  • Really cool, Im planning on getting an electric Violin for myself, you should get one too, Get some distortion in your metal!

  • Hey i'm just getting into playing folk metal.. what sort of strings would you recommend I get? they all need replacing anyway.

  • Show off......im talking about the standing sideways thing >_>

  • thats really good!!!!

    honestly impressed!!!

  • the first bit sounds like bach's tocatta in fugue

  • @theo7491

Ha! I LOVE Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D minor - one of the finest pieces of music ever, in my opinion. High praise indeed - thank you very much.

  • i got it! he is a spiderman standing on a wall!

  • Pretty rad. Favorited.

  • Yeah I'm commenting on old post but who cares! It was a good metal gig on EViolin. And yeah!! Metal on violin is sooooo coool!

  • :O amazing!!!

  • Simply amazing!

  • nice metal

  • WOW!! Love it! You are awesome!

  • Love it !

  • sounds like master of puppets.

  • Your right.

  • Wow, kickass dude

  • We have a violin in our band! yeaaaah, epic metal! Good stuff, sounds like Apocalyptica: trash with strings

  • Very Good, you should busk with that sort of material, I have been busking on the fiddle for years and I would definitely recommend it, its very good to have a different sort of act to everyone's usual common tunes. Go for as much variety as possible.

  • sounds cool, some of it sounds kinda like master of puppets... cept on a fiddle

  • I love the fiddle and think it needs to be heard more in Metal. I love that your taking it in that direction and I think your doing a super job! Keep it up!

  • nice :)

  • nice.. i like it

  • i play viola, but this is schaweet! good job!

  • cool :-)

    I think you've got a good bow-hand

  • i want to incorporate violin into metal as well, however iv been playing for a few months. Perhaps in a few years

  • Fire on the mountain, run boy run!

  • Like different things on the violin? then youd LOVE this new group called the baroque boyz!!!!!

  • its metal up your ass

  • reminds me of panic attack by dream theater

  • SEXX@@

  • Well, I don't like Metal. But this is just outstanding.

    Keep on!

  • wicked bro 5/5

  • Damn that's awesome

  • wow, thats awesome :D

I also love that you use an acoustic!! Ignore those people telling you to use an electric, acoustics are 10000 times more metal!

good to find more metal fiddlers out there.

  • @CountessFreyja Confession: I do have an electric now (or at least my partner has one and lets me use it) so I might well start recording with either acoustic and/or electric. Electrics are certainly more convenient for recording on a budget...

  • WOW AMAZING !! thats so awesome ! definately 5 starsss !

  • OMG ITS DRACO MALFOY

  • LMFAO

  • @juanyboya Didn't you know that Draco played the fiddle? ; )

  • Well done dude, I'm tryin' the same, the only metal band who has actual success is Eluveitie! We can rock the same stuff on the violin, as on the guitar! KEEP IT UP!

  • nah, their's a tun more (Korpkalanni, Turisas, etc)

  • very nice, try it out on a electrical environment with distortion!

  • dude very awesome!!

i belive violin and Sax metal are gonna start getting populiar

  • Wooow!!! cool!!! my guide and inspiration now that I'm just starting!!!

  • @bijou74 Thanks, that's really flattering! I'm hoping to upload some more stuff once I've got anything worth uploading - knowing people are liking this video is a real inspiration!

  • duuuuuuddddeeee that was sweeeeeeeeet

  • @Vercron Thanks!

  • Hmm, not bad, nice riff and could be incorporated real well; it would also kound kickass with distortion >:)

  • DUDE you are a fucking fiddling god oO do you have other videos?

  • @ningensucker Not as yet I'm afraid but I'm working on some projects so I'll post some stuff as soon as I have anything!

  • good job

    well done

    was more then verry good

    great rhythm

  • it sounds nice but its actually quite easy to play. ive learned how to play it in like 10 mins.

  • Was this before or after you played scissor paper rock with Jesus?

  • naw nigga it was during scissor paper rock not only with jesus but also chuck norris :)

  • @ADHDsloth They both won, I played scissors, Jesus played rock (which beats scissors) and Chuck Norris played Chuck NOrris (which beats everyone).

  • @ADHDsloth Yeah I know (wink) - it was literally something I wrote in about 10 minutes lol! This is pretty old, so I'm hoping to put up some real projects soon.

  • damn....rock on!!!!

  • for how long have you been rocking? i mean, playing?

  • @AlexLococo At the time, about 12 years (this doesn't really show me at my best because at the time I was specialising in folk music...)

  • @TheMetalFiddler damn, not good news since i started a 2 years ago and stopped about 1 year ago =P

  • That's an awesome riff...

    Good job!

  • THATS A VIOLA RIGHT!!??

  • Incorrect that is a fiddle.

  • and the difference btw violin and fiddle is?

  • none, i play a violin and i've had it been called a fiddle and violin... there is no difference

  • the sound, a fiddle sounds more southern style to me, a violin definately sounds different

  • You can google that.

  • I think it's context. What type of music it is. Don't quote me, but I think Violin denotes more classic style and "fiddle" to me says a little more folky or off beat.

  • my original post was made to the ignorent remark of calling a violin a fiddle and saying there is a difference...

both are the name of the instrument (same instrument) word fiddle means VIOLIN in Idish

    Old European Jewish language.

BUT IT IS A SAME THING!!!!

  • it's just the genre of music played on it dude... it's also slang... it get's called a fiddle because some of the predecessors of the violin were called fiddles...

  • it is not a genre - fiddling is playing the violin...in modern english it came to be somewhat of a folksy, but it is not the genre.

Fiddle is a Idish word for Violin. There were never an instrument different from violin called fiddle. can i make it any clearer???

  • @musicmysh for what i know, the difference relies on how you play it instead of the instrument itself

    but i might be wrong

  • that's SICKKKKK

    i want to do that!

    doode.

    motherfuck. :)

    that was crazy good.

  • wow, i thought that was really cool! we need more violinists like you to make people more interested in learning the violin. i like the fact that its acoustic and NOT electric cause its different.

people these days tend to lean toward electric violins (not saying that theres anything wrong with them), but its nice to hear some variety of music on the acoustic violin instead of hearing all the cool music on electric violins.

  • Very good

    xD

  • next time u know u should not rotate the camera

  • @firelemon Yeah, sorry about that! I was recording it normally (or so I thought) then I went to upload and it went sideways!!!

  • ur awesome, you should by and elñectric violin, with distorision ;)

  • Next video (whenever it actually gets done) will have effects.

  • awesome! ill be awating it ^^

  • @TheMetalFiddler Yep. And a band.

  • Really good, especially how he does it standing sideways like that.

  • LOL I like that comment, I gotta say. Yeah the video is skewed, I get it. I recorded it on my (then new) mobile and didn't have any clue how to rotate it the right way up. Sorry about the weirdness.

  • @Akabackalooka I dont care if im replying to a 2 year comment because ive never seen a better comment in my life!!! kudus to you i shall make an award in your honour.

  • Awesome job.

  • Awesome job.

  • he looks like malfoy from harry potter

  • he does...lol

  • awsome! keep up the good work man!

  • This was really really awesome!

  • I am thinking about geting myself a violin... I only played guitar before... how long would it take to readjust to violin?

  • um..idk if your asking him but i thought id reply you..im not sure beacuuse i am i fiddlest at heart but im takin guitar from my cuzin and im perfectly fine. i know some kids who have gone from and theyer better then me.(which probably isent saying much lol.)

  • well, it really has no similarities that you would notice, unless you have a lot of (and i mean a lot) experience with music theory. and since fiddle has no frets and requires learning to properly bow it makes it to be a lot harder to transition. so unless your up for 3 years of sucking id stick with guitar. because it seriously takes three years of one hour everyday before you have enough skill to be any count at fiddle (or violin if you want to play classical)

  • I think its tight man. Fuck those retarded losers up there.

  • Nice song dude.

  • hey, sorry i was so mean last comment. for some reason i am compelled to keep coming to your video... whenever i need a good pickmeup to remind me how much you suck at fiddle

  • And that, by the way, is just bitchy.

  • pick up an electric guitar you would probably be good

  • Agreed. Everyone is so ignorant.

  • would you like to bet me on that?

  • I must say, this video certainly doesn't show me at my best - it was recorded some time ago, using a mobile phone (hence the crappy tone), and playing a riff I'd only just written. If you can 'play metal tht actually qualifies as music', as you so sweetly put it, please do post a video - I'd like to see it.

  • search for lost boys free bird. we also did a cover of a metallica song but it was amazing untill we got on stage then it turned out as shit. but free bird was a pretty good example of rock on a fiddle...

  • awesome shit!

  • lol nvm mind them, you are insane ^^

    5/5

  • wuaoo exelente me encanta

  • Dude, dude, dude, as a heavy metal fan and classicalally trained violist, you'll need a distorted electric violin, only celli and maybe violas have the darker tone neccessary for metal music 'unplugged'.

You might as well play Norwegian black metal on acoustic guitar.

  • Hmm - I could TRY playing Norwegian black metal on acoustic guitar if you like... lol.

When it comes to recording my project (which is sadly taking a while), I fully intend to add effects such as distortion, phaser, etc. wherever needed. The main point of this video was to show the aggressive abilities of the violin, and to demonstrate how cool a fiddle power chord is (IMO).

Oh, and I may well be sticking some viola into some tracks as well...

  • Really cool stuff! I like the mood of it, very dramatic. I hope to see more stuff from you. :)

Don't listen to all the people jabbing about distortion, I really like the sound of this, it's different and a bit pure. Apocalyptica have allready proved that you don't need any electric device to make metal. You also got bands such as Profanum that have no guitars yet provoke a strong black metal atmosphere.

  • Dude I am know as the Black Fiddler out here in San Diego California.I just wanted to tell you to fuck all the haters out there. By playing Metal music without a distortion pedal you demonstrate a true talent of interpetation. Distortion pedals hide mistakes... this is raw... uncut and very good. you are an inpiration and I appreciate. Keep doing what you are doing.I hope to hear some of your other stuff with the pedals and sound effects in the near future

  • This vid reminds me Apocaliptica. XD

  • you will probebly need to distord your violin dude, then it would probebly sound awesome

  • Violins and metal would be insane, I want to hear some black metal with violins \m/ rock on fuck the haters.

  • Metal ??? You mean country or bluegrass i don't know what the hell you are smoking, but pass it this way if that is "Metal"

  • yeah, not to say that it cant be done though, but i agree

  • u r a musical genius!! its people like u who a true musician would truly admire, incredible!!

  • nah, its people like you who keep people like him from practicing untill he actually can play.

  • Sounds so familiar but I don't know from where.

  • O.O"

    sweet skillz

  • wow that was amazing

    totaly love it

    well done

    omg i wanna do that

    x

  • That is soooo cool!!

  • SCORE!! i'll look out for that, most definitely!!!

  • WOW. AMAZING. i would love to see an a metal fiddling band, with two fiddlers, and a standup bass, and perhaps some drums....does that exist somewhere? Anyway, I really enjoyed that and love seeing people like yourself keeping the music alive.

    cheers.

  • I'm planning to start work very soon on a multi-track recording project much like that - using a great drum machine I've got on my computer, and playing all other parts on violin (and singing). Will post it on here if/when it's ready...

  • sounds like apocolyptica

  • that's with cello's =o

  • do you know the band Mägo de Oz? they are a Spanish Irish/Metal band. I think you would like them

  • Not heard of them but will check them out - thanks!

  • i know this music from some where :\....

not sure were but great skills =D

  • Cheers mate!

You've heard it before??? I thought I made it up myself. Maybe something went in through my subconscious...

  • great vid dood....dose anyone know if playing guitar gives you any advantage in learning the violin? ...ive been playing guitar and bass for years..and want to play violin but i rlly dont have hours to devote to it like i did when i started guitar... i realize it takes work just wondering if it shares any similarites with guitar

  • Not sure - playing the violin sure helped me when I waas learning guitar but the methods of playing are significantly different and I had to be cured of a few bad 'habits' from the moment I started playing guitar! The lack of frets can be very confusing if you're used to a guitar, I'll say that. But I reckon it's always worth a go - let me know how you get on!

  • thanx dood... yea i play fretless bass so that shouldnt be to bad.... im def. gona try cant hurt anything... thanx again

  • Good for you! Let me know how you get on!

Bit puzzled about your username btw... :-S

  • lol my friend finaly told me he way gay after like 3 years of knowin him so i make fun of him alot kinda an inside joke lol

  • Ah I see - makes sense now lol. Best of luck with your violin playing!

  • thanx dood !

  • No problem mate - have fun playing!

Which reminds me, I should really make some more videos - I've got a whole lot more stuff I want to upload but I'd much rather not keep using my mobile... lol

  • awsome. i love violin

  • that's awesome!

  • If you live in Canada, I would like to have someone like u in my band!

  • England I'm afraid... Sorry. :-(

  • nice - will post soon Bertie

  • wow. that was amazing. i wish i could learn to play somethin like that on the viola. your amazing.

  • I reckon it would be cooler if you used the violin for more lead stuff rather than riffing but this still sounds awesome!

  • Sounds pretty awesome, you should be in like some sort of either Folk metal band or if you like Death Metal like i do, Folk Melodic Death Meta. Type thing.

  • I think it is very good, You have a lot of talent. The picture quality isn't great though.

  • sounds like a zelda fight song remix

  • Hey, that's nice!

    I like it!

  • Very nice indeed

How long have you been playing?

    you should copyright/sell :P

  • dude you fuking kick ass!

    did you wrote it?

can you show me how to play it in my violin?

  • Wow, that was goood.

I'm still on Bach and Dvorak and Vivaldi.

  • WOW. I dont suppose you have that written down in midi notate or pdf do you? Jeez... thats amazing...

Ive played violin for 6 years and ive always been stuck in the "classical rut"... and i want out! But i cant seem to find any decent metal/rock for violin... :(

    5/5

  • nice

  • damn that's fuckin sick good job man...respond to one of my vids with the violin version that would be amazing haha!

  • Cool! It kind of reminds me of this one cover that Apocalyptica did for the album Inquisition Symphony. I just don't remember what the name of it is.

Anyway, that was awesome! I wanna do something like that too...but I suck so...

PS- Call me a purist, but I think acoustic is way cooler than electric.

  • Very nice. You need an electric, dude...that would sound insane with some distortion.

  • sweetness

  • that was pretty rad dude. Makes me want to play the violin even more.

  • its pretty frikin awesome. im into this stuff to. i do alitle bit. but, dude. this is pretty sweet

  • awesome

  • woah that was soo cool, go stephen lol I like the chorus but loads...x
