Basically, I can see his concern. Malta's defense, along with other European countries, economically & socially, is paramount in defending the cultural concepts which gave way to man's greatest culture-generating activities, culture being the prime motivator behind evolutions demanded innovation.
Malta is a Southern European paradise that is quickly becoming contaminated by the surplus retail economics which are consuming the world.
Imagine blocks of Dollar-store's on a beautiful island which has a deep European bondage in areas of culture & politics.
Strategically crucial, the once great splendor of European culture is being ravaged by what I can only call ' Surplus Imperialism ' which is the economic arm of monoculture.
