yeah I was just in my office around the corner and could hear him but he wouldn't talk that much if he saw me! We have a new addition (video soon I hope) named Peanut and he's got a lower voice too. It may have to do with what they hear as babies? Mango was raised on Disney Channel...
My Quaker Walter loves watching this video! He is watching right now, head tilting all over the place. They are so funny! The other day I gave Walter a treat and I said, "What do you say?" He said, "I love you!" LOL
It helps them talk when there is music or the tv on in my room too. If I leave the room and there is no other noise, they won't talk much at all. Sqwak yea, but nothing else but hollar or scream to the amazon in the other room. Your bird says quite a bit. I heard 'wants some water', good boy, and at least 3 other sentences! WTG! Ours does a lot of singing and babytalk. He imitates laughs the most. it's cute.
My quaker does the same exactly thing- he talks only for attention by saying his name REPEATEDLY (especially when he thinks no one is around). Quakers are wonderful parrots.
yeah, just yesterday we got a 10 minute monologue on "MAAAANGO. Mango? Oh Mango. Mango's smart. Mango's a good bird......" and on and on all about how worthy he was
His foster mom gave it to me. I don't know where she got it, but if you check with any local breeder in your area they usually can get them cheaper (though by no means cheap!)
this little bird has made many a beverage shoot out of my nostrils. He just comes out with stuff out of nowhere! Like, the other night, he's not even saying anything and all of a sudden from across the room he looks right at me and says "You're spoiled!" WTH?!? lol
he's about 4 now, and been here in Orlando all his life. It's crazy how so many Quakers say the same things! We're on an all-Quaker forum and the videos there have birds all over the place saying "Com'ere" in the exact same tone. I think there's a genetic predisposition in them to learn certain phrases.
i have FINALLY figured out what a few more of these phrases are! There's "do/did you miss your mommy?" "you're so spoiled" and "want some out/outside?" and of course 5 minutes of "what is it?" which he still does every single day!
Those birds are sooo cute, remind me of hooty, once I get my digi cam with sound I will be posting some vids of him, there so neat, and smart too, thanx for the upload!!!
