@qwertyuiop298 I would check out her 9 episodes of In Treatment... You can watch them without watching the other episodes. Her performance is incredible.
@theAshleygirl12 She was originally Mia Reid. Her father is Australian and she was born in Canberra, which is the capital of Australia. Her mother was Polish, but she has been in Australia for nearly 40 years.
She decided to use her mothers last name when she started her film career in Australia, because she thought her birth name was a bit dull.
@whipthedog How do you know that? Given that her sister is Jess Wasikowska and her brother is Kai Wasikowski (with an i since he's male), I would bet that Mia's parents gave her the surname Wasikowska at birth.
You don't go to the doctress when you're sick, do you? "Other"-ising a profession (that is, describing it as different from the standard or male form) diminishes its importance. Distinction by gender is inherently sexist.
@aleatory6 Sorry if im "sexist" but to me a female actor is an actress, I feel like im insulting an actress by calling her an actor because I feel like im calling her a dude. I don't think it diminishes importance at all.
@Jammsbro1 Sorry if it pisses you off, but honestly I don't really care. I prefer call a female actor an actress. Like I said before, I feel like I am insulting an actress by calling her an actor because I feel like I am calling her a dude.
she's australian and she is amazing :) i love her and she is so much more talented then some of those crummy american teen actors and singers (aka justin beiber!) that we see today!
its a series of therapy sessions. mon-fri and it follow 5 different people for 9 weeks. its really fascinating if you have any interest in amazing acting or in psychology. i watched it on netflix a few months ago and sophies episodes were always the best.
since I saw her playing as sophie on in treatment I´ve become her number 1 fan.I love the way she made me cry,I´ve never felt like this before watching a show.good luck,Mia,way to go!
@ilovepanslabyrinth Yeah i thaught it was even better than i expected. I love how he always takes something cute and turns it into something weird. ^^ I only wish the Cheshire Cat would have gotten more screentime.
I'm still not sure about Planet of the Apes though. Not a bad movie, certainly not, but a little... well...not as good as his other movies.
@ilovepanslabyrinth I absolutely loved AW and saw it multiple times in the theater, mainly because I was immediately sucked in by Mia's performance. The amount of backlash that's been directed at this movie is just insane.
She is soooooooooooooo good, she's the perfect Alice!!!!!!!! I can't wait for Tim Burton's Sequel. I read the script, and it's very good, there is a love story with one character from Wonderland, in this story "Underland", but I did'nt want say any spoilers....^^ She's sooo cute and just love her passion for acting!!!!
Disney+Tim Burton+Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland+ Mia Wasikowska= A whole cinema masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, that's what I've been saying. I'd say they were related if one wasn't born in Australia and the other in America. But yeah, very My So-Called Life here.
But better. lol I like Claire Danes, but sometimes she comes off so damn stiff. She doesn't come off as convincing. She was good on "My So Called Life" and in "Romeo & Juliet," but a lot of other stuff, not so much.
Am I the only one who sees a slight resemblence bewtween Mia Wasikowska and a young Jennifer Jason Leigh? I think it's around the eyes and mouth. Kind of they way they talk. Does anyone else see it?
were family friends, she was actually over at my house the other week for a BBQ playing halo on the X-box with me lol.
I knew she would become an actress as she was in a couple of small movies and TV shows but gosh I didn't expect to see her acting with Johnny Depp and Daniel Graig. big shock to everyone!
I just saw that episode of Treatment in finnish tv. She is brilliant! So young and so talented. I think she sometimes looks like Geena Rowlands... For sure I´m going to see her in movies, Alice and others!
i'm so pumped for alice in wonderland. stephen fry for cheshire cat? yes! helena b carter for the queen? it's like all my fav actors have decided to make my dream come true.
@ arained: it's a tv serial called "In Treatment" .
@ mmnessa: Burton will change so many things in from the original story that the age of this actress will be the smallest detail, trust me. she fits perfectly the role.
Now that I have some idea of her acting, I think she will at least do Alice justice. I hope she does well, because if she doesn't it will just totally kill the movie for me, reguardless of my Johhny and Hellie.
can anyone message me about any pic from the Alice film i think they've stared filmin it(like on set with Mia or something) i heard about it a long time ago and can't wait i love Tim Burtons films have not seen a movie of his that i hate his movies are so different then any others Alice in the book was 7 years old so it will be different to the book but i think it will still be gr8 lots of others tim could've chose for it mia must be gr8 to get it i h8 over rated stars like Dakota fanning
she's freaking incredible... has blown my mind throughout the entire series. she seriously deserves an emmy. no question. i hope she'll be in season 2.
Tim Burton casted a great girl for Alice, she will be awesome, and definetely with make up and special custome she could look like a teen or even better a pre teen
