thanks for showing how to make a strop however everyone's sharpening at this fine tune stage/honing; never pull back against sharp edge always away. Dont really matter on the angle because leather is so fine that it's not really gonna hurt the blade but shine it and shave miroscopic burr away; pending where you strop. If you do like knives like I do. I like to see another of your video. We all learn fresh sometimes, it's alright.
I am a wood carver. I have 20+ knives. This lady does not know how to sharpen a knife properly. She is rounding over the sharp edge the way she works the knife on the strop.
Just what I needed - did a Google search, came up with your video on YouTube and voila! Perfect. Thanks so much for a straightforward instructional video. Gotta go make mine now...

One wonders if the same type of strop would work for a straight razor (for shaving)
Mnementh2230 2 years ago
I prefer the soft back strops that are sold for straight razor use, but yes, a hard backed strop such as this will work.
You should never use rubbing compound on a straight razor though, as it's too aggressive and can do as much harm as good to such a fine edge.

@Mnementh2230 Its perfect. Lots of barbers do it
