Fergie has got pipes, her song on Slash's album is really good and don't get me wrong, I'd never buy a bep album. She should have came in sooner in this song because Bono sounded kinda weak singing it and I agree with someone comment below, the edge's little solo had no energy in it. Mick is still kicking ass though.
What an absolute perfect and beautiful performance. Any who doubts that The Rolling Stones are Rock n' Roll royalty are invited to jump out of a ten story window!
okay basically thats fuckin brilliant . so anyone who has a problem with this is dum as fuck and aint got a clue bout music . u2 bred new life into this tune 40 years on . great work lads
Fergie Ferg (or whatever the hell her name is) is not worthy of stage presence here. I hope she thanks her lucky stars and at least volunteers to do Mick's laundry backstage.
@puffinthecat R U FUCKING kidding me??? You might not like her, but she can FUCKING SING!! Not that solo shit or with BEPeas, but she can ROCK! Check her out performing on stage with Heart. Mutha Fucka!
whomever decided to put fergie and mick together is a genius... the combo on this performance is fantastic. you'd figure since he's almost a mummy :P it wouldn't have turned out so well, but it DID!! Bravo!!!
Fergie looked as if she impressed all of the guys on stage...I watched this performance it was the shit...Fergie holds her own and Mick loved it just like he always does the ladies......
@remo2828 Esto va a formar parte de la historia de la musica y vos ,siendo uno de los pocos latinos posteando , lo unico que tenes para decir es tirar mierda.Una verguenza para tu propia gente!
I dig The Edge but this song is pure Keith . Nobody but him can do justice to this song . Keith is the HEART AND SOUL of The Rolling Stones ! Long Live The Human Riff !!!!
everyone did a great job!!!!watrch the hbo concert and ya can tell!!! jagger will always have it....best jagger_ richards song ever written!!!!!!!!!!.............sher
Fergie kinda took it over at the end. There were several choruses that she sang over. U2 were trying to back up with Mick, but she cut everyone off. Must be nice to reign dominion over U2 and Mick.
yeah dumb asses, anyone knocking bono for Laying back in the face of the previous king, who is now a revival act of his former self, knows nothing of Bono's humility and respect.
for God's sake they are blowing away the Stones world record tours and the man is being humble in the fact of the reality that BONO IS THE NEXT MICK JAGGER, but is only still current relevant and 15 years ahead of them overall.
they have all the groove anyone could ever have, yet this was a really bad performance. the power chords sounded bad and i didn't think mick was that good either but Jesus, fergie was better i than i would have ever thought she would be!!
Mick, Fergie, and the Edge brought it. The rest was of it was pretty weak. And somebody please kill the guy playing the synthesizer. Fucking horrible.
must everything be a beauty pageant in this today. What ever happened to common dignity and respect for human beings and their talent. Everything has to be perceived as pitcher perfect to be respected. The Jonas brothers, not to bash them, but probably wouldn't be as famous as they are now if weren't for people finding them attractive.
all I said was, Thank God they didn't get an HD closeup of her face, cuz I just got a new keyboard from the last time I saw a closeup of her face and lost my lunch all over it.
You people today only care about the way someone looks and don't acknowledge their talent or what they say and do. That is okay and your right, which I'm not infringing upon, but you miss out on things when you only focus someone's looks. Being respected as a musician today and probably since the mid 90's means being perceived as being pretty and flamboyant, where as the musicians from 60's,70's and 80's were more appreciated for their art than so their looks.
My 2 cents - Bono slowed down the song...the fergie chick was a 'pick me up' - Mick - sounded good the symphony accompanyment during chorus and ending (probably a keyboard synth) was jagged...Keef would have completed this - he's really the 200 proof in a bottle of Everclear - - Nothing against Bono - - or U2 they are softer derivative of Rock - Cheers.
As a rabid U2 fan I can honestly say that I think you are correct. (The second verse was flat) Bono seems a little tired and world weary these days. (Just saw them in NY, Phoenix and Las Vegas)
U2's music is still sublime (love "Unknown Caller" from the new record) and they are still tremendous in concert, but something was lacking. Whenever Bono cuts his hair (last time it was the "Pop" tour) the Samson effect occurs. Also, Bono looked a little intimidated by Mick - who can blame him?
of coarse it did most people can`t judge a performance on something someone posted on youtube!! Is this from a video cam someone took in and recorded?
No I realize that it will sound different. But I didn't realize the guitar part during the chorus when I was at the concert. I was too busy screaming and singing...lol. Concert was phenomenal. I don't know how they recorded it but it came out great!
Yeah you and me both lol. Mick, U2, Simon & Garfunkel, STING!, Stevie Wonder!!, Aretha Franklin and...Fergie? (o_0) The "I'm so three thousand and eight, you so two thousand and late." Chick? Okay.
wow, I was there and it was amazing. Especially Metallica and U2 with Mick. But did you notice bad reception by the public for Patti, Lou and someone else? Why?
@gfwr I was there as well (actually - I was there for both nights thanks to 1iota-dot-com's free tickets). I'm guessing you're talking about when Patti, Lou and Bruce were singing "Because The Night" - Patti flubbed the opening lyrics repeatedly despite the huge teleprompters - everyone in the audience knew those lyrics. :)
I'm a Jeff Beck fan, so Clapton's gallbladder problem worked out VERY well for me - Jeff's set with Tal, Vinnie and Jason was SUPERB! :)
I'm no B.E.P or Fergie fan, but her voice is perfectly suited for this and I totally disagree. She's the closest to the original key and intonation of the original female backing vocal (was it Merri Clayton??).
The version that The Stones did with vocalist Lisa Fischer in Amsterdam 95 is a mind blower. Look it up. This was meh once I saw the 95 version.
