really think so, and I believe that the doctors is hiding something.

Was the antibiotic Rocephlin or Cephtriaxone ?.
Did they tell you she had serum sickness as cause of death ?
Did they grow the infection in blood cultures?
