Watch out for pre-workout drinks! I just discovered that 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine is actually another name for Caffeine. It is found in many pre-workout drinks. I have been using "Power Pump 7" for about 2 years and quitting cold turkey is hell. My lower back is out and I feel like a zombie. They do not list the mg of 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine however they do state on the bottle it is 2 servings (in a very small bottle). They know they are creating Caffeine addicts for their profit.
@MormonManUtah Oh I hear you on that. I had been taking 1MR for a while. Never really cycled off in between containers. At one point (I am on meds for anxiety) the benefits of the supplement just didn't outweigh what it was doing to my anxiety. So I stopped, cold turkey. Since then I have not had any headaches (then again I usually never get them), but I have been tired, yawning, depressed, in the morning my anxiety is almost too much to handle. FML
I've been drinking coke non-stop for about five years and then quit cold turkey a 2-months ago. The whole recovery process took me all these two months.
Aside from the physical symptoms I got, the worst was anxiety. It was pretty bad the first couple of weeks and sometimes, it came with a tinge of depression. I never felt suicidal though, and I am thankful for that.
ugh I HATE THIS FEELING. Im 15 years old and last night was about my third cup of coffee i have ever had in my life and after a while I just feel really weak and i get feelings of throwing up. this is terrible ive never felt like this but i HATE it
I'm going through a bad caffeine withdraw right now. I promised myself to not drink tea on the weekends but I felt so sluggish that I literally couldn't get off my ass to do anything if I didn't have my tea :/ For me weaning down is easier than cold turkey.
I have ADHD and I only use caffeine when I don't take Ritalin... they both are horrible drugs though and I plan to give them up after I finish college...
Not quitting, just haven't been to the grocery store, and I refuse to go just for 1 item. Been without for about 2.5 days now, and I'm feeling miserable. Couldn't figure out why, then about 5 minutes ago it dawned on me that I'm going through caffeine withdrawal, and decided to look it up on youtube. Having major headache, extreme irritability, very sluggish, heart is palpitating like mad--it is also beating very hard from time to time. I'll pretend I'm interested in the neighbor to get a cup.
4 months without coffee. i've said it before, i'll say it again. i'd rather give natural childbirth to 10 kids than have to go through coffee withdrawal again my adrenals are STILL trying to get in balance.
One symptom that they don't mention is depression. I was addicted to caffeine (coke and coffee) and was drinking at least 3 cups/day. When I stopped "cold turkey" I not only experienced headaches and muscle pain, but also went into a deep depression for a week. I could not stop crying and I just wanted to sleep through life. It wasn't until later that I realized it was because of caffeine withdrawal. I will never start drinking caffeinated beverages again!
@puppiesxsunshine I quit all caffeine for over a year, that whole time I just felt like I never reached the level of happiness I had while drinking caffeine. The first few weeks of no caffeine were horrifying to the level of wanting to string myself up to a lamp pole.
@photolitherland an advice : dont go cold turkey if you drink 10 cups of coffee,it might be dangerous(i am in no position to give you any advice since i am a layman but i fear it might be dangerous)instead cut it like for first3 days 5cups for next 3 2cups tthen 1 cup and then no cup also caffiene, sugar, tobacco food additives and few other things make anxiety/ocd/depression symptoms worse ,do google search on : caffiene ocd ,sugar ocd..etc, youl get good info and advice ,wish you best of health
@russrossbob I disagree with the cold turkey method, I tried cold turkey twice, each time by day 4 it felt like there was a butcher's knife in my head. I suggest reducing the amount slowly....but that's me.
@DeathAdder83 you are smart and correct. It's funny.. but i've NEVER once seen someone mention 50/50 coffee half calf... then cut to 25/75...... 12.5/87.5 .. maybe take 6 weeks until arriving at decaf..or stopping if you choose ...
@MegaCrumbsnatcher caffiene actually is a drug ,you dont beleave me? dink 3-4 cups of coffee for 1 full week and then quit cold turkey, just see what happens
I quit cocaine, coffee, and smoking for a week and was like, sobriety is great, but Im bored.

There are a host of herbs and supplements one can take to nourish their body to eliminate the need for caffeine. I encourage everyone to research it.
