  • A truly exceptional racehorse - he gave his all in every single race. So talented, so genuine, so tough.

  • the iron horse a horse with an iron will, the will to win.

  • Such a handsome horse, I want his filly out of Rags so bad! He was just such a fighter, so brave, so much courage! This is a great tribute to him! Perfection!

  • the iron horse europes greates fighter a master of class and heart, nobody could get pass him except one mightier horse..the great TIZNOW who on giants causeway best day wouldnt let anybody pass him he proved it that year and the next when they threw another champion in sakhee

  • @TBabytko

It's true that Tiznow was great, very great, but mightier? Well, IF Tiznow had raced Giant's Causeway on Turf and beaten him, you would be entitled to say that... but Tiznow had home advantage in their meeting, so sorry, but it doesn't fly.

  • I Love this videoo

    really great tribute 2 himm

    he was the toughest

  • I like that camera angle at :04/:05

  • I love Giant's Causeway-- a perfect end to the St. Paddy's celebrations -- Thanks !!!

  • I can't wait for Rags to Riches foal. RTR's foal is sired by Giants Causeway.

  • Bloodhorse has photos of the foal

  • he rules :)

  • so whose's awesome idea was this? =p

  • Giant's Causeway; A beast of a horse.

    Great video.

  • He raced in the US, yes or no?

  • I think once, when he lost to Tiznow

  • That's what I thought. Was that his only race in the US?

  • As I said, "I think once"

  • @carlykaiser Yes that is true, he lost in the Breeders cup classic to tiznow, although it would be fair to say, he may have won it had the Jockey (Michael Kinane) not lost his stirrups

  • Forever a champion and truly battle tested. Never would he allow a horse to nub him on the wire. :) Brilliant video, great tribute Carly!!!

  • Storm Cat's greatest son, ahh I miss him.

  • 5% talent, 95% courage

  • The true heart of a champion is to know exactly where the finish line is, and to Respond when he gets looked in the eye.

Horses that win by large margins, are not really tested.

These races gave me flashbacks of the great Affirmed, and how he wouldn't let Alydar pass him.

  • I don't neccessarily like the statement about horses who win by large margins. Sometimes you have a horse (for example, Curlin, Secretariat, Ruffian, Man O' War, Seabiscuit, Friesian Fire, Big Brown, Rags To Riches, Invasor, BARBARO, Smarty Jones, Funny Cide, War Emblem, War Pass, etc...) all these horses at some point have won by huge margins. When you hahve horses like this, they're just too darn good to be tested to the wire. And don't say they're not because some of the greats are in there.

  • Don't get me wrong, there are the great horses who are just to fast, and win by huge margins, but my point is that true heart, NOT speed or Greatness, is shown by the ability to resist a challenge. A perfect example of what I'm saying is Seattle Slew. He won most of his races by a large margin, BUT I believe the greatest race of his life was when he lost to Exceller at Belmont. John Henry is another example.

  • Hmmmm...I still don't know... I just don't think so. Different opinions? Yes. But I DO see your point. But the fact is, racing isn't judged that way. People don't look at the horses losses and say 'Oh, that was his greatest race!' No, theey look at Slew's Triple Crown and say, 'Thosse are great wins'. But I see what you're saying. Sorry, I just don't agree. And I'm not saying Giant's Causeway is bad, far from it, he just delt with horses as good as he was and he proved to be slightly better.

  • He was way better! :)
