I remember when get up tried to pull themselves off like a fair and balanced group to help you decide what part you wanted to vote for. Now there like fuck that everyone be left wing and watch out the liberal party Is evil.
@aektzis91. You totally missed the point. THERE IS NO CARBON PROBLEM with the atmoshpere. Plant life needs the 1/27th of a % to survive. History will tell you...if you bothered to look, that this is an 800 year climate cycle. The globe has cooled by .7 in the last ten years. So much for global warming. This whole process was started by the Builderburgers about 7 years ago. They want to trade carbon on the stock market. Have the common sense to look a litle deeper into this, dont accept the Lie.
@Merusdraconis theres no hard science, where scientists have produced articles without political bias, editing the stats, 'forgetting' information that opposes its us, only using what they want, and sometimes downright lying to us. Read the climategate emails from climate scientists that got hacked.
Carbon...is not the enemy. its just a way to tax us and make us think wer doing the right thing, when it doesnt at all!
@sneakyguy4444 The Climategate thing's a beat-up. They talk about a 'trick' with tree measurements like it's a smoking gun, but it's because after 1992 the formula for what temperature the trees think it is doesn't match what we recorded off thermometers. The real smoking gun, and the only argument that matters, is a model for climate where carbon emissions aren't a factor. After billions of dollars spent, it doesn't exist. Good enough for me.
@sneakyguy4444 "theres no hard science" have you ever read a scientific paper in your life? go to the two biggest journals in science today - nature and science - and type in climate change. tell me how many thousand studies disprove your position before you can find one out the thousands to twist and support your view? you do realise that for the past 40 years we've been able to track the levels of incoming and outgoing radiation.
@sneakyguy4444 "bankrolled by institutions who benefit from a carbon tax" got any evidence for that claim or are you so lazy you feel you can keep your ideology safe by just saying all the tens of thousands of studies showing how wrong you are, are all just part of a big conspiracy.
@AussiePolitics So what youve been able to analyze the last 40 years. WELL DONE! you cant account for the billions of years of climatic change, from the many ice ages we have had to scorching temperatures far higher than we have ever known. Guess what? High CO2 emissions didnt wreck the planet to the point of no return. Guess what? we didnt burn anything to create planetary infernos. Even the medieval warm period was far warmer than now. Theres your proof, simplistically for you
@sneakyguy4444 "analyze the last 40 years" no, what modern satellites have been able to do is provide empirical evidence that CO2 in the atmosphere is trapping outgoing radiation. It means that people like yourself who I bet have argued that CO2 does nothing in the past cannot use that argument as an excuse.
@sneakyguy4444 "Even the medieval warm period was far warmer than now" lol thanks for showing me right away that you have done NO scientific research and have just read websites that conformed to your bias. the medieval warm period was NOT warmer than now, the only people who claim otherwise are non-scientists who like to invent their own facts. so no, it is not proof, its another example of you denialists lying.
@sneakyguy4444 "you cant account for the billions of years of climatic change" actually I recently wrote a literature review on the past 500 million years of climate change, and the fact that you think this is an argument tells me right away you are so lazy you have never read a single scientific paper on this issue. the fact you are so ignorant you think scientists state that CO2 is the only thing that ever changes the climate is just so sad.
@sneakyguy4444 do you just believe everything you read online? the fact you are parroting such obvious myths as the medieval warm period being warmer or the fact that because the climate has changed before it cannot be humans this time tells me the only 'research' you have done is go to websites that conform to your narrow unscientific views.
What a fucking joke this lying bitch is.There is 1/27th of 1% carbon in the atmosphere of which man contributes 3%. Ohh shit lets screw the people of Australia. We have no money in the govt coffers 'cause we continuously spend wirth irrisponsibility, so lets play the game the Builderburgers started and make up a story to trade carbon. Wake up Ozzies...we are being screwed by wankers who dont even live in thios country.
@Mrgator351 wtf, the government is taxing large companies responsible for large amounts of carbon pollution, and in order to stop the effect of those companies raising the price of electricity, food, etc the government is recompensating members of the public. if anything, most families are actually going to be financially better off because of the carbon tax!! I agree that the gov hasnt been spending effectively lately, but this policy is actually really good, unlike what most morons think.
@aektzis91 The 'link' between CO2 levels and global temperature increases has been conclusively broken during the past 10 years. This carbon tax is obsolete policy.
@goggycozzle is it really such a bad thing to encourage reverting to cleaner energy sources?? even if climate change is a myth, the coal industry is unsustainable.
@goggycozzle the whole point of the carbon tax is to use proceeds to not only compensate families but also to fund research so that wind or solar may eventually be realised as a viable alternative. without funding there can be no research.
WHY is it Carbon credits are up for Austion by GRAYS online today. Being sold by a sydney solar company with verified credits underwritten by US & UK finance companies. As well as promoted by some dubious Inidan operators. Not forgetting the verifying company has members such as Coca Cola, Nike, JP morgan, Bank Swiss + More. yep all credible scientific authorities to ENFORCE GLOBAL SCAM TAX.
No your wrong there wont be job losses in the coal industry! There will more made, as we export brown coal to India & China to use (cheaply with no Carbon tax) But it will all be OK because the carbon produced in India & China wont leave there it will just stay within their borders? But the huge green manufacturing investment here will save us.....right!
Australia the only country with the balls to do anythging. USA what a bunch of cocksuckers. Oh we can t do any thing right now we still have trillions of dollars of filthy poluting carbon producing iraqi oil to sell to pay our debts.
We are so greedy we have run our credit to drowning point and we steal from other nations to full our FAT FAT greedy gutsy faces. DIE USA.
So you're saying if it was Kevin Rudd who lied his face off to the Australian people and implemented the carbon tax I'd have only good things to say about him, simply because he's not a women? Wow you sure got this stereotype thing down pat hey. Stereotyping is not a good thing mate...
All you people talk about these anti-carbon tax advocates as being "ignorant" or "blind"... Well who is blind enough to trust a Liar like Julia Gillard who blatantly said in her own words "there will be no carbon tax" and who is a member of the Socialist Fabian Society (who's symbol is a wolf in sheep's clothing)? This isn't an argument about science, it's an argument about politics. A carbon tax means more power to these mongrels and less to we the people. Will it help stem climate change? No..
@Schredder222 okay ... remember when mummy said she'd take you to the playground, but then it rained and she didn't take you to the playground
its called CHANGED FUCKING CIRCUMSTANCES. so mummy didn't want to "lie", but things nonetheless changed
For FUCKS sake ... she didn't know that she'd have to form alliances before the election. You people are like broken records, and are such utter MORONS. So a few rich turds pay a couple extra cents tax; big effing deal whats it got to do with you???
@alSation81 See, you call me a moron, but if you'd read my other comments, you'd have seen that I was saying this is about more than climate change!!! It's about power, unquestioned compliance and loss of freedom. It's a move towards Fascism or in Gillard's case, Socialism. Those in power say "hey people there's an invisible threat which we need to protect you from. Simply don't ask questions and give up your freedoms and free thought and we will keep you safe!" Oldest trick in the book...
@Schredder222 you sound like a hillbilly tea-partier ... why don't you piss off to the states and leave the cheap scare politics out of this debate. its embarrassing what Abbott has done to political dialogue in this country
@slh950 And therein lies the ignorance... "leave the politics out of this debate." What you don't believe in democracy? You don't think these questions deserved to be answered or for that matter asked??? That's exactly what I'm saying is dangerous for this country! I actually like having the right to question the policies which dictate the future of my life and this country thankyou very much! Abbott has done nothing but hone in on public discontent. Any opposition leader would do the same.
@slh950 As for the tea-partier comment, don't stereotype me you ignorant fool. Do you see me voicing concern for gun rights, general taxation, healthcare or anything like that? Bigots such as yourself should realise that people against the carbon tax aren't represented by a single demographic...
@Schredder222 you think "socialism" is a bad word? then I feel sorry for you. but how on earth is a market mechanism "socialist" anyway?
you're just a bunch of sexist sore losers. two years is a hell of a long time in politics, and soon enough we'll see what kind of heartless freak Abbott really is. good luck to you
@alSation81 Haha so the truth comes out! You're a socialist. I don't think it's a bad word, I think it's a bad system... How many times do you have to learn from history? Sexist? Hahaha man you crack me up. Socialists love the irrational ad hominem name calling. I'm sexist because I don't support a carbon tax? According to you I'm also a tea-partier and a redneck... What else you got? Homophobe and racist because I don't support a carbon tax? Now who sounds like a broken record?...
@Schredder222 I said you're a bunch of sexist sore losers, because the last election was so close, instead of moving on and being positive you are just negative and disruptive ... but nonetheless things will move ahead.
the rest of your message ... the ramblings of a moron
@Schredder222 to quote you calling our prime minister ... "a slimy witch named Julia..." . also heard a hillbilly protester refer to our first female prime minister as a "scrag"
the truly sad part is, when the ETS comes into play, and works well, all you anonymous little masturbators with your nasty remarks will fade away like a fart on the breeze looking for something else to gripe about
@getdownaustralia a woman's place in life is wherever she chooses to make it, whether that be a great home-maker or a great prime minister, like the one we have
@Schredder222 whatever but how can the Liberal party claim to be sooo very worried about blue-collar workers when its the rich fat c**ts that really benefit from no carbon tax. its like suddenly everyday Australians don't want the ultra-rich to be taxed fairly ... WTF?
The Labor Govt are terrible at advertising and making known their successes, I really hope this is shown on tv. Too many ignorant whingey arseholes ignore fact and are easily taken in by the opposition.
"We could just release real scientific data which shows world has not warmed but cooled down in last 10 years while CO2 was constantly rising, hence proving there is as much relation to CO2 levels to temperature as there is with Stork numbers to number of new babies" ... Maybe that line would work?
Yeah, that Malcolm Turnbull guy, he likes a price on carbon, he must be left-wing. He's also a millionaire and strongly believes in the market economy.
Unless you discount both Economics and Climate Science, Global Warming transcends politics.
The whole Climate Wars things is well rooted in anti-communism and post-Cold War Warriors and Free Market Fundamentalism (a religion).
There is also a connection the Tobacco Wars and Fred Singer was up to his neck in that one too. "Freedom of choice" (EPA pointed to dangers to CHILDREN).
These people refer to ANY environmantalist as "Melons" - they are Green on the outside and RED on the inside. They say this a BACK-door Socialism.
@getupaustralia G'day... Lovely clip. All too true, sadly... Look, if y' seriously want to lower y'r Carbon Footprint..; fit a streamlined Solar Panel to y'r vehicle. Unload the (Parked) Electric Systems-Drain from the (2.5%-3.5% Fuel-Efficient) Step-Up Belted Alternator. Saves 5-25 Litres, per week, per Car. I do it... Search 'SunFoil Short-Talk' & 'SunFoil Science' & 'SunFoil Mk2 Construction' ; & view a few clips, then DIY... It does work !
@N2111985 well... no... it's because the problem extends beyond just being warm. when people hear "Global Warming" they think that it just means the world gets hotter. In effect, global warming does more than this- it makes a complete balls-up of the climate, including weather patterns. El Nino/La Nina events speed up with climate change (and yes, increased atmospheric c02), making a whole mess of things, not just giving us a little extra heat
Bah socialists... Tax the shit out of everything so everyone is poor...
There are much better ways to manage Australia's environment. More tree plantations for example (which will actually create jobs rather than destroy them).
@elevander are you serious? Most tree plantations create more carbon than they consume, not to mention the excessive amount of water they consume from the water table. The solution isn't simple, but having grown up next to and also owning land next to a tree plantation, would take the carbon tax any day. Try looking up monoculture tree plantation online.
Lets implement a Carbon Tax and then PRIVATIZE that tax in 2015 by handing it over to a bunch of International Banksters in a ENRON designed ETS scam that includes Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, Al Gore, Maurice Strong (An Oil Billionaire wanted for questioning over the UN Food for Oil con) and other shady characters and corporate cronies.
Now thats being a good leftist and environmentalist...
Look, you obviously don't understand the basics of economics if you support the carbon tax. You've been sucked in by a bunch of socialist propaganda, convincing you this is a good idea. Well, It's not. There are hundreds of better ways to help the environment than to TAX industries.
Seriously, rethink your opinion of this issue. It is NOT A GOOD IDEA.
The positive effect this will have on the environment is nothing compared to the negative effect it will have on the environment.
@GrimDarkly Economics really? How about the microeconomics of this, consumers will buy more less carbon-intensive products as the rest will have higher prices or the invisible hand that self corrects the market serve our own interests. The main idea of the carbon tax is to transition Australian businesses and households to become more efficient. In a survey of the 145 economists from the Economic Society of Australia, 60% agreed to the policy, 25% against and the remaining 15% had no opinion.
@GrimDarkly Also, from the same survey, 85% of the economists also rejected the coalitions plan, direct action as it was not a sound economic policy that would work. How dare you say that someone must not understand the basics of economics if someone was to support the carbon tax, who the hell are you to say that anyways?
how bout fuck get up and fuck taxes that wont change shit.. carbon tax = win for goverment and bankers = loss for Australians who are already finding it hard to make ends meet... fuck you green cunt hippy fuckers when society eventually gives in fallout style u cunts are the ones im going to eat, litrally
@AlwaysTheLegend4Evr There have been complaints recently of how this government is failing our democracy, so I guess you are right to say stupid ppl that have no idea what is best for Aus get to vote. The stupid people being the 25% that still support it ! This tax will have no effect on the environment - unarguable fact. It will not promote investment in new technologies anymore than a capitalist desire to profit will.
carbon tax 5 years down the road when the economy picks up, not when its as fragile as it is right now. australia is booming only because of asia but asia does not like purchasing but saves more. so what happens when they stop buying?
@timorz99 humans are made out of appoximately 8% carbon. Still believe in it dip fuck? The real problim lies in the ecosystem itself. The more trees we cut down = the less carbon absorbed. What does a price on carbon do? Clean energy solutions? Wait... What are solar panels made out of? Australia has the most uranium in the world. Yet we only have 1 power station for medical purposes. Nuclear - tax smd ass holes.
I believe in a price on carbon, but i don't agree with all the fine print in the tax. It taxes industry and households based on earnings rather than carbon emissions
And in Spain for every green job that was created, 2 real jobs were lost. And their carbon emissions have increased by 50% since the government launched its "green jobs" programme.
A nice clean PET (Plutonium Emissions Tax), i said "PET" i said "love" i said "PET" i said "love" , i said "PET" i said "love" i said "PET" i said "love"!!!! We are not elementally a racist nation (Yet.). Why not tax everything based on the toxicity and not be narrow minded about this. Taxing the nuclear industry would provide a windfall and perhaps encourage it to be house trained.
Mon Fuhrer...It amounts to elemental racism. We need a Plutonium Emissions Tax (PET) as well!!
To prove we are not racist here in Au we need to put a tax on all pollution based on toxicity. I can see it now, a perfect race of Climate Changers fighting it out with solar flares, back to back earthquakes and such doesn't do it for smart, non elementally racist Australia.
Don't educate people about the works of Nikola Tesla, Wilhelm Reich, Viktor Schauberger, Lutek, Tom Beardon, Stan Deyo, Ed Leedskalnin, or anyone else who had these problems solved years ago!!!
I really hope that an effective pro carbon tax ad gets on telly. I'm so sick of the anti-carbon tax ads funded by the coal industry. And even more disturbingly, I saw a pro coal seam gas ad the other day. The sad thing is, most people don't take the time to inform themselves, they form their opinions on what they're told to believe.
@curiouscookie Your comments are outstanding!! When all you hear is how bad the Carbon tax will be and make the Skys fall inn You have someone like Alan Jones lying through his teeth to help the Liberal party take office
where was these anti-carbon tax people when the GST was in the wings
Alan Jones was thanked by the Liberal party for telling the Australian people how great it would be
I don't like any new tax... Why not talk about the issue and not have the Australian media talking shit
@flyerboy1963 True, nobody likes any new taxes being introduced! I don't really understand the fear mongering that's going on in the media either. Do we really need there to be a special program explaining the carbon tax in the most dumbed down way possible?
Don't get me started on Alan Jones or John Laws or the single minded idiots that listen to them.
@curiouscookie Absolutely they do. That is why GetUp has such a following of young people that haven't had the benefit of full brain development and experience to think for themselves or research a topic without the material being laid at their lazy fingertips. Imagination spawns ideals that rarely work outside the imagination.
@ellicattube Still leaving you hypocritical brain-poo all over the interweb I see. I'm still waiting to have you explain all these "great truths" to me old man. But, I suppose that actually reading some scientific data from a trusted source would mean less time filming your dogs eating a basketball stand...or any other sort of mind numbingly tedious and inane stuff. Hillbillies that think themselves bush-intellectuals are such amusing creatures.
Feeling threatened by the truth diddums ? If I haven't answered one of your questions it must have been one of those inane and stupid ones that I mistook for blind faith rhetoric.
@ellicattube You wouldn't know what the truth is if it jumped up and bit you on your fat, bogan ass buddy. Have you even bothered to read any reports on climate change from the scientific community. The Australian Academy of Science's report is a good start. It has lots of pretty colourful pictures so you should like it. it's not a pop-up book though...so you probably won't understand any of it.
@wasdom01 Oooh, Someone's pretty feathers a bit ruffled are they ? lmao @ you. Anything useful to say or just more of the same old playing the man and not the ball when your failure at debate looms near ?
@wasdom01 I can't recall if I have read that one. There's so many & they go out of date so quickly it is hard to keep up. 1 thing they never say is that Australia imposing a carbon tax to reduce emissions by 160M tonnes by 2020 will reduce the Globe's temperature. Not even in their questionable data models. The closest I've found is that if Australia completely stopped emissions 100% = no difference at all. I guess you may have not seen that if you confine your reading to partisan papers.
@ellicattube That's better. Look, it's actually pretty clear that you are interested in this subject and that you can - at least - use Google to search for things. I did think it was funny that you didn't include Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard in your list of Sydney Institute speakers that you sent me a while ago though. That 'climate scientist' that spoke at the institute is a fairly well known computer scientist from Macquarie whose work has many flaws. So the AAoS is partisan eh? Funny stuff.
Funny add. The irony is the reverse of this is what has occurred to get the GetUp supporters onboard in the first place. Hilarious that the majority of respondents don't see this.
When somebody says they are global warming deniers, I ask if they have looked at the science? If they say yes, I've got them cold. "In that case I suppose you know what the tropospause is and the difference between the troposhere and the stratosphere?" I then get blank looks "you really haven't, have you?"
Therein lies the problem, it's all "he said" and "she said" and means NOTHING.
The science was settled 16 years ago, and if you deny it, same as denying tobacco as unhealthy.
@mayuhavepeace You are joking right? I would guess that you mix with like minded morons to have that sort of response to an irrelevant question. The science is far from settled as it is with most "theories", and in the last 5 years thousands of climate scientists have stated it to be false and most of their theories ARE peer reviewed and agreed upon.. There is no proof of AGW that is irrefutable and wont ever be as its all a con. Try adding water vapor to modeling programs to see it all fail.
The ipcc software makes little or no correlation between cloud cover or water vapor saturation within their models, therefore they get the so called "proof" the man is to blame with his carbon output, but add cloud and water vapor to the models and the card house falls apart. With an planet that naturally produces 97% of the carbon we have, dont you think it strange that just 3% that we contribute can be to blame?? I cant and wont ever be to blame. Fool.
@mayuhavepeace Point to where i used the word "yours".. How left wing of you, you have no proof of AGW so you revert to play ground insults upon grammar and spelling..
And never have I stood in agreement with F singer.
So try again Fool, to show me proof that man kind is to blame, and not some ipcc modelling rubbish.
To me it has got nothing to do with being Left or Right, in fact this is what is WRONG with this, shouldn't even enter into the discussion.
Personally, I am probably VERY conservative. In fact, if you asked me about gay marriage, abortion and stuff like THAT, you would definitely think I am a CONSERVATIVE. Maybe I am, just don't want to be labelled. in fact NOBODY has the right to do that IMO.
You call me fool? How would you know? Have we met?
Only if you have an open mind, or I would be wasting my effort.
And yes, I think the science got it right. I have that kind of a background. Got friends at the ANU, yes they are scientists and thoroughly decent human beings and they insult nobody. I started to ask questions and I got answers that helped me to make up my mind.
I invite others to actually EXAMINE before making a final decision.
The vapour absorption rate is well known and is indeed greater than CO2, 2x. But it has a "noise" like signature since it has a short term cycle. My field is acoustics and know about "noise" vs "signal" and how signal can be masked by noise. But signal has a different signature and using modern computer maths we can separate the two. This was behind the chapter 8 of the IPCC Report.
@Adirtybird You need to be left winged to have proper grammar/spelling? It's like everything bad you name left winged. Oh the TV reception is down? That's so left winged. I need a better computer? That's so left winged. I need to get a prostate exam? That's so left winged.
Here's a little known fact. The science that has concluded there is a "discernible" human influence on climate, has been more extensively peer reviewed than any science issue in the history of mankind.
But those who write endless anti-climate change articles, use magazines such as The Wall Street Journal and THEY ARE *NEVER* PEER REVIEWED.
This is a FACT. These articles includes some gross distortions. They are also the first to complain IF there was NO peer review. Hypocrits.
Many of The Wall Street Journal articles are by S. Fred Singer.
Google his name and you will find his name (and others) connected with sowing doubts about the science regarding TOBACCO. He has been in this business of denial since 1953, which happens to be the year that cancer was linked to tobacco. Despite the science being setlled then, tobacco companies didn't loose any court cases until the 80s. Thanks to the likes of Singer, Seitz etc, they all climbed on this NEW issue.
@webtopia perhaps it could be combined with a more standard ad to promote the carbon tax, and this one could be the light relief one. I think it's pretty good and it will get people talking.
@RupertAndCheese Dead weight loss is the loss of efficiency that comes from all taxes. It is lost when a tax shrinks both the producer and consumer surplus of a product, part of each surplus goes to the government as tax revenue but the reminder becomes a dead weight loss to the economy.
I agree that the carbon tax isn't the best way to tackle the issue of climate change, but it's a step in the right direction, and do you seriously think that the liberals would allow one of the more effective ways?
The best way to do it would probably just be to pour a fuckload of money into setting up renewable farms, but they probably couldn't pass that bill if they tried.
And I thought the keep mining strong adds were bad, I read the title of this and was expecting something a little less stupid

I agree that the gov hasnt been spending effectively lately, but this policy is actually really good, unlike what most morons think.
aektzis91 3 months ago
@aektzis91 The 'link' between CO2 levels and global temperature increases has been conclusively broken during the past 10 years. This carbon tax is obsolete policy.
goggycozzle 3 months ago
@goggycozzle is it really such a bad thing to encourage reverting to cleaner energy sources?? even if climate change is a myth, the coal industry is unsustainable.
aektzis91 3 months ago
@aektzis91
The only up and running viable alternative to coal is nuclear.
Wind and solar cannot sustain base load current over more than one or two months per year.
goggycozzle 3 months ago
@goggycozzle the whole point of the carbon tax is to use proceeds to not only compensate families but also to fund research so that wind or solar may eventually be realised as a viable alternative. without funding there can be no research.
aektzis91 3 months ago
@aektzis91
The exponential demand for power requires immediate investment in proven technologies, ie, coal, nuclear and hydro.
The reality of nuclear trumps the pipe-dream of wind/solar.
Nuclear power is neither clean, nor safe. Yet that is where the majority of the green dollars will go.
For all the benefits of research, this argument is presently coal versus nuclear.

No..

@N2111985 well... no... it's because the problem extends beyond just being warm. when people hear "Global Warming" they think that it just means the world gets hotter. El Nino/La Nina events speed up with climate change (and yes, increased atmospheric c02), making a whole mess of things, not just giving us a little extra heat

There are much better ways to manage Australia's environment. More tree plantations for example (which will actually create jobs rather than destroy them).

@elevander are you serious? Most tree plantations create more carbon than they consume, not to mention the excessive amount of water they consume from the water table. Seriously, rethink your opinion of this issue. It is NOT A GOOD IDEA.
The positive effect this will have on the environment is nothing compared to the negative effect it will have on the environment.
GrimDarkly 5 months ago
@GrimDarkly Economics really? How about the microeconomics of this, consumers will buy more less carbon-intensive products as the rest will have higher prices or the invisible hand that self corrects the market serve our own interests. The main idea of the carbon tax is to transition Australian businesses and households to become more efficient. In a survey of the 145 economists from the Economic Society of Australia, 60% agreed to the policy, 25% against and the remaining 15% had no opinion.
Martin8120 5 months ago
@GrimDarkly Also, from the same survey, 85% of the economists also rejected the coalitions plan, direct action as it was not a sound economic policy that would work. How dare you say that someone must not understand the basics of economics if someone was to support the carbon tax, who the hell are you to say that anyways?

wasdom01 5 months ago
@wasdom01 I can't recall if I have read that one. There's so many & they go out of date so quickly it is hard to keep up. 1 thing they never say is that Australia imposing a carbon tax to reduce emissions by 160M tonnes by 2020 will reduce the Globe's temperature. Not even in their questionable data models. The closest I've found is that if Australia completely stopped emissions 100% = no difference at all. I guess you may have not seen that if you confine your reading to partisan papers.
ellicattube 5 months ago
@ellicattube That's better. Look, it's actually pretty clear that you are interested in this subject and that you can - at least - use Google to search for things. I did think it was funny that you didn't include Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard in your list of Sydney Institute speakers that you sent me a while ago though.
The science was settled 16 years ago, and if you deny it, same as denying tobacco as unhealthy.
mayuhavepeace 5 months ago
@mayuhavepeace You are joking right? I would guess that you mix with like minded morons to have that sort of response to an irrelevant question. The science is far from settled as it is with most "theories", and in the last 5 years thousands of climate scientists have stated it to be false and most of their theories ARE peer reviewed and agreed upon.. There is no proof of AGW that is irrefutable and wont ever be as its all a con. Try adding water vapor to modeling programs to see it all fail.
Adirtybird 5 months ago
The ipcc software makes little or no correlation between cloud cover or water vapor saturation within their models, therefore they get the so called "proof" the man is to blame with his carbon output, but add cloud and water vapor to the models and the card house falls apart. With an planet that naturally produces 97% of the carbon we have, dont you think it strange that just 3% that we contribute can be to blame?? I cant and wont ever be to blame. Fool.
Adirtybird 5 months ago
@Adirtybird
You are the kind of person that actually makes me even more certain.
When one side usually uses invectives like yours, it just MEANS THEY ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE.
None of the stuff is properly peer-reviewed. I know a "con" when I look at the writings of S. Fred Singer.
I suppose anybody that disagrees with you is a fool ???
Sorry, in that case you are not worth my time. Ciao.
mayuhavepeace 5 months ago
@mayuhavepeace Point to where i used the word "yours".. How left wing of you, you have no proof of AGW so you revert to play ground insults upon grammar and spelling..
And never have I stood in agreement with F singer.
So try again Fool, to show me proof that man kind is to blame, and not some ipcc modelling rubbish.
Adirtybird 5 months ago
@Adirtybird
Why do you call me "left wing" ?
To me it has got nothing to do with being Left or Right, in fact this is what is WRONG with this, shouldn't even enter into the discussion.
Personally, I am probably VERY conservative. In fact, if you asked me about gay marriage, abortion and stuff like THAT, you would definitely think I am a CONSERVATIVE. Maybe I am, just don't want to be labelled. in fact NOBODY has the right to do that IMO.
You call me fool? How would you know? Have we met?
mayuhavepeace 5 months ago
@Adirtybird
"how me proof that man kind is to blame"
Only if you have an open mind, or I would be wasting my effort.
And yes, I think the science got it right. I have that kind of a background. Got friends at the ANU, yes they are scientists and thoroughly decent human beings and they insult nobody. I started to ask questions and I got answers that helped me to make up my mind.
I invite others to actually EXAMINE before making a final decision.
In my case I took a LONG time to get there.
mayuhavepeace 5 months ago
@Adirtybird
Sorry about your CSIRO mates, but cannot comment.
Hence the conclusion was "discernible" influence.
mayuhavepeace 5 months ago
@Adirtybird You need to be left winged to have proper grammar/spelling? It's like everything bad you name left winged. Oh the TV reception is down? That's so left winged. I need a better computer? That's so left winged. I need to get a prostate exam? That's so left winged.
DMAN123223 5 months ago
@curiouscookie
Hypocrits.
mayuhavepeace 5 months ago
@curiouscookie

I think it's great. But it's a little bit too clever to make the right impact.

@webtopia perhaps it could be combined with a more standard ad to promote the carbon tax, and this one could be the light relief one. I think it's pretty good and it will get people talking.

Love it! I am sick of the Industry ads on TV here in Australia spruiking lies about the carbon tax. Just get on with it.

Well the evidence from Spain, Italy and the UK shows that Green jobs end up costing 2.2 jobs for every new one they 'create'.

@RupertAndCheese You mean the massive dead weight loss created by the tax is going to have no effect on the economy?
Aveliany 5 months ago
@Aveliany That didn't even make any sense, what the fuck is a "massive dead weight", and how is it being lost?
RupertAndCheese 5 months ago
@RupertAndCheese Dead weight loss is the loss of efficiency that comes from all taxes. It is lost when a tax shrinks both the producer and consumer surplus of a product, part of each surplus goes to the government as tax revenue but the reminder becomes a dead weight loss to the economy.
Aveliany 5 months ago
@Aveliany Oh, ok, now I understand.

I hope they actually run this on TV
