A few years ago, a man attempted murder-suicide by throwing his children off the local bridge into the sea. One of the children survived the fall and begged for help from the fisherman who were casting lines near the bridge. None of the fishermen attempted to help her. When they were subsequently asked why, one of them said "The fish were biting."

That TRUE story is enough to make me steer clear of fishermen - they have some serious warped priorities.
