  • He talked about synchronized breathing with the interviewer during sex.... that's funny to everyone. How do people not get it? Physical Layer of OSI model; funny networking joke. Get educated people.

  • lol....they laugh...but little do they know that this stuff WORKS....especially the matching/mirroring stuff....very subconscious....

  • I really don't understand why they're laughing.

  • @bws12r Because it's funny haha. The OSI model part was a networking joke. Look up some of the stuff he said and maybe you'll get it.

  • This is very useful

  • Go VJ!!!

  • @benshelly they are laughing at Europe's economy

  • @johny260 and they'd cry if they thought of their own.

  • In think this talk would work only for mediocre services companies. It would be extremely difficult to apply these techniques in the interviews where u have to solve puzzles or write production quality code using algorithms with lowest time/space complexity.

  • I can tell for a fact that what VJ is mentioning can help in many interviews.

Regardless of how good or bad you think you are, you need to be relaxed, listen carefully to questions and address them.

However, these NLP techniques won't help you when technical questions drop and/or if you're interviewed by geek with a bit more social skills.

    A fun talk nevertheless. :-)

  • I'm not sure any of you know what event he was speaking at. Local Seattleites volunteered to give 5 minute presentations on anything, and he was one of them. It was super-casual and fun. That's why people are laughing... because he making jokes at a casual event.

  • Why are these people loughing??

  • He tells us he got an offer for all of the 20 interviews he was at.

A lot of these nlp/self-help/guru people are con-artists. I don't believe anything they say if they're unwilling or unable to provide concrete evidence.

  • oh god.. "jedi technique".. I feel sick

  • Nerds are smart...But they laugh at the stupidest things.

  • Shut it nerd.

  • I agree man. I like the most random things

  • NLP is fun and can, I think, work, but there's a danger that it can become dogmatic rote behaviour, rather than a fluid set of guidelines. I've read about people following an interviewer's every move, and just freaking the guy out, for instance.

I think mostly its stuff to take on board and adapt to the people and situations you meet, rather than actually doing, word for word, the stuff reccomended in the video.

  • not a joke. its nlp and bodylanguage

  • they're laughing because he's funny. in order to properly sync, you'll have to have a sense of humor, too.

  • I don't think they are laughing at him. Maybe the slides. Don't know if alcohol is involved there too. Anyway, these techniques do work. It's legit. Psych 101 stuff.

  • Why the hell are they laughing at him when he's just trying to help? So damn disrespectful of them.

  • They're not laughing *at* him, they're laughing at his illustrations and jokes.

(Perhaps you just didn't get the jokes?)

Like the "Think of it like the physical layer of the OSI 7 layer model" line...

if you're not a networking and protocol stack geek you won't get that, but I found it funny as heck!

  • It's not a joke. He just wanted to make the presentation funny as well as enlightening.

  • Sounds legit to me.

  • Is this a joke?
