  • When a song reaches perfection....

  • Paris Hilton disliked 16 times LOL.

  • @matseman46 why paris hilton?

  • I hope Tom to back to Poland some day..

  • This is better than the studio version; you really get his later raw edge here.

  • I ended up here because of Black Books.

  • Outstanding!

  • listen this version:Jockey full of bourbon by acoustic lounge,,very good...

  • Kurde, jedyny raz gdy Waits był w Polsce. Miałem wtedy 7 lat i nijak nie znałem jego muzyki. Dałbym wszystko żeby na jego koncercie się znaleźć...

  • I love this man, and I love this song. I would so love to see this live!

  • A Tom Waits inspired, the best performance for this song.

  • GENIUS!!!!!!!

  • Die geilste Stimme ever!!!

  • Thanks, SarahV.

  • Anyone know who's playing lead guitar on this? I know it's Marc Ribot on the recording, but this man looks different though he does a great job.

  • @locandro1 Smokey Hormel was doing guitar on this tour.

  • reminds me of the scrape-man from MIB 1

  • Good performance don't get me wrong, but the chorus is better done on the recorded version. Everything else top notch, as always with tommy boy here.

  • This is my favorite performance EVER of this song. His voice is perfect here.

  • one of my biggest wishes is to see this wonderful genious man singing live somewhere.

  • Mr. Mr. i do love you!

  • TOM WAITS IS SUCH A BADASS

  • During this period I don't think anyone could come close to delivering what TW delivered in a live performance. Inspired.

  • very nice !...but no smoke?...ですね.

  • People ! it wasn't Marc Ribbot but Smokey Hormel !!!! I was there. I saw this glorious gig!

  • Yeah It must be Mr. Ribot on guitar.

  • Cudny Tomasz! ;)

  • O Adam Sessler and your eccentric taste in music...

  • I am curious why do you mention Adam Sessler?

  • lmao. I only know the Joe Bonamassa cover. Totally different song than this. Does the guy always sing like this? Crazy voodoo vibe.

  • @dickkwikkwek Nah, not always. But his vocals are very rough - check out "Hoist that rag", a pretty piratesque song :D

But he has been making music for 40 years now; and he is impossible to catagorize.

  • Is that Mark Ribot on guitar?

  • @beelzabubba

    Yes. Marc Ribot.

  • Awesome!

Gotta get me along to see 'em again!

  • Fuck Yeah!!!!! I won't even bother...everything he does reduces me to a shimmering idiot!

  • I'll never understand how such a hellish sound comes out of such a small man. I mean that as a compliment.

  • The Ominous Mr Waits Always Initiates Total Superstardom, the guy is a GENIUS long live and his music be live for all the WORLD to appreciate, 3 CHEERS FOR TOM

  • Simply amazing...if Charles Bukowski ever had a musical counterpart...it is Tom.

  • I was at this concert., The one and only TW concert I saw so far, after 25 years of worshiping. I regret I bought the most expensive ticket. I was too far. I actually wanted very much TO SEE him. I nearly burst out crying several times that I can finally see him on concert. More than a simple artist. An immense influence on my life.

  • No man is cooler or more MAN than Tom Waits. I want to name my first son after him. And my first daughter.

  • waits...is....GOD

  • Joobaba you summed it up there mate, the only people who appreciate Tom Waits are people who appreciate music.

  • 42 years and I've never seen his equal. If you understand music, you worship this guy.

  • I'll agree that there really is no equal to his style.

But Nick Cave just might be his student.

  • Well Nick Cave gives me more feeling than the inimitable Tom Waits.

But they're both great, I think they can't be compared and I think Nick Cave can't be the student of Tom Waits. He's got his own style and personality

  • Agree, they can't be compared. There are also some fundamental differences between them. Waits covered very few songs of other artists while Cave exploited very successfully that option. Another remark is that Waits went through real life experiences that sculpted his character and are still, to this day, the real source of his music. In other words, he sings the life that he lived and doesn't "speculate". His music is honest life experience, not philosophy. He just adds a touch of poetry to it.

  • Yeah, I'd sell a kidney to hear them make music together

  • even if you don't

  • @joobaba if you understand life as well

  • fantastic performance

  • Tom is the dogs bollix

  • The guitar solo dance is the most AWSOME part!

  • GENIUS!

  • Tom Waits is a true American treasure. To think otherwise is madness.

  • @xEndangeredSpeciesx He is not an American Treasure , he is a World Treasure, He is the best! He is what you can call Remarkable!

  • There's no cooler guy than Tom Waits. There simply isn't. :D

  • I agree! It's impossible to be any cooler then this. No man will ever be.

  • Oh yes, you are right!!!!!

  • hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa amazing!!

  • cheers

  • Waits,Cohen,and Cave..my untouchable trio!

  • who's cohen?

and by cave you mean nick cave right?

i like his stuff from the birthday party better

  • I think he means Leonard Cohen?

  • the unholy trinity

  • Love this song!

  • this is one of my favioute clips, im only 26 but i absoultly love tom waits music ! rock on!:)

  • Kingdom and a horse, for a voice like this... :)

  • Excellent!

  • Hey Little Bird, Fly Away Home, Cuz Your House Is On Fire.

    Tom Waits Is A Genious

  • understand to me.... coming from the metal sound, the voice of tom waits remembers to me a death metal singer!!!

its a joke, for me is funny, dont murder me

  • most death metal vocalists wish they could growl like this.

  • Loud through my headphones, a little bit of bourbon, no ice thank you, This makes my lazy hazy sunday begins like a sparking day oh boy, I just love this guy

    thanks for posting 5*****

  • that's like death metal...lol

  • Geez Tom Waits is really awesome

  • FUUUUUCKKK! HES SO DARN COOL!!!

  • Yep, with those great moves you can tell he's been hanging with the " chicken man" again...

alright then! Time for me to learn the Tango

  • Ah, good way to start the day is a jockey full of bourban, Rain dogs is amazin! Love this guy...

  • you all get a thumbs up

  • hey little bird fly away home...

  • blues death metal?

  • il più grande licantropo di tutti i tempI:D

  • i dont understand a thing but his dance solo is THE BEST!!! love the song too

  • he is one of the most outlandishly artistic musicians ever.

and this is one of my favorite songs by him.

    :)

    what a great guy.

  • This is best - viewed. What a genius.

  • I can't stop listening

  • This song always makes me think of the theme from Black Books...

  • class!

  • you know, with the way his voice is now, Tom could go BRUTAL if he wanted ;)

  • Sounding especially husky and glorious here. Beautiful

  • the best dancer ever...

  • Absolutely super. I cannot sit still on my stool when I see that solo dance. God, it so catchy. Love this guy.

  • Genius in action. Take notes.

  • This guy is simply unique. Great little dance he does there.

  • One of the worlds best artists. I also love his performance in this video.

  • Man, om is up there with henry rollins and kurt cobain in my biggest influences

  • to jest tak świetne, że aż nie wierzę

  • i fuckin missed the show he played in dublin somethin like a week ago. its a pity cuz i really love his music. does any1 know if it was any good? well, ofcourse it was but if ya been on it cud ya give me a review?

  • Great TW performance!Love Tom in this!!!!! Has anybody heard of this new singer/songwriter Shawn Mafia? He's a lot like Tom lyrically ... no joke.

  • this is too cool

  • this man puts death metal vocalists to shame.

  • Lol, I love his dance during the solo!

  • epic!

  • Coolest man on earth!

  • @Horrorshow1234 Hell yes, so much done by doing so little!

    The man is just GENIUS!

  • the best

  • Love this song!!! Tom ´s God!

  • MAESTRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GOD

  • THIS IS BEST VIEWED AS LOUD AS HELL!! I'M REALLY FEELING IT NOW...MAN... Thanks for posting this!!!

  • and a lil bit a liqour ;)

  • Jim Beam for me please.

  • EVERYTHING by Tom should be played loudly! :)

  • His voice is so....overwhelming. I'd love to hear him yelling at cops, blowing them backwards.

  • the way he dances is sooo awesome!

  • great musician!!!!

  • your my hero tom !!! i have a friend in you ;)

  • "You've got a Friend in Me" was by Randy Newman, not Tom Waits. That probably has everything to do with why your comment has a -2 at the time of this writing.

  • He could be a Pogue!

  • absolutnie genialne wykonanie

  • I know of no known beat(era)poet-singers born w/every instrument ever made (& not invented yet)in his soul like Tom Waits. I love to watch him perform, thank u for this treasure!

  • Incredible! I swear we will never see a showman like him ever again in our lifetime.

  • Absolutely fantastic!

  • tom....the best !!!!

  • got a wo dollar pistol but the gun won't shoot.

  • The MASTER!

  • I was talking 2 a guy the other day about songwriters! he kept quoting names like james blunt and david gray! Then I asked the million dollar question! Have u heard of tom waits? ( 2 wierd for me he said). Chordially yours jbbutterfield

  • I cannot decide who my favorite musician is: Tom Waits or Nick Cave. They are both so DAMN GOOD! I would give anything if they would tour together. I would travel to another country to see that. Anyone else have the same problem?

  • I cannot agree with you more. I would kill to have them do a duet together...it would be a dream come true. I must say...I think I slightly prefer Nick

  • Tom waits, nick cave, van morrison, jeff buckley...

  • I love the both of them.

That would be an incredible tour.

  • Haha, oddly enough I posted pretty much exactly the same comment to a different Tom Waits video.

Although, for me, it's gotta be Nick Cave. The ethos of the two is an interesting battle, but as far as songwriting goes, I personally reckon Nick Cave is ahead...tough one though.

  • Seriously guys, why can't we just like both!? There's a novel idea!

That being said, I'm actually on my way out the door to pick up the new Bad Seeds album. Waits is still the man, though.

  • Dont agree, but you are entitled to your opninion. For me, Tom Waits beats Nick Cave by a 100 miles

  • Waits beats the tar out of Cave a million times over. That's my opinion.

  • i concur. i dont think any one could stand up to tom waits songwriting

  • And exactly WTF is wrong with Nick Cave?

  • He beats the tar out of pretty much every musician ever, I wouldn't single out Nick Cave as he's one of the closest behind him.

  • me too my dad used to listen to him and i laughed at him, boy do i feel like a moron now :)

  • never heard of him O.o

  • you still got time to learn TomWaits is one of the best Ever

  • Tom Waits is the best!!

  • except maybe bob dylan. his voice gets progressively scruffier and muddier, and now he sounds good.

  • in warsaw fuckin pricks we didn't talk vulgar

  • in Poland we kill peoble for less than talk vulgar about artist

  • Oh, so that must be the reason for Poland's success

  • He minimalistic TW. The mean guitars and dusty platform he is singing on. Very 'sutt joot'.

  • Does anyone know who plays the guitar in this live band of Tom? He makes this Ribot-type of playing on this tune but he's definitively someone else. Thank's for the answer!

  • all i know is hes the guy who plays with amos lee now

  • KURVAJÓÓÓÓ!!!

  • noo wayyy,,with out doubt its gin,,just got to be alive to it,,plugged in and switched on ,,after 2 bottles of gin its time for the coffee and cigars, ahhh time i think 2 put blue valentine/small change on,,bliss,

  • damn he must smoke a LOT

  • an authentic artist and so unique

  • must admit, took me awhile to get used to the gin soaked voice,,hated rain dogs first time i heard it,,but it is such a great album,,his early stuff is still the best,,blue valentine cracking album,,

  • Dont forget, its a whiskey soaked voice...

  • Yeah, what exactly would a gin-soaked voice sound like?

  • Same thing happened to me...

  • Ultra Guttural Brutal Vocal + Blues = Tom Waits

    Cool...

  • ich bin ganz sprachlos, es ist ein genie!

  • Und die Europaeer wissen ihn zu schaetzen. Die meisten Amerikaner aber nicht. Leider!

  • allerdings!! Americas bester Songwriter der letzten 35 Jahre!

  • Und Schauspieler

  • His live performances are better than the pre-recorded stuff in my opinion, especially when you can see him, it's part of the music.

  • It depends on the song.

  • I'm on the same opinion

  • His live version of "Ruby's Arms" on Big Time is incredible. The studio version is a little bland and lackluster.

  • The one advantage to excessive smoking and drinking is a voice like a demon

  • And the eat coast for a new fan :<

  • I stand back in awe & amazement! But why doesn't he tip that pork-pie hat forward a bit and then launch into a ska dance? Now, that would be cool!

  • he is unique ...

    the best

  • Tom is a musical genius that is unlike any other. Keeping my fingers crossed for another tour! (I saw him in Memphis last summer and it was fuckin' awesome.)

  • We will never know. Tom Waits NEVER tours anywhere but somewhere else but the midwest.

  • A truly visual comic musical genius. Benn a fan for decades. He sounds like if 'Jim' of 'TAXI' were to front a band! lol

  • Been a HUGE Tom Waits fan for decades...You know...the man is a comic genius. AND a very visual on at that. I GOTTA' say though...

He sounds (especially here) like if 'Jim' off the old TV show 'TAXI' were to front a band! LOL!

  • what happened to his voice? he became a brutal vocal? listen the original record and this, youll understand what i mean
