Nothing... I just used it for a couple of shows with an 80's cover band and I didnt really need for anything else... I was thinking of using it in the studio but my plugins are just lightyears ahead from this. Its a good performance keyboard but for me, its not very good for studio work
that's hard... the M50 is very cheap... maybe a USED Roland XP-60 or JUNO-G... just depends on what you need... search everywhere (musiciansfriend, ebay, sweetwater..) read reviews and search youtube for video demos
I am trying to hook up my M50 to my DAW (sonar), but I heard to use the sounds in the synth I shouldn't use the USB connector. I am really confused. Do I hook it up through the 1/4th inputs on my audio I/O, and if I do will it become an audio track? If you could, please help.
Yes, you can hook it up by USB, so it works with the PlugIn software, use it as MIDI control and the 1/4 outs to your interface and it records as an audio track. I personaly didnt like the software
I recorded all the M50 Demo Videos, using my Macbook's camera, and the audio was going in from the M50 to a PreSonus Interface, and into QuickTime Pro... Its slightly out of sinc, but I guess it sounds better than most other demo videos here.
I could have recorded what I played on Logic, then move it to sinc with the video, but I didnt want to waste so much time, my purpose was to show the Sounds, so it being a little out of sinc didnt bother me.
@haakondale Yes. Great sounds! M50 has the same sound engine than M3 (EDS) just a little less polyphony and can't record samples into the m50. I suggest you go on a store and try it - you won't regret.
Nice chords.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a keyboard for Dream Theater-esque sounds?
rotor9494 1 year ago
@rotor9494 Depends on your budget, but from low to high:
KORG M50, KORG M3, KORG OASYS... and maybe one of the Kurzweil
