I am new to 'grown up' gardening (do lots of pots 'n' tubs in my garden at the mo) and i'd like to say that I love your enthusiasm for vegetable growing, it has really got me excited for my first venture into vegetable growing on a larger scale.. Thank you, you are an inspiration. :)

hahah in the store they are called large to extra large..i call them eggs. You are a champ! I love your enthusiasm and fantastic piece of land. You are an inspiration for me and something i work towards.
@ToyMaster83 Well if you keep collecting gold and silver, I'm betting you'll end up owning land. You have more sense and world awareness than I had.............have. lol
@Praxxus55712 It's funny you say that.. people always find things in others that they admire about them. I love your passion-- you're videos are always something I look forward to watching. You are one of my sources of information I use myself and pass onto others because I can see what you do and the logic you use. Its simple and works!. Nice!
Hey Ray! One of my chickens laid an egg just like that. Mine was all white with no yolk. How was your's? One of my friend's had a chicken that laid an egg similar, and was all yolk with no white. Oh well........I like your idea about the chicken farting it out! LOL
@PhotoKevin I couldn't handle seeing that micro egg in my fridge for long so I used it in a batch of oatmeal cookies 3 days ago with 2 regular eggs. It had yolk and white but the yolk was sorta darker and lighter in different spots and sorta broken.
@goneways I use about half compost and half peat moss and perlite. Pure compost seems to be a bit rich for seedlings. The peat moss mellows it down and the perlite keeps it light and airy.
What kind of tomato plants do you grow. Im growing forth of july tomato plants, beef steak tomato plants, cherry 100 hybrid, a mix dont really kn know, pumkin, cucumber, spinach, bell pepper, parsley and radish i grew a radish really early and i seen it and got excited and picked because i never grew radishes and it tasted like soil and numbed my tongue yuuk.
Mmm that must've been a good meal! Those are beautiful eggs! And OMG you're right! For a bird to lay an egg every day it's crazy!!!! No birds do that!
And aren't plants amazing!!!! Did you know their genes are way WAY more advanced than ours!
@mothmanifest I wait till the plant is at least a foot tall. If it's any shorter, it's really not very leggy or in need of pruning. Also at a foot tall, I cut off around half of it & that gives me a 6 inch cutting to transplant.
@janaswang Look for bags of composted manure. That's probably the best as far as quality balanced with price. Worm castings is really good but expensive.
Try a aeroponic system. I have brussel sprouts that are like 10x bigger than the ones grown in regular miracle gro top soil. Oh and btw, miracle gro is just crap for potting soil.
I just LOVE your videos! You had me laughing all the way through this one lol. Your tomato plants look SO good!! My indoor tomato plant was doing GREAT with your advice, until I woke up one morning and only found dirt in the pot. My dog ate the plant GONE UGH! So, I tried it again, with a different tomato plant, and I put it where the tomato eater couldn't get it. Well, she got it AGAIN cause I scolded the wrong dog UGH! I'm NOT giving up though..I WILL get a tomato to grow LOL.:-)
with all the snow we are getting I think my whole garden is going to be in the house this year. also, the gardening addiction has gotten worse. I have over 1000 plants 75 of them are tomatoe. My o My!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pls mister weather man bring us some sun.
Good video, but i have one question. What kind of compost do you use( manure, organic...ect) ? I seen most of your videos, including the one about the compost tea (which I am now using). I am going to be tilling my garden very soon, and I would like to add some mulch and compost to the dirt.
maybe that chicken is against people that only eat egg-whites and said I'll fix them, I'll lay a yolk with a shell on it. Try making an egg white omelet with that one. I think the guy that said it may have a pigmy chicken in it was onto something, I would throw it in the incubator and see what happens.
I had romas that I transplanted outside too early & a frost took'em out. I was gonna dig'em out xept I saw some green under the dirt as I dug. I might still start over b/c I wanna transplant them deep as they grow so that when I'm transplanting & toppin'em off, I'll be doing so 2a pack of bushy, stem-strong girls ;)
U can thank old ladies with hats, t-shirts, kitchenware, sundresses & sweatshirts, etc. w/sunflower print 4making me hate sunflowers, lol
I enjoyed the video. That little egg was funny - like God gave that chicken a break that day. Isn't is AMAZING that a chicken produces an egg a day like that? Like a full on firm shell large egg. That's amazing.
Kick ass plants you got there Ray, my sunflowers are about six feet tall and my tomatoes are sooo healthy and are out of control!! The composting technique I learned from your videos gave me a totally different perspective on growing food and can't thank you enough. Well have a great growing season and good luck on finding a house...peace and chicken grease.......................
The chicken that just doesn't care anymore?! LOL!!! I wonder if the egg wasn't for eating if it would produce a pygmy chick or something? Totally know it wouldn't, but it was a cool thought for that second or two. Yeah, ADD. I also LOVED to see the root growth of that Brandywine! Wish it was possible to send it, as a contest like a they do on here...you are the tomato whisperer. Love your vids!
it's a pullet egg! I'm not sure if I spelled that right but basically it's the smallest egg a chicken can lay probably came from a wee chicken.
qupia 5 months ago
I'm sure t does hurt for them to lay eggs... and in factory farms they drug the chickens up so they deliver as many eggs as possible. its disgusting.

@evam117 I use mostly composted chicken manure mixed with straw. It's very rich and perfect for gardening. Any compost will work really well though.
