Just curious... is that grey unit with the orange glowing screen, directly behind the neck in the demonstration part of this clip... is that a Roland VS880?
ive seen Eddie use that same 4 finger pattern in some magazine from like the 80s. Guess its a legit pattern afterall lol im just now as of today starting to ATTEMP this pattern. seems like it will utilize the notes better as opposed to having to go to the next string for the note. Just use it since its there already where the pinky is,may as well use it.
Thanks for your comment : ) There are a lot of "unknown" guys out there that are fantastic players. Some that come to mind are Tom Quayle, Alex Hutchings, Rick Graham, Martin Miller, Andy Wood, Nick Kellie, Floyd Fernandez, Daniele Gottardo, Scott Jones, Ignazio DiSalvo, Marco DeCave... and many more. Do yourself a favor and check out these guys too!
Dont ever let anyone tell you something that inspires you is out of your league. You dont have to start with such wide interval patterns.Start with something a little smaller, use a metronome(very important) Start slow and focus on technique, speed will come on its own.But dont ever let anyone tell you you cant play something because with the right approach nothing is out of your league thats a fact.
@mallamoozoo For great examples of some of the best jazz-rock fusion, check out Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever (and Chick Corea's other bands), Weather Report, Hiromi, and Allan Holdsworth, for a start. If you want rock-jazz fusion (more rock than jazz), try Shawn Lane, Guthrie Govan, Greg Howe, Jerry Goodman, and Jeff Beck. If you want to see where fusion came from, check out Miles Davis' 60's recordings such as "Bitches' brew", "A Tribute to Jack Johnson", and "Live Evil".
That's nuts. I think I may invest in your DVDs after watching a few more demonstrations, that's some really nice wide-interval playing. I imagine it goes without saying that you borrow some harmonic thought from Allan Holdsworth?
i know Melodic minor concept like subing Lydian b7 on the V chord . i know melodic minor all over the neck , but ican really only play in one key . where should i begin with your instructionals , the Method book , or the DVD.
I recommend starting with my DVDs. From the doing webcam lessons. I also recommend practcing the melodic minors in cylces of minor thirds. Here's why: If you were playing over a 2 / 5 in C you could use D melodic minor, F melodic minor, Ab melodic minor, and B melodic minor to go out. But really there is more to it than that.
of course it is cool but it´s always the some...and later it´s boring for me...sorry man, but thats not a lesson which explains me something...it´s only a video showing me how fast and how crazy you are able to play on a guitar.
This Video is not bad, but it should teach something...
@derrylgabel This doesn't really solve ywickum's problem though Derryl. He isn't satisfied to be provided with free videos of your playing for inspiration, and the chance to buy lessons on how to do what you're demonstrating-he wants the lessons for free too, and if it was possible, he'd want you to practice for him too.
What a great alternative to the linear approach of traditional sweep picking. I know it's not directly intended as such but I've been looking for a way out of the articulation nightmare and box traps that sweep picking illicits. I'm trying to develop some outside concepts to extreme metal soloing. Eddie Head from haji's Kitchen used to come out of a traditional sounding line into an outside phrase that would just change the dynamics...It was awesome for those who could appreciate it.
he just means the amount of notes per string. i think marshall harrison uses it a lot. its like play one note then three on the adjacent string and so on,
Basically 313313 referes to the fingering pattern. But to get it to work you need to know how to break all of your chords down into arpeggios.
Then apply the fingering to the arpeggios that you've learned. Also, don't just stop at learning 1-3-5-7 arpeggios! You need to learn all of your harmonic extensions (9th, 11ths, and 13ths) as well. Then develop fingerings over them.
I bought this guitar (Ibanez USA Custom Exotic Wood Series) back in '91. and got the neck from another that I bought in '93. I recently sold this guitar.
Marshall has one video of him playing my guitar up on youtube. He's playing over the backing Owner Of A Lonely Heart. I filmed this when he came over a few years ago.
So, what in the world is the 313313 concept?

yes. I recently sold it.

Is this what you call jazz fusion? ive only been playing 5 years and still struggling even with rock (Guns n Roses type stuff).
I like the sound of this but been told its way outta my league at this stage.
