The SoundDock II is not designed for adding speakers. There's plenty of other options with more flexibility for adding on. The SoundDock is a simple iPod solution.

Bose SoundDock uses a supplied Lithium-ion battery. It is partially charged out of the box but a full charge is recommended before initial use. It may take up to 10 hours to recharge completely. The battery provides up to 3 hours of use when set to full volume. You can extend this time significantly by choosing a lower volume. The SoundDock will turn itself off when your iPod is inactive or silent for 10 minutes to prolong battery life.
