@very0bad0ducky never figured out how to get this to work with my Mac, also tried MyWi on a jailbroken iPhone and it was a no go.

As for the carrier question, I would just be careful or read the fine print on your contract , they monitor data usage and some have a threshold they cut you off or charge extra even tho you have a unlimited data plan

@ryan2714 i have AT&T and i have a jail-broken iphone 4 it has unlimated data usage because ive had the line for a long time im grandfathered in you cannot get unlimited data anymore the max is 2 gigabytes and every gigabytes after that is $10 extra i want to tether my ps3 with my iphone but im not sure how

i have an htc desire and use it as a wireless hotspot and have been online and works perfectly,no pc or laptop required,jus turn on the wireless hot spot functiona nd my ps3 picks it up.So lesson here is get an htc desire,no complications

I was hoping that the Iphone wouldn't have to be connected to any source whatsoever except wirelessly to the ps3. So then you can bring your phone anywhere you want and connect it to a laptop somewhere outside with just the Iphones internet. You could get a T mobile sim card, get unlimited internet for the Iphone. All you would ever need would be a PS3, Laptop, and Tv and you wouldn't have to pay for TV license, Broadband also you could watch TV off the Laptop or BBC Iplayer on your PS3.

you should theoretically be able to do this in wi-fi mode as well provided you are successful in setting up an ad-hoc network like in  part 1 of my video.
