  • He's playing top part! :D

  • Woah he's playing with the fast tonging lady!

  • I'm seeing scholarships and a professional musicianship in his future. :)

  • hes better than alot of the 8th grade clarenetists in my band class i play the flute but still

  • Whoa. This kids good. Ive played clarinet for 5 years now. Not bad at all for a six year old. AT ALL

  • bravo...great future!!

  • I play Clarinet so I can say that was freakin awsome!!! I have been playin for 1 semester and I just learned my highest note:D ur a talented kid

  • I play Clarinet so I can say that was freakin awsome!!!

  • im so jealous of this boy.....but keep it up! so cute!!

  • so cute. <3

  • The adult seems to have the urge, having the partiture shown on his level. Give the boy a break and please dont laugh at him. Why making fun of the boy?

  • i think that louis is on the 2nd part im not quiet sure though

  • Man to the Parents of that little Boy: Be Proud of your Guy he is talentet!! I play the Clarinett since 9-10 years and i Know that its hard but in his age its much harder. He is talentet thats for shure! But a little word to you dear Momy and Dady: Pleas watch that your Son loves his clarinett because i will help him and it makes his Way a lot easyer .

Greetings from Germany (thats the reason for my bad english)

PS: BE PROUD OF YOUR LITTLE SUNSHINE HE HAS TALENT

  • You go kid! I learned the register very quickly too!

  • wow, he is amazing for his age, i couldnt do this til i was in 5th grade, but dang, at six years old?? he is gonna be an amazing player in high school/ college

  • B44 is a very good mouth-peice,

I use it myself, and its very good for vibrato

  • I usually play standing up it makes a much clearer sound

  • great teaching!...

  • im actually a trombone player i got a clarinet yesterday im actually fairly decent its a very hard switch from a mouthpiece to a reed!

  • oh, that reminds me of my first clarinet hours with 7 years, bravo...

  • yes i can tell

  • Well done. I like it. Greetings from The Netherlands

  • for anyone he is awesome. i remember sitting through some shocking school recitals in my time. This kid i would have loved to have been there to show em all up

  • For a six year old, you have great pitch and tone! Keep it up!

  • Very good , the young clarinet player is very nice

  • childs play we played overture for winds in fmcmea bandand we sonded good but he still plays good

  • he is WAYY better than me

  • i cant even play that good

  • wow for a six year old he plays well :) i think its amazing that kids young as this want to play music :D

  • the kids playing the lower part while the teachers playing the higher part i think

  • How he stops and says where to start again because he missed it is amazing. Most kids would NOT do that because they simply aren't good enough.

  • your kid is amazing!!! His teacher seems insanely young

  • Great job Michelle and Louis.

Eric told me about your young phenom last night.

Congratulations and hope you are well.

    Full-sized clarinet-wow!

    Arturo in Durham

  • amazing. i want to teach my children too!!

  • this foo is gonna be hella good when he gets to like middle school and imagine high school. good job man keep it up

  • hee iss gifted. totally

  • our band started in the 5th grade =)

  • well he beats me XD

  • awsome guys

  • You're fantastic! Better than many of the kids at my middle school. And hes only 6. Keep up the good work!

  • Amazing how when they stop in the middle Louis quickly points to where they should start. He is gifted. Hopefully the most important gift he has is desire.

  • wow im sorry for the people who suck so bad that they say that a 6 year old can school them...thats sad that a 6 year old beats you all(go ahead and put the thumbs down sign

  • true, if they practiced they would be better than a 6 year old. I am a freshman in college and say I am easily 100 times better than him. Perfect practice techniques consistantly makes perfect.

  • Well, surely the teacher is playing 1st part because Louis keeps stopping and telling the teacher where to start up again. But he is very good for such a young kid! I wish I would've learned clarinet before middle school.........♫

  • Im guessing that he is playing the bottem part? looking at his fingering, it looks like the bottem, but I wouldnt know. GREAT FOR ONLY BEING SIX!

  • Our clarinets need him to tutor them.

  • One I did not even know that children started clarinet before the age of 8 which is interesting to me. Two you are doing very well and I have watched a few of your videos. You have improved a lot from the first videos. Good job and I hope that you continue with clarinet!

  • U shuldn't play the clarinet until your milk teeth develop. It could harm the bone structure. And that's a fact

  • Yeah that is what I was thinking, Thats why they start you off in middle school.

  • is his music teacher playing an E flat clarinet?? just wondering

  • he's playing the upper part, the teacher is playing the lower. Tuning methinks. But otherwise good! Don't think it'd pass ABRSM grade 3 though!

  • Nice job... If you're having trouble with rhythms in a piece you're learning (I'm sure your teacher has you doing this anyways, but if not...) put down your clarinet and clap the rhythms of the sections you are struggling with... This will help you learn the rhythms without worrying about playing the correct notes... Try it, and video tape yourself clapping the rhythms. You are AWESOME!!!

  • holy...fricken...god....he plays better than me!!! lmfao!

im envious of a 6 year old! but keep up the tremendous work!

  • lol this kid is sick better then is teacher!!!!!

  • omg. he is playing better than me.i better buck up

  • Wow, I am amazed...

Hmmm wish my sisters would be into the clarinet like him..Or knew how to play, because I could play with her! xD

  • awesome!!!

  • very good~!

  • wow , big boy..!

  • watch out for this kid..the next big thing..

  • wow is he already playing notes with the register keys?

    well great job anyways kid.

  • his tone has much improved from since he started...

    he's making much progress

    keep playing

you have a long career ;)

  • omg!! he is better than people in my school band!!

  • Man he is awsome at that for his age im 14 about to be 15 and i am playing hard stuff and he was playing stuff that i learned in 7th grade (i have been playing since the 5th grade) now

  • I dont see what the big deal is. Sure he will be better than anyone at his schools, but he'll just grow up to be yet another proffessional clarinet player. big whoop

  • Dude. he's six.

  • jeez, he must have been tortured and locked away in his room with that thing at the age of 2, like japanese kids and piano

  • its not just the japanese kids

  • hello, i'm also a clarinet player, and i'm stonish. i hope that he becames a great player, and enjoy to play the clarinet

  • already "crossing the break":)

    such a talented kid.

he'll blow everyone away in middle school

  • im in 7th grade 2nd chair and he is better than i am

  • im in 7th grade 2nd chair and he is better than i am

  • Wow this kid is good. Are those glisses supposed to be their?

  • frekishly good and super cool

  • hes gonna beat me in a few weeks...

  • I'm 13 and rubbish at the upper register:( Been playing 4 years aswell...

  • Hes good.

  • he plays better than i played last year

  • He must be really smart at age 6 because, I know since I play clarinet, even for some 8th graders it is hard!!

  • yeah the last 2 chairs in our clarinet section can't get out a note higher then a C over the break! im in 8th grade and 1st chair i bet he could beat me easily!

  • freaky. i can play up to 3rd octave C but that's about it

  • He's on an Eb clarinet, therefore some the pitches you hear as "over the break" are actually in the clarino register (under the break). However, he'll kick your a** in a few years. And will definitely be better than me by my age...

  • OMG

  • I should show this video to the idiots in my band that don't try or even practice! Phenomenal! OMG KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow.....thats what i call talent! he should meet david shifrin!

  • David Shifrin is a cool cat. Saw him play the copland down at Yale last year with the NHSO. He should definitely be fed recordings of the greats such as shifrin, Ricardo Morales, Martin Frost, Charles Neidich, Richard Stoltzman, etc...simply listening and being immersed in such great player's interpretations would be absolutely detrimental to becoming an outstanding musician and building upon this already wonderful start :)

  • yea when mr. shifrin came to hawaii i got to do a master class with him when i was in 8th grade. i am now a senior in high school.

your student is amazing however. "] i hope he is having fun. goodluck in the future

  • That kid is going to become a great musician. Keep encouraging him! Also, make him play jazz ^^

  • He's using the register key at six years old?

My God. All the clarinets in the 6th grade band I'm in can barely play C above the break. I don't play the clarinet, but still I think it's kind of depressing that twelve year olds can't play better than a six year old with a growing talent.

I think this video is awesome. Louis will definitely be famous if he keeps up his inspiration.

  • You bet, Louis is using the register key. He also uses the `curved left index finger` position to make the `break` smoother. See `Secrets` nos. 18 and 19 in my book `Clarinet Secrets`. ;-)

  • Playing with the register key already? I can hardly play with that key much less fluently.

  • Wow! He`s so concentrated when he plays! He`s a great talent!

  • If he's playing a D or E-flat clarinet now, which took me 4 months to get used to as a 16 year old, imagine this kid in 10 years.

  • Cool! You get better each video! BRAVO!

  • amazing!=].

    you improved alot. AWESOME JOB!:D

  • Would you mind telling what his set-up is? I can't tell if he is playing a C or E flat. Sounds great!

  • Lou plays on a Vandoren B44 Eb clarinet mouthpiece with Rico, Vandoren or Légère reeds. Strengths vary from 2 to 2.5. He plays a Buffet Crampon Eb professional clarinet.

  • Vandoren reeds and Buffet Clarinets are wonderful to use! They play very well. I also use vandoren reeds and play on a buffet clarinet...although I play Bb clarinet

    :]

  • i agree. :)

i use vandorens on an R13 buffet with a b40 mouthpiece.

this kid is freaking awesome! :D

  • woow.

    nice.

    r13s are great.

  • Me too.....Vandoren and Buffet all the way. My general rule for students is, anything goes for the first year of study, but then after that, Vandoren reeds only.

  • I use Vandoren a M30 Mouthpiece and im getting a R13 this week!!! i use a E11 right now. Buffet plus vandoren all the way!

  • r13 buffet + vandoren reeds + jd hyte mouthpiece + luyben ligature = WOOT

  • best ever, and snap!!

    :D
