  • Sometimes I'm dreaming!!!!! Sounds like me!!!!

  • @azzleeka It is about the demise, english public school system, as If Lindsay Anderson film fall of Indian subcontinebt empire of 1947 after the expense of WW2, and the complications. Gladly, I am seeing those schools now grow up in Britain to be like us - no need to go to a catholic school near Worlinghham to clean the windows, for shameful pupils raising their dresses without knickers to hide themselves.

Think Britain is growing up slowly, as per this song, via Austria,

  • Awful video, looks like the beginning of a pedophile porn flick

  • @azzleeka If that link doesn't work for you, search you tube "Austra lose you", that should get you there.

  • FUCK VEVO AND ITS STUPID AD

  • just incredible !

  • anyone read the book this song is based on? I did a few years ago and it's fantastic, highly recommended :)

  • @sparklelilz Yes its a great book. I hunted it out du to this song. It would make a good film.

  • Wow so sad it is siply butyfull

  • I get it and Live it

  • Charlotte Sometimes is a children's novel by British writer Penelope Farmer, published in 1969 by Chatto & Windus in the UK, and by Harcourt in the USA. It is the third and best known of three books featuring the Makepeace sisters, Charlotte and Emma,[1] and inspired the song "Charlotte Sometimes"[2] by English rock band The Cure.

  • Robert Smith was inspired by Penelop Farmer's novel.

  • Robert Smith is one of the best songwritter of the 80's. I love these melancholic pop songs!!

  • School was way spookier in the 80s.

  • Amazing! Such a pitty is not often played

..and i also think it has a Donnie Darko feeling...or is it just me?

  • The Cure is the best !!!

  • this is my crazy day to day.. I love this song !!!!

  • the bass remind me strange days.

  • The video was recorded in Hogwarts.

  • So great. So creative. I can't believe how much great music The Cure have given us. And then came "Friday I'm in Love". Time to apply for a job at the bank, Robert ;-)

  • from now and on i am in love with charlotte sometimes!

  • Smith, Gilmour & Waters, Curtis etc, are brilliant

  • Anyone know who the girl is? She's lovely.

  • @thriddoctor I don't know her but she's perfect for this song !

  • @thriddoctor Yup. Her name's Enid Bagg (nee Skrunk) and she runs a hairdressing Salon in Cleckheaton. She's in her mid 40s now and gone to seed a bit after firing out 5 kids...but she still crimps whats left of her hair and makes an effort when she goes to Bingo every other Thursday. If you feel like yer in with a chance....go fer it :-)

  • meravigliosa...

  • so beautifully haunting...

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • beatiful SONG.. beatiful GIRL !!

  • @sapolioyfanta And very beautiful lyrics *-* And very cool video <3

  • best the cure song,in my opinion.masterpiece.thank you mr. Smith.

  • VEVO sound really SUCKS!!!!!!!

  • Oh... this is the perfect music video! This like the She's in parties (Bauhaus) so I love this too. <3

  • It seems Mr. smith smoke a lot of green in this video; this video is another masterpiece from the king of psychedelic goth; his videos were probably the best of the 80's; I also like a lot the videos of Ultravox; Sometimes England can be such a beautiful, mysteryous and interesting place to go... I say sometimes because, in general, this world smells bad

  • @BlackSkyThunder Tim Pope directed most of the Cures vids. This was actually filmed in an old mental institution dressed up to look like a school

  • didnt robert smith look so young.......god i used to love them when i was young !!!!!! wow cant beat the cure and no cover songs unlike today.......

  • darioargentish video

  • Charlotte Sometimes is one of my favourite songs. It's really good. I just love it!

  • the dark and beautiful corners of the soul. i know Smith didnt like The Cure being referred to as goth but, to me at least, this song IS the 'gothic' spirituality.

  • WOW I WOULD LET ROBERT AND THAT GIRL RAPE ME IN MY FACE !!!!!

  • I first discovered this song because of my english lit module which focuses on the book this songs based on, I'm now hooked on this song.

  • @CrazyPilf lol, good god i think I did the same book last year D:

  • @CrazyPilf I'm hooked on this song as well as a number of other songs The Cure wrote. I haven't read the book though. I only know this song [and most of the other Cure songs I know] because my dad gave me his two Cure CDs to listen to.

  • who is this david guetta guy that they are advertising for? never heard of him... am I getting old?

  • @Svea69

    Not Old, just intelligent !

  • For me, this is the best song of The Cure.

  • @luismendeze Almost agree.

  • is that a young miss cosgrove from 'born and bred'

  • Wow, a girl in a music video that isn't in a bikini or dancing provocatively! Oh it's from 1981? That'll be why.

  • @xMadelienex close to become the new best comment, thumbs up for u!

  • @xMadelienex Back when the world had class.

  • Comment removed

  • @xMadelienex she doesn't even have huge boobs!

  • @xMadelienex No you're wrong, I've got the adult version where "charlotte" gets DP'D by robert and the drummer.

  • @xMadelienex actually that's how it is because this is a The Cure music video, not David Guetta and the other crap....

  • @xMadelienex exactly! and she is much more beautiful than these sluts!

  • @xMadelienex

Oh cmon lets be fair; it's the genre.. U wont find naked sluts in Radiohead vids, or in White Lies

  • @novembrine1 On the other hand, you'll never listen to either White Lies playing a song like this, or bloody Radiohead-I'm sorry, but the truth is- Thom Yorke is a poser and a pain in the arse.

  • look at robert :( MARRY ME

  • I don't think The Cure can be placed under any particular music genre. That's one of the greatest things about this band, is that they have different pieces of music that can appeal to different people. They aren't restrained by a particular style.

    They are simply, The Cure.

And I will always love them for that.

  • You don't have to be a goth to love the cure.....

  • @RadicalZombieRhys ... and also to enjoy good and interesting music, basically. The Cure has always been about anti-categorisation, anyway.

  • @ajittffcure exactly

  • I AM NOT GOTH BUT LOVE THE CURE AND NEW WAVE MUSIC

  • this is so gothic

  • Wanted to call my daughter Charlotte, after this song, but my wife wouldn't let me - damn her lol

  • @iansmithphotos change wife!

  • How is it possible for this song, even after all these years to sound even better? Good music IS like fine wine.

  • the girl kinda looks like Winona Ryder...and I'm drooling over Robert and Simon here...

  • @neonimages i thought that was her, but in imdb there is no place where it says that she was in this video, besides, there are several the cure forums, where it says that she is not her :(

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THE GIRL IN THIS VIDEO? IS SO FUCKING HARD TO GOOGLE IT, I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR LIKE HALF AN HOUR, PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME!!!

  • @farishtaleal I found her for you!!!! her name is Tracey Childs

  • Probobly their best song and it's a B-side!

  • @honeypower No, it isn't. Charlotte Sometimes is singles a side...b side is Descent.

  • @buddhaboy1972 I could be wrong.............but I thought Descent was the B-side to Primary :-)

  • @mywheelchairone69 you are right.

    7" Single

    1."Charlotte Sometimes"

    2."Splintered in Her Head"

  • The 80's music at its best. The song and the video are beautiful, mesmerizing, somewhat melancholic and strange...So much atmosphere!

  • brilliant..

  • one of the bestEST song ever!

  • Gielarius: The song is inspired by the children's book "Charlotte Sometimes" by Penelope Farmer. It's about a girl called Charlotte who goes away to boarding school in the 1960s but time-travels at night, changing places with a girl called Clare who was the same school in 1918.

  • Best song of The Cure!

  • I have actually no clue what this song is about, although I'm very curious to know it!

Anyone has any idea? Amazing song by the way, there's so much feeling in it.

  • Sometimes i dream... Robert you wonderful critter, sometimes i dream about you!

  • best song of the cure

  • I had a look, and it appears Charlotte was played by the actress Tracey Childs. The video was filmed at Holloway Sanitorium, a former asylum near the town of Virginia Water, Surrey, England.

  • Robert has said himself this is "the most perfect pop song". It's still absolutely true all these years later.

  • Sometimes I'm dreaming/ like all the other people does...

  • Why does everybody hate Vevo??

  • @josueamericanistarv Adverts of course...
