  • I don't get the ads anymore.

  • If Sony starts putting ads in their games they will lose this console war big time.

  • In-game ads are not new to the WipEout franchise... the original wipeout had ads for other psygnosis games, WipEout XL had Red Bull ads and ads for musical artists that were featured in the game. I'm sure other wipeout games had ads also but I cant think of them off the top of my head.

  • But those were non-intrusive ads that didn't interfere with gameplay. This ad interfered with the game by holding up gamplay to show the entire ad.

  • Wow this was the lamest video EVER

  • must only be for the usa i aint got the ad.

  • from what i heard only the americans had this, what a crock of shit

  • Never mind, they were removed.

  • Ohhh Sony... Once again you have shown the world just how stubborn you are with your current flop of a system that you have to resort to the ultimate gaming "no no".. lol Honestly...I feel bad for you PS3 owners.. Don't worry.. I am sure it will get worse long before it gets better.

  • dude, XBLA does this ALL the time. search it up.

and btw they just removed this.

  • It's in 1 vs 100. Granted, that's a free (for now) game but that game is plasted with commercials every couple of minutes or so.

  • They give away stuff for free! You get arcade games for free! How do you think they are paying for that?

  • well , if you do a quick search on youtube (you have an Xbox right?) you will find these ads.

they removed the costumizable backgrounds and had ads instead. how gay is that, jeez.

but what im saying these stuff are not sony only. if you played burnout that game is filled with ads.

  • I'm aware, but a) prizes are only given away once a week and b)the ads were present before they started giving away points and games.

Fact of the matter is, they ads shouldn't be there on a game that someone has paid. Especially if they weren't in there at the time of purchase.

  • I am aware of the Ad's that are on XBL in the different topics. And while I dont necessarily think that they should be there, the fact that you arent forced to watch them, and can just skip past them, doesn't bother me and I dont know why so many people are making a fuss over it. No one on here knows exactly how much it takes to keep XBL running, and how much MS pays for the rights to use certain content on their service, so you dont know how much of a profit they are making off these ads.

  • And as far as ads IN video games, they are there for 2 reasons, subliminal advertising, and to add depth to the game experience. They have been in games since almost the beginning, so its nothing new and complaining about that isnt going to change it either.

But you both do have valid points about Wipeout, that add was ridiculous, and shouldn't of been there (as it seemed the sole purpose of the add was to make it seem like the load times took longer).

  • we need.... t... we need to put an end to this! you can take my virginity, but youll never take... MY FREEDOM

  • You don't have to show him damn it! Haha.

  • Aye it's on the loading screen. I fail to see how this is intrusive or violating in any way. Remember the old wipeout titles? Red Bull? Coca-Cola? Designer's Republic?

  • it increases the level load time by about ten seconds. if the game were free and supported by advertising, this may be excusable. instead, sony patched a payed-for game months after it was released to insert unskippable, time wasting advertising.

  • Viral marketing at its finest.

  • Any press is not necessarily good press.

  • Gamestop shoutout! W00t!

  • wtf? that's the best thing i've ever seen!

kidding. not too bad but i guess it could annoy some ppl... i've never had it (europe ^^)

  • Meh, I don't mind the ads. Especially if they help reduce the cost of the software. What bugs me is seeing the same ad over and over again. They should add a few more ads and mix them up. By the way, remember Wipeout XL? They were pimping Red Bull before I ever knew what Red Bull was. It's no biggie as long as they implement it correctly.

  • But in this case, ads were added *after* the game was released and purchased, and without peoples consent.

  • If you're playing Eliminator mode online, then that's all the more reason to get insured.

    Are YOU in good hands?

  • LULZ =)

  • um... NO! I PAID a premium price for this game.

When you buy DVDs does it say "Buy AllState Insurance" before the movie starts? No..

They advertise movies from the same studio.

I would rather see ads from Sony games.. Like Wipeout XL, WipEout pulse on PSN

Nowhere in the disclaimer did it say anything about the game being subsidized be ads that are irrelevant to the product.

Oh ya, can't wait to play Elimnator Mode..... but before I do i should "Eliminate" my monthly insurance fees by 15%.

  • Man, I have been getting this too. What a bunch of bullshit.
