I will be getting an iPad. I have my Sony Vaio and Toshiba Qosmio laptops for my extensive application needs. What I'm looking for is a portable device for the light weight side of things such as browsing, movies, music and has a very nice interface that will keep me away from being bored. Too bad all of the iPad competitors have boring interfaces...its just like having to experience normal pc all over again, and I really don't need a small version of my laptops if it cannot perform like it.

@chaoshaxor not really, windows 7 is nice, and i have my high end games installed there, (Street Fighter IV, Mass Effect 2, Assassins Creed 2, Dragon Age Origin/Awakening, Crisis, Batman, Borderlands, Guild Wars) but my laptop is big and heavy and its more like of a desktop replacement. What I want is something that I can use when I wake up no need to go to the table to surf, email, chat etc. especially on 'lazy' days. I like Win7, but the tablet version just doesn't seem right.

The iPad seems like nothing more than an enhanced iPod Touch that has a larger screen. I don't think that it fits into any market properly, and although I'm not sure how it's going to sell, I doubt it'll be a big seller. It is limited and "locked" out like an iPhone/iPod Touch, doesn't match the accessibility and versatility of a laptop, while being large enough to make it not viable as a mobile device.

I wil not get it, for a couple of reasons;

The Ipad isn't very easy to handle. You can type on it, but that would be on a virtual keyboard wich strains your fingers after a while. It cannot replace the EEE netbooks from Asus. They are only 300 dollars and are easy to handle and have an original keyboard.

Too early to say but the iPad is in the lead.

The iPad is the only tablet I've seen do powerpoint, word processing, spreadsheets, email, eBook reader, web browsing, movies, music, and game play. The biggest drawback IMO is the lack of flash, but still there are more pros than cons.

Only thing I've seen a slate PC running Windows 7 do is an eBook reader and play a video.

I haven't seen an Android one do the productivity apps (spreadsheets, etc).
