I loved your video but have to agree with funnybones. However theres more than one way to skin a cat and as long as you like the taste yourself who am I etc. etc.
That's the best redneck roasting I've ever seen! Jeff Foxworthy would be proud. I'm gonna try to one-up this by roasting on my pick-up's exhaust manifold.
For you, you wouldn't have to wait for the characteristics to develop because you have burnt the tar out the beans. The sugars are scorched at that internal temp. Also, I agree with the previous member in saying you have to find a quicker method of cooling. Avoid using water at all costs! Set up like a pan with a fan under it that you can dump the beans into. Seeing a roast that was just dumped have a sheen to it makes me want to cry.
Sorry it took a while to reply. I don't hang out here often. The most I've roasted at once is 2 cups. This yields about 3.5-4 cups of roasted beans. For us, it's a week's supply of beans.

GENIOUS!!! I'm going to try this with my parents as soon as get home. They are serious coffee and BBQ buffs... this is just what they would like.

you might want to find a way to cool those beans down quicker so they don't continue to roast and hold in the heat after you've finished.
I'd suggest cutting a door into the side of that vegetable steaming pot. then take the scrap metal from the cut and hinge it too the opening.
That way you can lock it in place, and open it like a bingo machine to dump the beans out onto a cooling tray.

That's a super smart idea! The beans look great too! What's a most coffee you have roasted successfully that way on one roast?
