  • I know the problem. Your pistons are pointing the wrong way. lol

  • closed deck block... How much boost were you running?? Is that an old school 2.2L???

  • I'm sorry, but that's hilarious. That poor Subaru haha

  • lol thats in his living room

  • normal wear

  • Looks like it was a ringland which turned into breaking the skirt. I'd say they're damn lucky the rod didn't get loose, the engine is probably salvageable with an overbore and new pistons, probably forged would be a good idea if you don't want to see that happen again. Subaru pistons are notorious for losing ringlands, even the turbo ones.

I'm a 21 year old self taught mechanic, built 3 subaru engines, working on my 4th right now and still have quite a bit to learn. Trolling is not appreciated.

  • @bassbone1785 Your analysis is spot on. The plan is to bore it and stroke it with EJ20G heads.

  • @cryptology Fun stuff, I've got a similar setup with (EJ22t stroker) EJ251 heads with Delta 1500s, collecting the last few things and should hopefully have a running build by the first of the year. What turbo are you going to run on it?

  • @cryptology cool, what are you boring it too?? thought ej20g is 2l also, can you do that??

  • @bassbone1785

boxter? easy. Try an SR20DET. mmmm shimming all 16 valves.... f@#$K

  • @fateephat I'll stick to mine thanks.

  • looks legit, put heads back on and roll hard lol

  • How the hell did you do that..?

  • @Ryoukun16 Spent a little too much time on the redline.

  • the second piston is titlted

  • ARE YOU GUYS FUCKIN KIDDING??? that motors fucked man..that will fuck up the head and you will get no compression on that piston...replace it and hone the cylinder..piston slap my ass thatll fuck your engine in the ass, im a 14 year old mechanic guys, come on use common sense

  • @christhetromboneguy It shows that you are 14 and not a mechanic. lol, the video is a joke. They are more than aware that there is a serious problem. Unless of course. you are... a... TROLL! The game.

  • thats normal.. just lower compression for MORE BOOST!!!

  • Oh that? That's just piston tilt... comes like that from the factory, emissions purposes. ;)

  • Nah, nothing wrong with a little piston slap... Put the heads back on and slap a bigger turbo on!

  • oops! ;)

  • It's nothing but a little piston slap...

  • 4 cyliinder engine... smh

  • its still good for another 100k miles : )

  • drunk piston

  • omg wtf it's an EJ22 turbo!!! Closed-deck engine! omg daaahhhh

  • @AWDfreak I know. :(

With some luck, it'll see the light of day again in the next year or so. The block is sitting in the trunk waiting for a machiner to look at it. I'll be boring it out and putting my EJ20G heads on it when the time comes.

  • Juss throw some Rislong ring seal on there, i'tl be fine.

  • dont worry duck tape can fix it

  • What are you talking about, there's nothing wrong there!

Did it lean out and start detonating really bad? And are you doing a full bottom end rebuild while you're down there?

  • Current plan is an EJ20G swap from a JDM GC-8 (waiting to drop it in). At some point in the future I'll swap the EJ20G heads onto the EJ22T block, with fully rebuilt/upgraded insides. But that's a long ways away.

Basically, I pushed it too hard doing cookies in a parking lot, which started to break the ringland, causing piston slap. Originally thought it was a small timing problem, but after changing the timing belt, determined it was an internal issue. So I decided to take it out and thrash it

  • until it died, rather than having it die on the way to school or work or something. You can see the ringland is more or less nonexistent at that point. Dunno exactly what caused it to start going, but it's a little late now to worry about that. Haha.

  • @cryptology from the looks of the spots on the crown, i think it was detonation that killed it. what were the other cylinders like?

  • @charade993 I didn't see anything too out of the ordinary in the other cylinders, but I wasn't really looking for anything specific, either. Wouldn't surprise me if it was detonation, though.

  • @charade993 Also, the spots on the crown are likely from the pieces of aluminum floating around after the ringland went. I don't have the engine at this home, though, so I can't go look to make sure.
