Thank you Truecrypt for sharing all these treasures with us! Your videos first introduced me to Scriabin and Sofronitsky as well as many others a few years ago, and I still come back to listen at every chance I get.
i love sofronitsky! he has always many surprises in his play. i love his appassionated interpretations. his soul seemed to burn. truecrpt thank you so much! yours is the best chanel on youtube.
tell me please: did sofronitsky worked together with scrjabine?
What makes an interpretation really great? The sense of liberty, the illusion of playing as one were improvising on the spot: this Sofronitsky does as nobody else
Sofronitsky is the king of Scriabin!! - haven't heard V.S' op.8 recording til now. His performances always give me chills - beautiful tone, original interpretations(phrasing, tempo, dynamics, etc.) that draw you into his soundscape. Thanks truecrypt!
I've been wondering for a long time how Sofronitsky would play this piece. It's really one of the best Scriabin d# minor etudes I've ever heard, quite similar to Horowitz's earlier performances - his late
versions sadly sound skittery and out of
control, but his 1963 recording and this one of Sofronitsky's both convey the wild
abandon of the piece with massive sonorities and a rhythmic drive that is both impetuous and controlled. This is what Scriabin wanted - bravo!
sofronitsky -- listening to him in the heat of this playing -- makes one realize there was a pianist that combined the most electrifying characteristics of Horowitz and Richter -- all rolled into one..whew!
I thought Horowitz was master of etude No. 12. Boy was I wrong!!!

Sviatoslav Richter said it: "Sofronitsky was made for Scriabin and Scriabin for Sofronitsky."
Surely, Sofronitsky was Scriabin's greatest interpreter!
