I would like somone from the media to contact me to explain how a person who is addicted to Benzodiazepens and all the medical facilities in Michigan such as Brighton Hospital, UofM, St. Joseph Mercy, Beaumont treat the addictions - one hospital recommends one year of Phenobarbital as treatment - this is at St. Joseph's Mercy in Ann Arbor - one of the best.. No one knows how to treat addiction in Michigan. Point of Return in California was the biggest help and the only way is tapering.
If you're in Benzo withdrawal or struggling with benzos (Klonopin, Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Z drugs like Ambien, etc.) join us on the *Benzodiazepine (Benzo) Withdrawal Support Group* on Facebook.
I've been fuckin' with heroin since i was 16, opiate withdrawal IS HELL. But you know what? It aint SHIT COMPARED TO BENZO WD! It's a walk in the park. Most opiate people seem to think there's no worse WD and don't believe benzo wd is worse, but shit man benzo wd can kill you! Not to mention it takes WAY longer and people sometimes feel "off" forever.
After 7 years on these damned benzodiazepines, I was cut-off after a voluntary detox from prescribed pain management Morphine. No doctor (including ER) would reinstate. The Morphine was a relative (6 day) breeze compared to the nearly 1 year horriffic withdrawals, of which they detox hosp. gave me only a 6 day taper, where hell began!
There's a Benzodiazepine Withdrawal Support Group on Facebook if anyone's in need of help regarding benzo withdrawal, or considering it.
So why is cannabis illegal and this shit legal? why? Aren't drugs supposed to be illegal because they are harmful and to protect us? Clearly, this stuff is harmful.
@GanjaEclectus While I do agree with you that it's absolutely outrageous that cannabis is illegal, you do have to recognize that alprazolam and similar benzodiazepines are typically extremely effective at offering short term treatment for patients with chronic anxiety disorders, without many harmful side effects.
@cavs608 i was taking around 10 hydrocodone a day or any pain pill i could get my hands on for 7 years weed saved my ass for real i still get cravings but detox is a hell i never want to go through again....i feel your pain
funny how all the detoxee's are housewives hah! so typical, i lived in a wealthy area during high school, and noticed all my friends moms had BOTTLES of this in their drawers and medicine cabinets...
Why can't doctors just prescribe Xanax as needed? I don't get panic attacks too often. I can't take a Xanax one day and not need it for another week and a half. Sometimes I may need two in a day, but IF YOU DON'T ABUSE IT, OR IF YOUR DOCTOR PRESCRIBES IT PROPERLY, YOU WILL NOT GET ADDICTED!!!!
i quit cold turkey 7 months back. I used to snort it almost daily or put it under my tongue. Then i would run out, & have to wait a whole month to get a refill.... Each time you get a refill, you will run out faster than the last time. I was 17 & i knew quitting on the spot wouldnt be good. I had heart spasms for a few months. I'm still here... So yea, don't abuse drugs
@ontheroof99 you're just fucking ignorant, how you gonna feel something if you take it before sleep............youre addicted. and people dont take 20 to get fuct up they can take 1 or 100 whatever
all it takes is doctors describing this bullshit and rushing you on your merry way and not telling you about what happens if you stop! period. Oh and when you mention to them that you think the drug is making you sicker after doing your own research online they deny that its the drug and prescribe you more! they ought to be shot!
xanax is no joke. i was highly addicted it affected me the wrong way. I would get angry. lost my family and ended up in jail for family violence. when i didnt have it made me feel crazy!!!
Xanax is a pure evil drug that a pill abuser should never be tempted with. F'ing doctors make it too easy to get. Its a damn shame all the lives it ruins. All the poor sucker kids that get messed up with it then find there's practically no easy way out. I pray that someday the big money hungry drug companies won't be able to get away will the legal drug pushing they do through henchmen docs.
@hash1212121212 yes, unfortunately it is by now. you say 2 pills but what milligram is it?
i would be surprised if she hasnt been raised on her dosage in 10 years. its easy to get a tolerance.
xanax is a mean drug, and the history of diazepams is sordid. it seems every ten years or so they develop a new form. like klonopin in the 90s. for the record if you ARE ON METHADONE SPECIFICALLY KLONOPIN IS AS BAD AS XANAX, NOT AN ALTERNATIVE. IF YR MIXING BENZOS AND METH, YR JUST CRUTCHING FOR DOPE.
I used ativan and it helped my anxiety,, but I KNEW I didn't want to be addicted.
So I came off on my own without trusting a doctor to supply more or take me off at a safe rate. I just don't trust doctors. I was taking 1mg pills twice a day, I began cutting them in half, then in half again, .25mg every two hours. It was hell. But i got off, and now a year later, I still crave it, but wont try to find any.
My god! I'm reading all this 1,2,3mg. I'm on 6mg a day! I took 8mg today cause i got a new bottle. I have no intention of coming off it, it's terryfying to think about it. In saying this, i was one of the people who took it for fun! If your one of those people who love their drugs, don't start this one!
Xanax is great at first. All the anxiety and panic goes. Until your body gets used to it. Then it is never stopping game of cat and mouse. Once you start weening off all that anxiety and panic attacks come back 3 fold. No joke. I was prescribed it finally after 10 years of anxiety and panic. I recently decided I've had enough and weened myself down, only to be in a terrible psychic condition way worse than my anxiety and panic before taking it. Its no joke and definitely not worth the "fun".
PLEASE REALIZE XANAX IS NOT A GOOD RECREATIONAL DRUG...its EXTREMELY physically addictive and when dependant...quitting is almost impossible...it effects your CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM...over time your motor neurons sloooow down and you can have seizures and even die trying to quit. good luck to all please dont take xanax...your better off just dealing with a panic attack...or try smoking weed.
I had been taken off Xanax after being incarceratedfor 10 days.At first I wasgiven 2mg TID for 8 days, on the 9th day I was taken off. 3 days later I suffered 7 siezures, lost 7 hours time, and sustained severe injuries coming off the top bunk while in siezure. I awoke in a anbulance with no memorie of where I was, why I was in an abulane, or what year it was. I've been on Xanax for 20 years, and don't see a life for me with out them.
"Non Addictive", the Dr said. "Safer than Valium". Bullshit
@OrTheThirdPerson I'm on day 8 of quitting Xanax cold turkey, it's unbearably hard. I was on it for over 3 mnths but I took 2mg a day everyday sometimes 3mg. Then I quit cold turkey. I felt the extreme panic and anxiety within 15 hours of not taking the pill. I have also been having derealization/depersonalizion which is extremely scary for me. No seizures or anything life threatening as of yet, I hope that won't happen at all. My resting heart has been in the 90's, it's usually in the low 70's.
@RealBigPair Lol. Xanax is most definately physically addicting. Eating a bunch to get high a day or two will not cause physical dependence. But it doesn't take long until u r hooked. Then when u try 2 stop cold turkey, u have seizures. Cold turkey xanax withdrawal is deadly.
And when can we expect another report like this from the networks? This was a hell of a lot older than 3 years. The Big 3 networks make hundreds of millions (if not billions) running commercials for this crap, so I guess I shouldn't hold my breath...
@Pent5HT It was amazing for me too! Until I stopped after 7 years. Four months later, life is hell, and anxiety is probably double that of what it was before starting.
You'll probably be on them for life, so pray Big Pharma doesn't stop making them, or that like me, your doctor doesn't cut you off for fear of being sued! Good luck! Oh, four months later, I'm feeling goosebumps again! The only good thing about quitting!
@catndryer Xanax should be either banned entirely or only used within a clinical setting. Its controls should be as strict as morphine. Giving it out for self administration PRN should be a criminal offense. This is such a deadly drug on withdrawal, you have no idea unless you've seen it or been through it. Every one of us who has been through this knows what I am saying is true and none of us will EVER forget what we went through!
Randy, its not just people who use it as a party drug. I used it as prescribed and realized one day when I ran out I was addicted. When I got the pills the symptoms stopped, but then I was having tolerance w/drawals. I use to think they were a god send, I've changed my mind. More like sent from HELL.
What really blows me away is i only take half a football a day (.05mg) and i can feel the gripping power of just thinking about not taking just that measely 1/2 mg. I'm really a dumb ass because I really don't have anxiety. I take it for recreational reason/bordom. My plan is cut the 1mg football into 4's (0.25mg) and see how that plans out.
ive been on xanax 2mg for about 6 years now and im very dependent on them i am trying to taper myself off of them but my doctor released me as a patient now i have about 15 pills left and don't know what to do anyone know anything i can do to help me, i don't have the money to go to rehab ive already tried to get into rehab but i can't find a place that will help me without money, someone please help me
I dont even fuck with xanax, I just sell it $5 a pop cuz I get em for $1 each with my online hook up. You know, if you find the right place, you can get this shit shipped straight to you no questions asked? Shits crazy, but dont even bother looking on google, all those sites are scams and bullshit you soo hard. If you need any help, send me a message or somethin.....
I did NOT "abuse" Xanax, I was dependent. I've been slowly tapering my benzodiazepine ffor a while in order to ease the powerful withdrawal syndrome associated with benzos such as Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Valium, Halcion, etc. There are few support groups to choose from in this situation, but if you need support while you're going through this process, please check out the website called benzoexodus c om - It's founded by people I know and trust. A great place for benzo withdrawal support.
@theyear2102 and also your body builds tolerance. small doses eventually stop working requiring you to detoxify your body of it, going through withdrawals, or the easy route which is to up the dose.
you people are bunch of little girls! I have been on Xanax for four years and i think its weak as hell. when i want to rid my anxiety i will take phenobarbital, that shit works! Xanax is garbage!!
I looked that girl in the video up apparantly she is an actris and was never really addicted to Xanax all the things she said was bs yes benzos can be extremly bad I know, but Xanax can be salvation for people with chronic anxiety. If it wasn't for Xanax I would never leave my house and would lose my job.
I took this drug for three years. My doctor never told me it was addicting. I had no idea until one day I decided to stop. I only took .5 mg three times a day. Wow, did my anxiety increase and my vision became affected. I ended up tapering off very gradually and thankfully got through it.
During which time I could sit in a cool room and notice my shirt would be wet from perspiration. Xanax is a very addicting drug. Read up on drugs before taking them. Doctors don`t always explain.
@4inches4u my dads been on xanax for 10 years i stole hundreds then went to the doc and lied to get a prescription. id get it filled itd be gone in a couple of days. had 3 seizures actually the last one my filling came out. went to treatment 3 times but it took me goin to jail for 6 months for finally get clean. bottom line dont mess with benzos unless you have extreme anxiety or panic attacks and DONT drive on xanax
Please. I was on 3mg of Xanax a day for years. It offers a lot of help for a lot of people with *real* panic disorders. When the time comes, you can taper off of it *slowly*. It's not easy, but it can be done. Assuming you got it from your Dr. and not off of the street.
Xanax works fantastic and is a God send if NOT abused. It is not a "party drug" and if taken just to 'feel good' you will become crazy dependant in a very short time.
Xanax can be your best friend or your worst enemy...
@adegamisoumounopano I've been taking Xanax and/or Ativan since 1997. I used to take it only for panic attacks, or once or twice a week when work stress was too much. I usually only take .5 mg at a time, except for panic attacks where I will take 1 mg and if more is needed after a couple of hours I will take another .5 mg. If I find myself taking more than 2 mgs a day for more than a couple of days in a row I will "tough it out" and only take .5 to 1mg for a few days.
@randy95023 very useful tip. thanks a lot. xanax helps me but i don't want to end up like some users who take 5+mg a day. i take .5 and it still works great for me. no need for more now. toughing it out is key. we cant expect it to cure us without any effort.
@adegamisoumounopano bro dont even expect xanax to cure it. it just masks it. if there was a cure, we wouldn't even know about it.. because thats how doctors make money dude... what keeps you coming back if your all better? no you have to go back every month and pay a pharmacy... and then do it again. xanax is not a cure. klonipin is not a cure valium is not a cure. they just build up dependency for you to have to go back and cant stop. think about if you couldn't stop taking tylenol w/o dying.
@adegamisoumounopano oh my headaches gone but if i stop taking this tylenol i am going to have seizures and possibly die... and if i don't die, go through weeks of tormenting agony they call benzo withdrawal. replace xanax with tylenol and headache with anxiety.. does it still seem like a cure? or a mask?
@youlosesucka420 bro i know all about the soulless evil schemes of the FDA.. i know they want us addicted.. because a healthy person = no profit for them.. a sick addicted pill head though , nets them good money... its just that the mask is so appealing, and they make money on our weakness... i take xanax.. 0.5 mg a day.. if i ever have then need to take more, i just wont... because it does help me but i know that it can, and will fuck me up.. like it has to so many before me. im no different.
@randy95023 Xanax starts as your best friend and becomes your worst enemy. it's happened to so many in my life, and it's happened to me. Alot of people dont need to abuse it, to become very addicted to it, and then must detox to get off, which in some cases takes months mentally and weeks physically. do your research before calling it a god send, its not fair to say that it's such great of a drug just because it hasn't failed YOU
@youlosesucka420 umm that does make it a good drug for some people. I have been on xanax for over 2 years and without it I would have killed myself. Switched doctors and didnt have it for a couple of months and the withdrawl wasn't a problem for me. I think every person has a different body chemistry and different addiction levels. I quit cold turkey never had any problems. Anxiety was a problem but thats why I am taking it in the first place. Hasn't become my enemy at all.
Saddam was given 0.5mg of xanax everyday while in prison. at the day of his execution he was given a dose of 2mg. No wonder the bitch was calm and composed in facing the gallows.
Can someone here tell me how a pill make a man indefferent to his execution?
Worse then heroin? First off Xanax deals with GABA receptor to "calm" the nervous system and, Heroin on the other hand binds directly to the opioid receptors which effects not only anxiety and depression but directly effects PAIN, you take that away after being addicted and not only do you get the same withdrawals as Xanax, but you also get unimaginable pain far worse then anything Xanax can give you. Try dropping a $500 a day mainline heroin habit and tell me Xanax withdrawals are worse.
@Ensureqwerty benzo withdrawal is far worse than any opiod withdrawal and thats a fact! not only do you get horrific physical symptoms coming off benzos your head goes at the same time, and it can last up to 7 years in a protracted withdrawal, i know heroin addicts who wont go near benzos and they all say herion is a walk in the park to come off in comparrison.
I'm not talking about long term damage caused by abusing your mind with psych drug, I am reffering only to the withrdawl symptoms you get immiediatly after stooping these drugs and I assure you that Heroin is more painfull physically and mentally as it ties directly to you pain receptors, something these benzos do not do.
@Ensureqwerty im not talking about long term damage either, im talking about a prolonged withdrawal state, from immiediatly after and the same for many months and sometimes years, heroin you can cluck it out, it wont kill you, benzos on the other hand can kill you in withdrawal it is that severe, dude if you honestly believe what you are saying then i suggest you do some research, i went to a rehab and watched heroin addicts recover within 7 days, i was so violently ill coming off benzos
the people there thought i was going to die, dude you also say heroin is mentally more painfull to come off??? are you joking??? im not being funny im just astounded how people can think herion withdrawal is worse, even my councellours in rehab admitted benzo withdrawa was 50 times worse, try going through what a heroin addict goes through and then a completly mashed up bad acid trip at the same time and try going through that for 18 months before any restbite at all.
Look Im just speaking to what I know, I know Heroin because I was addicted to it but I don't want to seem like a complete prick so I'll take your word for it as I have not been hooked on benzos, all I know is Heroin withdrawal is extremely painful, I didn't mean to belittle what you went through. Just from a standpoint of what receptors are involved in each drug lead me to assume that heroin withdrawal is more painful, but to assume that without coming off both drugs is clearly wrong. Peace
Also congratulations on your recovery, it clearly wasn't easy so you should be proud of yourself and use that experience to grow and become a stronger person. Peace
Hey, I was just prescribed Xanax for panic attacks.... Its a very low does, and I am only supposed to take it with the onset of a panic attack. Never as anything regular. In your opinion will I be OK as long as its for and taken only when I have a panic attack, which is about 2 a month....
Some of this shit is scaring me, especially since I have an addictive personality... Will I be OK if I use it only when a panic attack happens rather then regularily?
be very respectful of benzos,,,,,i had a 10 years addiciton(if not longer) was hell to overcome but was sooo werth it *(after a year er so lol) u dont neeed alot 2 get hooked ,,, just taking them daily is enuff to create an awful detrox,,, but i guess not everyone is like me and takes it too far,,, just my 2 cents werth(half a cent american)
Anyone going through benzo withdrawal will benefit from reading the Benzo-Wise: A Recovery Companion book. It explains everything and will help you to recover.
Hey there..not sure if anyone answered your question. Yes, do not stop on your own. I was forced to stop cold turkey because i was not getting it legally. It forced me into the ER. Once I got a Doctor's help it changed my life. They will allow you to taper off and prescribe something less potent. Whatever the case, taking medication for anxiety is fine under supervsion of a Doctor. I found that just having a legal prescription of a less potent medication helped my anxiety immediately.
Clonazepam (Klonopin). Unlike Xanax or Valium it doesn't hit you all at once. Because of that you don't feel medicated like you do with Xanax or Valium (unless you take too much). I am not a Dr. obviously but I haven't built up a significant tolerance for it either. I think that has to do with its potentcy. My dose has actually decreased since I started it for everyday use. I admittedly take more in very stressful situations but I would rather do that than be back on Xanax.
Oh my science you fucking idiot, I have been prescribed both xanax and kpins which are both benzo's so they work the exact same way with your brain chemistry and will cause the same addictive drawbacks but everything that I have heard from my doctors is that kpins are harder to come off and cause worse withdrawals. -food for thought
I'm really sick and tired of the bad rep psych drugs are getting in the media. These things help alot of people including myself and there will always be accidents with these things but should a car dealer not sell a Porsche to a customer because of the risks?
Someone said xanax is an opiate, it is definitely not do your research
people really need to stop whining you're a grown up and no one is forcing you to take it it's like the people suing the tobacco companies be responsible for yourself of course they say it's not addictive that's PR but you know it's addictive they're tranquilizers just like the barbs and the old benzos
be careful kids. i used to sell bars by the 100s. got to the point where eating 20 mg at once (10 bars) had no effect. then had a grand mal seizure and slipped a disc in my back because the seizure was so intense. i almost died.
yeah bars are fun, but your tolerance/dependence can't get out of control very quickly and you don't even realize it until you're fucked.
wow very informative video. ive been diagnosed with anxiety, and marijuana helps whatever that is. Since ive been blazing ive had no problems at all, besides legal trouble. now my mom is working with a therapist to get me off weed and on to xanax because its legal... this video makes me think twice about switching from the effective with no side effects but illegal drug marijuana to the legal drug ive had no experience with that could potentially ruin my life in xanax. thanks
I work in a pharmacy and I feel so bad for people who are out of Xanax and we can't give them any because its a control. Alot of elderly people are on xanax. I also see alot of people faking scripts for xanax.
It's just so amazing to see that people are still taking Xanax, despite the horrific withdrawals. 3 months for short-term seems too long, doesn't it? I think this pill should be taken one time a month so it can work its' wonders.
I'm prescribed 2mg of xanax a day for social anxiety, however I only take it on very stressful days. I have no problem going a week without it as long as I'm not facing any stressful situations. I've been using it for almost 2 years now and haven't experienced any problems. Xanax is definitely not comparable to heroin for God's sake. The instances in this video are of the most extreme cases. Xanax is safe in moderation, and not in the hands of a person with an addictive personality.
@knoxville902 Oh for God's sake it is comparable to heroin if taken everyday, but you wouldn't know about that because you were never addicted to it in the first place!
Anyone about to taper or already withdrawing from benzos will benefit from reading the new "Benzo-Wise: A Recovery Companion" book available from Amazon. This is not spam... I just have to let others know. This book is amazing and will help you, your family etc. to cope.
That is a good book. Xanax and all the other anti anxiety medicines are from Hell, and will put you through hell. Avoid them like the plague! And tell everyone you know the same thing.
way outdated video clip. feeds fear and scare mongers people with a real disorder than a legitimate drug not be used because you COULD potentially be one of the minority of folks who goes off recklessly and gets in trouble with it. Ive been on it about a year and still havent upped my dose. my doctor says its ok to take up to 1.5 per day but I seldom exceed .75 a day. it might not so as absolute a job but it takes things down enough to help reasonably well.
This video is an antique from the 80's! -The correct way to stop taking Benzodiazepines is a VERY gradual reduction in dosage over time; perhaps a year or more depending on your personal condition. NEVER stop cold turkey, you will suffer needlessly if you do. Talk to your doctor.
i argre scar, I think the taper method is probably the best option to get off of these meds though. Not some rapid 3-5 day detox. Most ppl switch over to Valium to taper b/c of its long half life.
yo iu have prolly takin as much xanax as some1 who is perscribe to them sometimes takin 2 mounths in a row every day like 4 a day
then i stop takin them idn will drawl or go crazy idn feen 4 more sure i wanted it but idn need after taking it these people i just weakwilled and they say it hard then kicking heroine that funny
if I run out of my benzo, its scary as hell, the withdrawal is pure hell and the withdrawal lasts for months sometimes depending how long you've been on it.
HOW ABOUT THE FDA AND THE US GOVERNMENT DECRIMINALIZE MARIJUANA!!! Marijuana sure as hell doesnt kill you if you decide to stop smoking it. Worst withdrawl effect from marijuana is irritability. I have had the worst anxiety since I was little. I started smoking weed and that all went away. Unfortunately I fucked up and took ecstasy which gave me HPPD so now I cant smoke weed because it makes my HPPD worse. Damn it. But for those who dont have HPPD its the greatest gift ever.
youre a no-brainer...making weed legle would just add another problem to the list, booze , tobacoo and prescription drugs are already wreaking lives so why add weed to the list? i smoke weed by the way, im just not a idiot and i know weed can fuck ppl up.
Ha... how exactly does weed fuck people up as in ruining their lives? I would love to know. If it was legal getting a job wouldnt be a problem, so think up. I cant wait to see what answer you come up with.
So what does that make you? And weed doesnt ruin anything. It does no harm to your body. And you are who you are, so dont blame weed for peoples laziness to do anything or wanting to do other drugs after smoking weed. If it was legal it wouldnt hinder your ability to get a job that drugtests now. So how is it so bad? Whats bad is that billions of dollars in US citizens tax money is fucking wasted on putting pot smokers and dealers in jail. That money could go to new roads or tax breaks instead.
i didnt say its the blame for ppls laziness? youre attacking me for shit i havent even said...you need help, youre a freak and a idiot, grow up and stop being a little whining bitch, youre a god damn drama queen.
I speak from the Universal Medical School of Hard Knocks and experience, smarty! Ever been in a Xanax induced assualt that ruined your life to enjoy 3 years of begging for answer? Then kindly, keep your jokes to yourself. Thank you.
I can't even understand your sentences. You don't know what I have been through with this drug. I detest it. But your broad generalizations about medication just illustrates how you have - no idea what you're talking about. Just because I think Xanax is dangerous and ineffective doesn't give me the right to start talking like a fool.
Heroin withdrawal will not kill you. Benzodiazepine withdrawal can kill you. Seizures are the worst part of kicking benzo's and can possibly kill you.

So why is cannabis illegal and this shit legal? why? Aren't drugs supposed to be illegal because they are harmful and to protect us? Clearly, this stuff is harmful.
GanjaEclectus 4 months ago 7
@GanjaEclectus While I do agree with you that it's absolutely outrageous that cannabis is illegal, you do have to recognize that alprazolam and similar benzodiazepines are typically extremely effective at offering short term treatment for patients with chronic anxiety disorders, without many harmful side effects.

Xanax is a pure evil drug that a pill abuser should never be tempted with. F'ing doctors make it too easy to get. Its a damn shame all the lives it ruins. All the poor sucker kids that get messed up with it then find there's practically no easy way out. I pray that someday the big money hungry drug companies won't be able to get away will the legal drug pushing they do through henchmen docs.

i would be surprised if she hasnt been raised on her dosage in 10 years. its easy to get a tolerance.
xanax is a mean drug, and the history of diazepams is sordid. it seems every ten years or so they develop a new form. like klonopin in the 90s. for the record if you ARE ON METHADONE SPECIFICALLY KLONOPIN IS AS BAD AS XANAX, NOT AN ALTERNATIVE. IF YR MIXING BENZOS AND METH, YR JUST CRUTCHING FOR DOPE.

So I came off on my own without trusting a doctor to supply more or take me off at a safe rate. I just don't trust doctors. I was taking 1mg pills twice a day, I began cutting them in half, then in half again, .25mg every two hours. It was hell.

@randy95023 how long have you been taking it for? and how many mg do you use a day? how do you feel now, 5 months after your post?
adegamisoumounopano 1 year ago
@adegamisoumounopano I've been taking Xanax and/or Ativan since 1997. I used to take it only for panic attacks, or once or twice a week when work stress was too much. I usually only take .5 mg at a time, except for panic attacks where I will take 1 mg and if more is needed after a couple of hours I will take another .5 mg. If I find myself taking more than 2 mgs a day for more than a couple of days in a row I will "tough it out" and only take .5 to 1mg for a few days.
randy95023 1 year ago
@randy95023 very useful tip. thanks a lot. xanax helps me but i don't want to end up like some users who take 5+mg a day. i take .5 and it still works great for me. no need for more now. toughing it out is key. we cant expect it to cure us without any effort.
adegamisoumounopano 1 year ago
@adegamisoumounopano bro dont even expect xanax to cure it. it just masks it. if there was a cure, we wouldn't even know about it.. because thats how doctors make money dude... what keeps you coming back if your all better? no you have to go back every month and pay a pharmacy... and then do it again. xanax is not a cure. klonipin is not a cure valium is not a cure. they just build up dependency for you to have to go back and cant stop. think about if you couldn't stop taking tylenol w/o dying.
youlosesucka420 1 year ago
@adegamisoumounopano oh my headaches gone but if i stop taking this tylenol i am going to have seizures and possibly die... and if i don't die, go through weeks of tormenting agony they call benzo withdrawal. replace xanax with tylenol and headache with anxiety.. does it still seem like a cure? or a mask?
youlosesucka420 1 year ago
@youlosesucka420 bro i know all about the soulless evil schemes of the FDA.. i know they want us addicted.. because a healthy person = no profit for them.. a sick addicted pill head though , nets them good money... its just that the mask is so appealing, and they make money on our weakness... i take xanax.. 0.5 mg a day.. if i ever have then need to take more, i just wont... because it does help me but i know that it can, and will fuck me up.. like it has to so many before me. im no different.
adegamisoumounopano 1 year ago
@randy95023 Xanax starts as your best friend and becomes your worst enemy. it's happened to so many in my life, and it's happened to me. Alot of people dont need to abuse it, to become very addicted to it, and then must detox to get off, which in some cases takes months mentally and weeks physically. do your research before calling it a god send, its not fair to say that it's such great of a drug just because it hasn't failed YOU
youlosesucka420 1 year ago 2
@youlosesucka420 umm that does make it a good drug for some people. I have been on xanax for over 2 years and without it I would have killed myself. Switched doctors and didnt have it for a couple of months and the withdrawl wasn't a problem for me. I think every person has a different body chemistry and different addiction levels. I quit cold turkey never had any problems. Anxiety was a problem but thats why I am taking it in the first place. Hasn't become my enemy at all.

soranB55 10 months ago
Worse then heroin? First off Xanax deals with GABA receptor to "calm" the nervous system and, Heroin on the other hand binds directly to the opioid receptors which effects not only anxiety and depression but directly effects PAIN, you take that away after being addicted and not only do you get the same withdrawals as Xanax, but you also get unimaginable pain far worse then anything Xanax can give you. Try dropping a $500 a day mainline heroin habit and tell me Xanax withdrawals are worse.
Ensureqwerty 2 years ago
@Ensureqwerty benzo withdrawal is far worse than any opiod withdrawal and thats a fact! not only do you get horrific physical symptoms coming off benzos your head goes at the same time, and it can last up to 7 years in a protracted withdrawal, i know heroin addicts who wont go near benzos and they all say herion is a walk in the park to come off in comparrison.
ccfc500 2 years ago
I'm not talking about long term damage caused by abusing your mind with psych drug, I am reffering only to the withrdawl symptoms you get immiediatly after stooping these drugs and I assure you that Heroin is more painfull physically and mentally as it ties directly to you pain receptors, something these benzos do not do.
Ensureqwerty 2 years ago
@Ensureqwerty im not talking about long term damage either, im talking about a prolonged withdrawal state, from immiediatly after and the same for many months and sometimes years, heroin you can cluck it out, it wont kill you, benzos on the other hand can kill you in withdrawal it is that severe, dude if you honestly believe what you are saying then i suggest you do some research, i went to a rehab and watched heroin addicts recover within 7 days, i was so violently ill coming off benzos
ccfc500 2 years ago
the people there thought i was going to die, dude you also say heroin is mentally more painfull to come off??? are you joking??? im not being funny im just astounded how people can think herion withdrawal is worse, even my councellours in rehab admitted benzo withdrawa was 50 times worse, try going through what a heroin addict goes through and then a completly mashed up bad acid trip at the same time and try going through that for 18 months before any restbite at all.
ccfc500 2 years ago
Look Im just speaking to what I know, I know Heroin because I was addicted to it but I don't want to seem like a complete prick so I'll take your word for it as I have not been hooked on benzos, all I know is Heroin withdrawal is extremely painful, I didn't mean to belittle what you went through. Just from a standpoint of what receptors are involved in each drug lead me to assume that heroin withdrawal is more painful, but to assume that without coming off both drugs is clearly wrong. Peace
Ensureqwerty 2 years ago
Also congratulations on your recovery, it clearly wasn't easy so you should be proud of yourself and use that experience to grow and become a stronger person. Peace

Bitsonpieces79 2 years ago
what was the less potent prescription that helped you?
vicki307 2 years ago
Clonazepam (Klonopin). Unlike Xanax or Valium it doesn't hit you all at once. Because of that you don't feel medicated like you do with Xanax or Valium (unless you take too much). I am not a Dr. obviously but I haven't built up a significant tolerance for it either. I think that has to do with its potentcy. My dose has actually decreased since I started it for everyday use. I admittedly take more in very stressful situations but I would rather do that than be back on Xanax.
Bitsonpieces79 2 years ago
Oh my science you fucking idiot, I have been prescribed both xanax and kpins which are both benzo's so they work the exact same way with your brain chemistry and will cause the same addictive drawbacks but everything that I have heard from my doctors is that kpins are harder to come off and cause worse withdrawals. -food for thought

people really need to stop whining you're a grown up and no one is forcing you to take it it's like the people suing the tobacco companies be responsible for yourself of course they say it's not addictive that's PR but you know it's addictive they're tranquilizers just like the barbs and the old benzos
goldentomcat 2 years ago
be careful kids. i used to sell bars by the 100s. got to the point where eating 20 mg at once (10 bars) had no effect. then had a grand mal seizure and slipped a disc in my back because the seizure was so intense. i almost died.
yeah bars are fun, but your tolerance/dependence can't get out of control very quickly and you don't even realize it until you're fucked.

way outdated video clip. feeds fear and scare mongers people with a real disorder than a legitimate drug not be used because you COULD potentially be one of the minority of folks who goes off recklessly and gets in trouble with it. Ive been on it about a year and still havent upped my dose. my doctor says its ok to take up to 1.5 per day but I seldom exceed .75 a day. it might not so as absolute a job but it takes things down enough to help reasonably well.

things have just gotten worse with this drug

This video is an antique from the 80's! -The correct way to stop taking Benzodiazepines is a VERY gradual reduction in dosage over time; perhaps a year or more depending on your personal condition. NEVER stop cold turkey, you will suffer needlessly if you do. Talk to your doctor.

Anyone dealing with benzo withdrawal should check out a website called Benzo Wise - it is full of information and is also very encouraging.

i argre scar, I think the taper method is probably the best option to get off of these meds though. Not some rapid 3-5 day detox. Most ppl switch over to Valium to taper b/c of its long half life.

MAKER6450 2 years ago
Ha... how exactly does weed fuck people up as in ruining their lives? I would love to know. If it was legal getting a job wouldnt be a problem, so think up. I cant wait to see what answer you come up with.
daniel52587 2 years ago
i have no time for idiots like you
MAKER6450 2 years ago
Thats what I thought. You cant think of anything.
daniel52587 2 years ago
you just prooved youre a true idiot, just as i thought
MAKER6450 2 years ago
i do smoke by the way.
MAKER6450 2 years ago
So what does that make you? And weed doesnt ruin anything. It does no harm to your body. And you are who you are, so dont blame weed for peoples laziness to do anything or wanting to do other drugs after smoking weed. If it was legal it wouldnt hinder your ability to get a job that drugtests now. So how is it so bad? Whats bad is that billions of dollars in US citizens tax money is fucking wasted on putting pot smokers and dealers in jail. That money could go to new roads or tax breaks instead.
daniel52587 2 years ago
i didnt say its the blame for ppls laziness? youre attacking me for shit i havent even said...you need help, youre a freak and a idiot, grow up and stop being a little whining bitch, youre a god damn drama queen.

If you have stress, deal with it, don't think any drug is going to stop you from being a jackass but you. No excuses.

How's that medical degree treatin' ya, doc?
thekookaii 3 years ago
I speak from the Universal Medical School of Hard Knocks and experience, smarty! Ever been in a Xanax induced assualt that ruined your life to enjoy 3 years of begging for answer? Then kindly, keep your jokes to yourself. Thank you.
onimoru777 3 years ago
I can't even understand your sentences. You don't know what I have been through with this drug. I detest it. But your broad generalizations about medication just illustrates how you have - no idea what you're talking about. Just because I think Xanax is dangerous and ineffective doesn't give me the right to start talking like a fool.
thekookaii 3 years ago
Heroin withdrawal will not kill you. Benzodiazepine withdrawal can kill you. Seizures are the worst part of kicking benzo's and can possibly kill you.
derek2653 3 years ago
have you ever been through heroin withdrawls? or are you just going off info you have read in text books?
