So I guess Hugo died many centuries later. And, again, if there was no more "evil" on the island, there's no way to die. And Hurley had Jacob's "powers" I guess, so he could have given Ben an eternal life or something like that.
I liked the show and the ending explains a lot of things. But it could have been definitely better. Or, at least, with more details.
I literally think they should have added a couple of episodes to explain the BEFORE and the AFTER the Island. Just saying...
It's amazing after how much pain and suffering that took place on the island because of Ben, I still feel for him here. Most of the show is open to interpretation and I think one of the main reasons Ben didn't go into the church was because he wanted redemption. He may have felt that he didn't belong in the Church and had the opportunity to fix his mistakes in the Alt-world with Alex
@FiveStarWookie Well, the ending is really religious. From that point, you could say that everyone could be forgiven if he accepts the "good" in his heart. And apparently, Ben did that while being Hurley's number 2, and protecting the world from the evil (an evil that supposedly was dead).
I am getting lost here. It's impossible to completely explain the ending anyway. They've left it open to the imagination and I bet it wasn't by accident.
the ending was good! Good closure on the characters. I don't understand why people whine about having unanswered questions! What unanswered questions were there? Name some!
man i miss this show :/ however i still cant believe they put a cross next to all those other symbols, as if they were somehow equal? thats crap, but meh, i still miss my show.
this moved me more than any other scene in the series, even more than the end, michael emerson and terry o'quinn are 2 of the finest actors i've ever had the honour to watch
@mecagoenboba You could say so. He became a good person with Hurley but before that here in the Sideways he gets the chance to make it up to all the people he wronged. He stays out of the church after aplogizing to Locke as a way of aplogizing to all of that group for what he did. Next he'll work stuff out with the people he wronged that are still in the Sideways. A few things out of his control like Smokey tricking him as his Mom, becoming an Other after Sayid shot him, started his evil choices
@hvslayer He hadn't forgiven himself yet. The whole point of the "alternate" time line was for the characters to come to terms with themselves, to forgive and move on. Ben still very clearly had yet to resolve things with his daughter.
@hvslayer Also Danielle and his Dad who he gives oxygen to here, but killed with gas. Plus more like Ana Lucia, Charles, freighter people who came to the island gor him other DHARMA like Peirre Chang and Michael/Walt based on who he said to Walt he can help his dead dad in the DVD epilouge. So Michael won't be a Whisperer forever. And Ben aplogises by staying outside for everythinh he did tothe Church group in Season 2-4 and some of 5 before he turned good.
@Captbigbeard I agree, but did you get the impression that Ben and Danielle were meant for each other? The Sideways/Afterlife helped the characters understand how their lives would have gone if circumstances had been different. Ben would have been a gentle and wise teacher if his alcoholic father had nurtured him. I suspect Danielle Rousseau would have filled in the empty spaces in his life as he would have done the same for her. I speculate he'll cross over later holding her hand.
That one second, how he delivers that one line "Hello Hugo," pretty much sums up how well things went on the island under Hurley's rule without showing anything. The warmth in that greeting represents Ben's shift in character and redemption more then anything imho.
OOOHHH I can't wait for the Adventures of Hurley and Ben and **SPOILER ALERT** (you have been warned) Walt. It will be on the DVDs. In case you didn't know.
Oh man, don't say that... They have something special... it's like Matthau and Lemmon :) Seriously hoping Terry can get that show he's always talking about up and running. I'd watch the two of them watch paint dry.
@lostbengirl It would have been awesome to see a bit of that Hurley and Ben dynamic. I guess both of them protected the island together for quite a long time, maybe even longer than Jacob.
So I guess Hugo died many centuries later. And, again, if there was no more "evil" on the island, there's no way to die. And Hurley had Jacob's "powers" I guess, so he could have given Ben an eternal life or something like that.

Orgasmic news for LOST fans across the globe (especially Benji/Emerson and Locke/O'Quinn fans) Our favourite odd couple is gonna be back -
Their show (working title 'OddJobs') has been picked up by NBC. Rejoice!
Abrams got it done.
