OK, so moments after my last post I just saw that Kathy made the transition to MMA, and now I'm blown away. Kathy, if you ever read this, know that you have officially transcended inspiration to reach legend.

As a 26 year martial artist I've been impressed with Kathy since I first saw her fight in the early 80's. I've never seen another female fighter (save for Chris cyborg) with as much aggressiveness and will to win in my life. One tough cookie to be sure and a well deserving member of the hall of fame.

I remember watching "Knights" with my pals - still one of the best films there ever was, by the way - all of us had a crush on Cathy and I recall wordings like "I'd let her kick out my brains any day".

This also got me interested in kickboxing and later bokator, although nowadays I'm more into the Russian martial arts and Systema.

Apears that Kathy Long was a skillful and aggressive fighter...quick and accurate punches... Perhaps not a KO puncher tho, which probably few female punchers are..Did Kathy ever KO an opponent?

BEST KATHY WEIGH IN STORY:

France Kathy is fighting Dani Roca for her WKA title. Dani is way way over the limit, but her country her title. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO? She is wearing hot lingerie.. I mention she looks hot. Kathy says, "Hope u like her after I f up her face"

The fight starts and you know when Kathy was done, her face was definitely not so hot. Great fight, well executed against a tough champion. She really became THE WORLD CHAMPION that night!

Anyone ever see pictures from Long's weigh-in for the Kamikaze fight? Kamikaze weighed in a t-shirt a shorts. Then, Long gets up to weigh in and strips down to the tiniest black string bikini you ever saw. She looked spectacular, of course. Amazing body shredded in sexy, femine muscle. Kamikaze took one look at Long's beautiful physique and thought "I have to fight that?" She was intimidated by Long's body and lost the fight accordingly.

True story, except it was a multi-color bikini. Kamikaze lost the mental battle at the weigh-in and was intimidated after that. Tough opponent though, watch her other fights. Kamikaze is a warrior. At the end she had broken ribs, a sore face and damaged kidneys, but she still kept getting up and wouldn't quit!

I know. Kamikaze was tough. I love that fight where she drops Breitfelder with a vicious head kick. The crack of that kick landing was so loud, you can hear a collective gasp from the crowd. Since I booked Kathy's fights I am in a position to comment on this. We were never formally offered a fight with Rijker. We were approached by promoters who wanted to do it.

Kathy was at 122 to 126#. We told everyone 12 rnds at 126 we're there. Some responded 135# for 5 rnds muay thai. Both smart camps looking for advantage.

Ultimately Rijker and Kathy were both amazing champions. It's a shame they didn't fight, but neither woman was afraid, I assure you.
