do you guys have a video showing what kind of maintenance you should do regularly to a slash 4x4 to keep it in as good of condition as possible. you should make one if not
@mattmanismyname It is personal preference either way. It's easier to drill the body out first because you can see through the lexan better/easier. Plus if you cut it out first you don't risk scratching and nicking the paint.
Hello there, can you help me, what is the first thing to do in painting rc lexan body shells, first put paint, cut the body, and make holes or first cut the body, makes holes, and put paint, can you help give some advice, thank you and more power.
@magnosd8 I've gotten into the habit of cutting the body out and putting the body post holes in before painting. This way I don't accidentally chip or scratch the paint off.
Watch the video about using DOT 4 to remove the paint it will work on bodies that are painted by someone else I have not tried using it on the original body that came with it but anything is worth a shot but DON'T BUFF THE PAINT OUT you will screw it all up watch the videos from Ultimate RC first
can i also state to my fellow rc modelers, to avoid using automotive or decoraters making tape, use a good quility one for lexan bodies, and that some rc hobby makers do precut masks to such as parma & xxx main. .
let's say you wanna paint your pre painted body would you just sand down the paint off the car and then paint it with your own color or something else? please help thanks!
There's not much you can do to "repaint" a pre-painted body except for paining it on the outside itself. The paints bond to the Lexan itself which is why you can't just remove it.
ok im thinking of painting a body for my traxxas rustler but i dont understand what u did on the first body you had the tape lined up to spray it all blue and under the tape would be white, but when you paint it white how does it not mess up the blue?
Thought I replied to this but there must have been an issue with YouTube. Ok, when painting you always start with your darkest colors and go progressively lighter. This way the lighter colors don't bleed through the darker ones. You can also back up darker colors with either white or silver paint too. Depending on how you back the colors up CAN affect the color tones. I know when I use Florescents or metal flakes I get differences if I back it with Pactra Indy Silver or Sprint White.
Think of it almost like a drill bit. However instead of multiple cutting surfaces and coils like the drill bit a Reamer has 2 cutting edges. For making body post holes or antenna holes they're awesome.

im gonna be repainting an rc boat, its just plastic, i dont think its Lexine, can i use any spray paint on that
zotter7 9 months ago
@zotter7 I would make sure of the hull material before painting anything. Are you sure it's ABS plastic? Is it fiberglass possibly?

@HorizonRCdotCom its the Balaenoptera Musculus Radio Remote Control Racing Boat

Do you paint it first or do you cut the body out and drill the body post holes first?

does the blue shells paint the same way as a clear?
shobu7777 1 year ago
@shobu7777 I don't understand what you're asking, sorry.
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
@HorizonRCdotCom i think hes talking about the clear that comes on some bodies. my j concepts has a blueish tint to the clear on the outside

wut if my shell is already painted on the inside? how do i get it off?
walbe3ck32 1 year ago
@walbe3ck32 You can't. The pain bonds to the Lexan at a molecular level.
HorizonRCdotCom 1 year ago
can you paint over the original shell your rc came with?

what if I buff the paint it should come off easily shouldn't it ?
BimmerFreakE39 2 years ago
That's just it. When you remove the paint you remove some of the Lexan itself.

how do i get it not to shine then?
thatcoolmovieshow 2 years ago
if you don't want that shine should i paint the out side?
thatcoolmovieshow 2 years ago
I wouldn't. If you paint the outside the paint can be chipped off very easily.
