@thedragonb0y mundane , that's the propper word. The mature world-weary (which is not the same as old) character hasn't been expanded as much as it should be in the videogame industry. If you feel like watching the alternate version, just type Nier Replicant on google.
@thedragonb0y well that's exactly what i meant. Nier outisde of japan was a 40 something grizzled warrior veteran. A merc that lived long enough to retire. But because of some marketing decitions , in Japan the main character was a 17 year old bishonen pretty boy that was actually the mcguffins older brother.....I think it was a great decision on the devs part to actually keep the incest undertones in a more "secluded" market.

Going through almost the whole soundtrack, I've noticed a lot of people say positive things regarding Square Enix because of this game...what? No love for Cavia? Although granted, they did shut down shortly after NieR's release, they're the ones responsible for this amazing game and soundtrack, SE simply published it >.>
Back on track, without a doubt NieR has my favourite OST of all time and is easily my favourite game on Xbox :D
As a guy who has never liked fantasy settings much, I have to say that this game has some of the best music I have ever heard. I would say that is my favorite next to Shadow of the Colossus. I wish I could get more music like this, but I can never think of anything.
And besides, KH didn't keep me interested once I got the ultima weapon, got too boring after. Nier, after almost a year with constant playing just to play, I'm still in love with the game play. I know almost everything about the game and I still play.
I still play this game because it gives me those chills that a real gamer gets when something amazing happens on the screen. The story is weird, but also so original and complex. The main character is a badass. I play the version with Nier as the father (not interested in the brother version). The boss battle are intense. The graphics, yeah they aren't the best, but I think they work great for the type of game. KH & KH2 are great, but they're way too predictable and easy.. Instant win for Nier

Kingdom hearts story was good but the story is overdone, im not gonna say anything about the characters, and the music WELL DAMN the i cant even recall the music. This game is magnificent and only a fan girl would think otherwise so stop hating and enjoy or just stop talking.

@project0omega Shadow of the colossus in HD seems to be pretty cool, but if you have a ps3 and enjoys hunting trophies is good that you win trophies and play this masterpiece again. :D
Definatly tragic, what some people don't realise is by killing the shadowlord makes all the shades relapse which kills them all, therefore when the replicants die they will die perminantly because there is no dna to copy, so yeah tragic everyone actually dies.
@darktom7 indeed i didnt even want to finish game but then again hunting those endings were worth it but it still kinda confusing why arnt we getting ending E?
@1UpedAngel I'm sorry, I would disagree with the gameplay..Monster Hunter makes a better game..if this music came into Monster Hunter it wouldn't make much sense but it would be ownage..back to what I was saying this gameplay is only O.k..a 5/10 for my rating I like the spells but the limited areas,monsters,weapons disapoint me dearly.The only reason I bought the game was for the song,Song of the ancients is the best.

I sure know a damn good story. I am playing The Witcher 2 right now and that is a mother fucking good story. The books and games for that. Nier? Not so much. The story is to weird in this game.
The Witcher 2 does have a good story although it doesn't wrap up very well. And since when does a good story have to have different books to be good? Sorry, but I never enjoyed Goosebumps but they sure had a crap load of books. It's about presentation: if you want to read extra media, read the translation of Grimoire Nier, which gives backgrounds to Kaine, Fyra, Jakob and Gideon, how the Grimoires Weiss, Rubrum and Noir came to be and Ending E (a continuation of Ending D)
Also, what Nier had to in order to make money for Yonah's health (although the story only applies to the young Nier, not the Nier we got), and the one about a shade who wanted to be human, all in the form of short stories. If you want to know the events that led up to the "present" Nier, you can read the compilation of logs (which you see every so often during loading screens in the game) from the year 2004 to 2034 and a timeline that goes into more depth all the way to 3300s.
You can also read Weapon Background Stories such as the Iron Pipe, which are journal entries of Nier leading up to the events you play at the very beginning of the game in Shinjuku, or the weapon story of Transcience, which tells of how the city and people of Facade came to be. Everything also gives you an idea of what Project Gestalt was all about and the aftermath of Nier. Much better than a bunch of books you have to shell out a load of money for written in similar fashion.

This game is one of the best ever. Not because it has the best graphics, not because it has the best gameplay (the gameplay was good tho), but because of the story, the music & the story...
