Violence should be stopped in the schools, the bullies should be put together in one room and the rest of the students should go to the regular classes. Also teachers should not be allowed to harm students corporal punishment should be stopped. including sexual harrassment of students by teachers It should be a U.N. project.

I don't dispute that bullying and exploitation are problems in other countries. (Hell, we still have those problems here in the U.S., despite the attempts of some to deny or minimize it.) However, I am not convinced that getting the U.N. involved is the solution.

What the hell is wrong with people like 669dan and slicktibs ?? I'm a therapist and I guarantee you these people need help ! But, they're part of what is wrong with the US, so chances are they won't recognize their own craziness & change they'll just be part of the problem.

Manning up means growing up, being honest and learning to live like an adult. These men may look like men physically but they're dysfunctional children, taking out their anger on whoever they can get their way with.

As a young boy I, too, was bullied and beaten up. I received corporal punishment in the form of 3 blows with a 2-foot paddle with holes drilled in it to make it sting more. My sin? I missed the bus to chorus, which was taught at a different campus! My teacher had me marked down as "tardy but present". No body even asked my side of the story. Within one year I became a troubled and troublesome teenager, turning to alcohol and drugs thus ruining any chance I should have had at a college education.

It's hard to hear a story like this. I hope you get counseling from a good counselor you are comfortable with and begin to repair yourself. I get very angry that bullies and bad teachers too often get away with this. It's so wrong and you know the long term repercussions. I hope you can turn your life around. You deserve it.

Any efforts to improve education are welcome, so respondents should not be so negative.

We owe it to our children all over the world to make sure they have a safe and healthy educational environment.

I agree because my ancestors went to the boarding school projects and were beaten for speeking their own Native American language. Many children died.
