  • when i her this, i think of Platoon

  • @kestkr: Patriotism is a citizens right to peacefully protest if the country they reside make mistakes. When you pledge allegiance to something, your hand is not required to be on your heart. The change I seek has come to this country, we have health care, the iraq war is over, we finally have regulation of the big banks and wall street reform. BTW, Mr. Birther, the president denounced the rev. remarks vehemently. Though, I'm sure you disregarded that. Typical of the venom from the right.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Mission S.O.G :D

  • When i hear this song, i think of Tropic Thunder

  • beast ass song!

    thumbs up my comment!!!!

  • very good !! music !^^: D:D:D

  • And if you really want a true understanding of the Vietnam War, just ask any Vietnam Vet, they'll tell you the truth, it was all bullshit and propaganda, lives were lost or destroyed and all for what??

  • Great song!! One of my Dad's favorite songs from CCR. He was 19 years old when he was sent to fight in the Vietnam war.

  • Anti-Vietnam War

  • SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!

    ╭∩╮(︶︿︶)╭∩╮

  • ccr are just brilliant.

  • I love that all of the statistical quotes are from the likes of Westmoreland and Nixon. These are good guys to take your facts from because they were known for their honesty. You should be a fact checker for Fox News.

  • Thank you Mafia Man500 for clarifying -- this song comes from first-person point of view. He's telling us who he is -- who went to Vietnam -- the lower classes -- not Senator Al Gore Sr.'s son, the fortunate son Al Jr., or George H.W. Bush's son, George W. . .That isn't the case in Iraq.

  • I'm 15 and i found out about this band because my grandpa always playes these songs. These days it is easy to find what your looking for, just type a couple of lyrics! And yes i do own Black Opps and Battlefield Vietnam but i knew knew this song before thay even came out i just didn't know it came out during Vietnam.

  • A lot of bullshit here. The first guys who dropped into Vietnam were Airborne units who shed blood and got fucked.

  • battlefield vietnam (the place where i heard it first time) and from then i don't stop listening to it .........

  • I just don't have the energy! Disabled Vietnam Vet

  • read the book "Waiting for an Army to die"

  • thumbs if BC2 brings you to these videos

  • 14 people are senator's sons

  • @mafiaman500 who cares from what game you got it from, its about the song and kids like you dont even knew the band till those games came out

  • @mafiaman500 Sadly, Youtube isn't letting me thumbs down your idiotic comments. "the people who dislike are from vietnam" What? That doesn't even make sense. This song isn't making fun of people who went to Vietnam or are from Vietnam, its making fun of the people who are all "GOGO WAR" but got themselves out of the current-time draft because they were rich

  • the people who dislike are from vietnam

  • @mafiaman500 im from vietnam and i like it D:<

  • I want to go to war agianst the freemasons and have this playing in my mind meanwhile

  • HI FRIEND PLEASE CHECK MY VIDEO,RATE WITH HAND UP PLEASE XD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • said it b4, say it again, fuck black ops

  • this song is about the average joe who doesnt want to fight in the war and has no way of gettin out of the draft.

  • I imagine myself flying on a helicopter and lookin acreoss the sky watching other helicopters

  • Who knows what evil lurks in the minds of the men/women we elected to hopefully help make our lives a little better ? Shit, I don`t even always believe some of the things I think, say or do. But music does help soothe the savage beast in me.

  • Thought this was about music but what the hell, I`ll put my 2 cents in. Im 59 yrs old, raised saying the "pledge of alligance", believed america was right & the best. Then looked up definitions of capitalism, communism, socialism and unless ur wealthy, privilaged, own tons of Du Pont stock or brain washed a person would be a fool to think americas way is best. I worked & paid into SSI almost 40 yrs now they stopped my disability ins. benefits over a ever changing "rule" . FUK america.

  • @coltkitt Thanks for saying you bit, man, I really appreciate debate.

I personally haven't found any way, whether it be Marxism, Capitalism or whatever, that I can truly say is right. It's good to look at what the Capitalist states are really doing to the world and how they try to claim that their way is right. For example, the intervention in Libya is a perfect example of Capitalists working from their own agenda and trying to tell the people that they are defending liberty.

  • @generallyafailure123 Thanks for your insight and candor. I certainly agree w/u as to which system is truly right or best. Ponder this from Aldous Huxley " No country can be really well prepared for modern war unless it is governed by a tyrant, at the head of a highly trained and perfectly obedient bureaucracy." It seems to me that every good idea, good new govt, good new invention ultimately gets prostituted by mans greed, fears, pride, ignorance etc. Bummer huh ?.

  • US maybe incrased control in Germany & pacific... and what? But communists ruined whole east europe. All those countries lived in hell while russians "owned" them. Thats why south vietnam never wanted to be one of russian communist puppet and asked NATO to help when North vietnam began attack them. The war was hell for US soldiers and the result was south vietnam became part of one big inferno called "CCCP". If you think communists are good then tell me why half vietnamese live in europe. ;-)

  • @TheNightmare36 You misunderstand me. I'm not saying that Communism is good. I'm merely trying to challenge the common misconception that "America is right, Russia was wrong".

Of course, the question I have is whether it is better for a country to be a Communist puppet or an American/Capitalist one.

War is hell for all concerned, not just one side.

Communism as a theory is a society of perfection, of wholeness, whereas capitalism immediately accepts that money is more important than human lives.

  • @generallyafailure123 Yes you are right. Communist theory is not too bad, but im angry on them for that what they did in europe and HOW they did it. Keep domination over countries by army is not right way and kill people who dont like communists is not right way too... Those are differences between communist theory & facts wich forced many people to hate communism and russia.

  • @TheNightmare36 you are right about communism in theory is good. however, in reality it wont work because the human race on a whole is a very dominant species and some people are always going to want to rule over others or make themselves 'better' forcefully.

  • They tried to put rockets in Cuba because they were invited to by the Cubans. Note that the CIA had recently attempted an invasion simply because Cuba had Communist sympathies.

Don't be fooled into thinking that the Communists were the only people expanding. The US were certainly taking advantage of the death of the European Empires with their own expansion (increased control in the Pacific, Germany etc.)

  • Its a song that still holds truth to all poeple and governments on this planet

  • 14 people never lived vietnam got to like it

  • whenever I hear this song, I imagine me sitting in a chopper with the minigun, just waitin' to spray around with bullets all around me!

  • I've watched a lot of war movies but I never quite understood what the Americans were doing there...

  • @SmiLka7aAa we didnt want communism. we did it for the freedom of the people but so much was unknown about vietnam that it was hell for our soldiers

  • @frenchyisbeast

And hell for the North Vietnamese soldiers too.

Strange how people forget about them.

  • @SmiLka7aAa North vietnam wanted to take south vietnam under their communist control and started attack them (vietcong terrorists). But south vietnam was in Nato so USA came to help them. There was not only us army, but australia, new zealand... etc. Just for help them. Communists started this war.... Fucking communists.

  • @TheNightmare36

Ah. Fuck the Communists who spent most of the later half of the 20th Century trying to make peace with the US who were pursuing an unchecked campaign of expansion and calling it 'liberty'.

During the Cold War the Russian communists made about 100 offers to completely disarm their armed forces if the US would do the same. The US refused and didn't make a single arms-limiting offer in return.

    Yeah. So 'fuck the US'.

  • @generallyafailure123

The only reason why Russia wanted to stop arming was they had no money. The Cold War started Communists ruining half of europe & asia and placing rockets on Cuba.... ;-)

  • da is tenminste muziek se manne

  • Vietnam was a lie perpetrated on the American p[uble by the Military Industrial Complex. The same corporate war hounds that are perpetuating the war on terror . It is a dam shame Americans are the world's most self absorbed apathetic people....

  • @erikinhawaii

"It is a dam shame Americans are the world's most self absorbed apathetic people" Canada is north and Mexico is south. Get walkin then.

  • @jtravis282 bags are packed ! Adios amigo !

  • Whenever I hear this song, I imagine being dropped off by a heli, haha

  • Australia loves America.

    We are great allies.

    50,000 dead soldiers in Vietnam.

    Thats the US count.

Australian dead, that's DEAD, count about 500.

Five Hundred Dead young men, sent into a war by a Liberal Prime Minister of Australia that lied to his own Parliament to please the Foreign Policy of the US.

    That was in about 1964.

In 2003 another Liberal Prime Minister of Australia lied to his people and his troops and sent young men into battle to be killed to uphold the US-Australian Alliance.

  • @lonsktube 500, you know, that's a pretty good amount compared to 50,000. It's even worse to think that those 50,500 died to promote peace in the world, huh?

  • i think of live free or die hard when i hear this song.

  • probably the best rock of all time I mean I'm a doors fan but damn. this is hard I think I have to think about that one for another 10 yrs

  • Before my time, but I know I had 3400miles on my Mustang bike,I wanted so bad but Mom would'nt let me go.

  • This song spells George W too the TEE. They should of suprised him andd played this during his inauguration. I quess his dad and the secreet service would not allow it ?

  • @frank02111 George is more patriotic than Barry every could be. By the way, how's that change working for ya?

  • @frank02111 George is more patriotic?...he was MIA while he was serving. There are also other forms of patriotism besides serving your country. Such as working for the comminity. Obama is 20X the patriot Bush or Cheney, or any of the other Republican candidates could ever hope to be.

  • @kestkr Right. And what are you smoking? Barry attended a church were the good Rev Wright excoriated this country. Barry was photographed bowing to the Saudi King. Barry was photographed along with other Dummycrat candidates WITHOUT his hand on his heart during the pledge. Tell me again how's that change working for ya?

  • swamp dragon screem LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gr8 song. always come by this in war movies somehow :D

  • living near DC, i see a TON of homeless people and they are almost always Nam Vets. Clearly casualties where not the only negative effect of that war. The Government did nothing to help those people and they are still not doing enough. Soldier come back every day with PSTD, and no one does anything to help them.

All you pro-war people should stop telling people to support our troops, I don't see any of you opening homeless shelters.

  • BATTLEFIELD VIETNAM :D :D

  • if you ask me they were just a load of pot heads, which i think is awesome.

  • The vietnam war was a war it wasn't good but honor the men who fought. they just follow orders. they just tried to help.

  • One of the greatests rock songs ever

  • war war whos keeping score?

i dont know jack we're just countin money as the B52 s soar - noone of you get the point, there were minimal politics driving Vietnam at most - it was just the simplest surest way to give the US economy a massive boost - i'm being very simplistic here but ultimately thats what it was and all it still is - and i am not saying those that fought were in it for money or trying to be disrespectful of those folks at all - everyone has there own valid reasons i'm sure.

  • Damn good video! I like how you made this both very entertaining and informational.

  • we wnrnt in to vetnam to stop the spred of consinum but you had thoes stuped hippys in the way in that point in time

  • @peterbuilt787 what the hell is consinum? Those stupid hippies probably spelled better than you.

  • This song coincides with my last post of the last Vietnam era take off and dust off.. And we gotta Love the Vietnam Vets and all of their battles on and off their fields, just as

as much as we have to love our own present day era vets coming home from our present day battle fields. We Love you all!!

  • My favourite CCR track!

  • my oldman volunteered for nam and hes from ireland lol . alot of shit is misunderstood but fuck no war should really happen end of story but it does......

  • @dec21000 unfortunately war is natural to man he is warlike by nature, peace is only maintaned through artificial means I.e, Law

  • that's not what this song is about. it's about the Al Gore's and George Bush's of the world. BRAVO John!!!

  • interesting this video quotes generals and assumes fact- the real fact is, only trust generals as far as you can throw them.

  • iammishahearmeroar - You fail to see the point that the soldiers in Vietnam were NOT terrorists. half were drafted and forced to go. and it was to help southern Vietnam and liberate it from a potentially dangerous leader. Do some research please and thank you. Not to mention how stressing the Vietnam war was.

  • @ninjabear93 Diem was a dangerous leader as well.

  • Those guys are Legends of Rock!!!!!

  • Evergreen!

  • This is very helpful, I'm having trouble find different resources that cause effect towards a certain amount of people. I'm a govt/cj double major with an emphasis on international policies and this helps and helped make people understand that, it is a privelage that we are able to help people abroad, not a right. Good Job, hope you got an A.

  • la même 35 ans avant, en pleine guerre du vietnamm!!!!!,

  • dude, awesome video and good concept....but whats with quoting Nixon? I mean, bullshit is all the man had to give besides death.......just a thought

  • @greenrok44

Perceptions about Nixon are more distorted than those about the Vietnam War. Had it not been for Watergate, he would have gone down as one of the 10 best presidents in U.S. history. And the Watergate scandal that brought him down - he knew nothing about it until well after the fact. What brought him down was his joining in the cover-up. If one is a flaming liberal, Nixon could do nothing right, and if one is far-right, Obama can't either. The truth perhaps lies in the middle.

  • u can choose witch war u want and always is it the same shit

  • who are you 14 people? this is the original CCR, arguably the greatest american rock band ever and one of the best in the histroy of rock and roll

  • lol im a pretty fast reader and i couldnt make a few of those without rewinding

  • I LUV THIS SONG!!!!!

  • Gloria al ejército de Colombia, líder en la lucha anti-terrorista. Viva Colombia!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • US ! "salutes" !

  • Legends Of Great Music!!

  • This song is as strong now as it was then.

  • in the late 1950s south vietnam had pushed-out the french, refused to go along with US 'free trade' fraud, opposed US military bases, and the vietnamese countryside had successful campaigns of voter registration, literacy campaigns, women's and farmers' rights. and the US did what it always does: started firebombing villages, murdering and assassinating community activists, and placed military strongmen in power.

  • YOU'RE AN IDIOT.

  • Thank you.

  • Sorry for the thumbs down ......my mistake.

  • communism was the most fucked up thing in the world, many say that Hitler was bad-BUT Stalin Was the worst!!! in Russia 20 000 000 people died Before the WWII!

but that was just in the Russia

  • Communism is no worse then any other form of government it's the people who enforce it that are dangerous, look at America for instance we're considered Democracy but hell its getting worse every day and it will continue to get worse because people would rather live in ignorance and contentment then be aware of the fact that they are being taken advantage of.

  • Here, here!

  • I lived through it (not in it) and learned something today. Hope you did well in the course.

  • Great video!

  • good!!!!!!!!

    song good.

  • good point

  • Unlike many other high profile celebrities at the time CCR denounced the war but at least recognised that the troops were not to blame.

  • the vietnam war was terrible. they had every right to defend their homeland.

  • Actually the north part of Vietnam (they were communists) were invading the south part of vietnam. The U.S. sent in troops to aid the French and to stop the spread of communism.

  • Yes, they invaded there own country, wonder why....?

  • All I was trying to say is that the U.S. didn't just brutally invande the country. jfrey0725 seems to think it happened that way, or at least that's what his comment implies.

  • Why did you dub over the live version with the studio version? The live version of this performance is ace.

  • If they had sent my fire team in, the American Flag would be flying over Hanoi right now ...

  • In order to be the best, you have to think you are the best. You then have to push yourself to be the best and to prove it

  • If you will not acknowledge my fire-team as the best, you WILL die like the REST ...

  • That attitude allows things to be accomplished and the ones that arent the best but just think they are to die off, leaving room for the ones that are.

  • You guys fail to see the point that the people who liberated the US in the first place can be called Terrorists. You fail to see the point that the Soldiers in Vietnam could be called Terrorists, as they invaded a country with no proclamation, and inherently liberated it for their own purposes. Noone's perfect, so there's no reason to take sides, or you're going to be arguing all day.

  • hey man leave the soldiers alone dont blame them blame the fucks who sent them there there only doing there jobs

  • @iammishahearmeroar Good points.

  • @iammishahearmeroar im sure they had a good reason for invading Vietnam they don't give orders like that for no reason

  • @german6134 Good reasons for people, and good reasons for countries are two different things.

  • i aint no senators son
