  • Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Strat or no Strat, I'd still like to have that Guild.

  • buddy's sound is freaking amazing! How could someone play so loud and amazingly aggressive such that 40 years on no one can even replicate it?

  • Muy Fantastique!

  • See: Os Velhos da Montanha

  • I REALLY liked Buddy's tone when he was playing that Guild. He sounded so much rawer then. Since he started playing the Strat he sounds more subdued. Still awsome, just more subdued.

  • @Paulsworks ive got that same guitar! my dads since he was 8

  • @Paulsworks yes but they dont make electric guilds no more

  • @teebeeferris I'm afraid Buddy was using a two-tone brownburst, maple neck, long before the Guild.....straight into a Bassman, no effects. This set-up would be just as effective today regardless of the musicians colour.

  • Buddy was using strats as far back as the 1960s. We all know the sound of humbuckers, but those of use who really play from Hendrix and Blackmore to SRV Ray and Yngwie - and never get the real living master Jeff Beck - the Strat is a magical instrument. Maybe the thinner tone lets more of what come from out fingers get through to the people.

  • Regarding Old vs. New Buddy Guy......His latest Album "Skin Deep" is amazing, amazing guitar playing up and down, slow, fast........mid 70's and cranking

  • I also love his early recordings. His tone cut through like nobody elses.

  • Simply amazing. I'm pretty sure the guy sitting down with the guitar off to the side is Son House.

  • he knows excactly what hes doing

  • every time buddy pics up a guitar it is awesome. the best part about buddy is the diversity of his catalog. from acoustic all the way to buddy baddest all ways keeps me coming back for more. can't wait till feb 18 two legends one show buddy and B.B.

  • what are you guys talking about he's still RAW! Alive and breathing and ready to rip your face off with one note! Go see him live and you'll see.

  • Don't knock him around 70, neither.... Fuck, that's hot stuff.

  • I agree with teebeeferris, my favorite Buddy Guy recordings are from 1957-1970. I have been uploading some of these recordings, so please check them out!

  • vintage buddy! awesome footage

  • I strongly agree. I've always thought there were two Buddy Guys. An "early" and a "Late". He was a different man playing that Guild. Raw and exciting. Not bad now either. I don't know where you've gotten all of these videos Teebee, but I find myself liking ALOT of your postings. We must be musically related somehow. Keep up the GOOD work.

  • This song is called Let Me Love You Baby from his early Chess 45 Rpm recordings. Awesome footage. Thank you

  • whats the name of this song? anybody

  • I think a guitarsit can whatever guitar he likes... Whatever feels and sounds right is the guitar for you!!! and play like a white boy? What does a white boy play like?

  • @yungdub27 ..;sure not like Bob Margolin, who is an old white boy. Buddy do what he can to survive.

  • @yungdub27 a white boy play whit no soul and flavor get confused and tink fast its funky and end up makin noise

  • Oh my GOD!!!!!!!!

  • He's so creative with a Guild Starfire IV.

I wish he'd lose them Strats and really start PLAYING AGAIN.

    BE BUDDY GUY Buddy.

  • i really love this song .)

  • Man this is as good as it gets!!!!! I'd never seen This..

tanx TeeBee Love that Guild damitt!!

  • wow this video is something else son house who played and knew robert johnson watching a young buddy guy ripping out a new kind of blues

and now its old and son house's music is even older

it really is a very special thing to watch

  • not sure,,,I am no expert, but you just got to check out Johnny Guitar Watson from like, 1953/54....3 hours past midnight album, and a few more from the early days....he was as cutting edge on the ripping and just flat out balls to the wall blues that we love today! I am learning this tune tonight after watching this video. Man, this is smokin!!!!

  • WOW...what a (buddy) Guy;-)

  • cool

  • Look at 3:00 minutes.. I love how Son House is just jammin`along as well.

  • Is it just me, or does his tone sound better playing that guitar than the strat that he plays. Not that his strat tone is bad, this one is just...nice.

  • I agree, while his licks are hot he gets a really thin tone with the Strat.

  • It's just like Eric Clapton in his Beano/Cream days...He used a Gibson and a Marshall, and then when he went to strats, his tone got a little thinner too. It's funny. I mean, these guys(Eric and Buddy) can do whatever they want. :) It's just that to me, their tone sounded pretty godly with good humbucker-type guitars. S'all in the fingas, though. :)

  • Is it my imagination or did not Buddy Guy invent "ripping"!?!? No accident that tops the influence lists for both Hendrix and Clapton.

  • @michaeljamsmith

    Nope, Buddy definitely invented "ripping"

  • buddy guy probably has the best technique of any bluesman

  • Excellent!!! Thank you for sharing:)

    Grandma Mary

  • Buddy and Otis Rush are the baddest Blues guitarist ever.

  • I think they are very good actually :P

  • He is the best of all-time!

  • Thanks for posting!

  • 5 minutes to live*....a long needed amendment.

  • Wow is right, I had never seen this one before. Nice find. I hope anyone crtitical of Buddy since fame, grammys, etc watch some of this old stuff. He's still hot (past 70 now, good gawd)and I love him. This era though is like watching Ruth/Mays/Unitas/Montana in their prime- something to truly behold. I love the clip of Hendrix watching him play... Buddy is one of the most significant musical links not of just generations but complete eras.

  • I agree totally blueslover97...i,d never seen that particular clip either. Saw Buddy this Summer at jazzFest

What a show!!!! Great tone with that Guild though..

  • That is Son House and I'll tell ya how cool this actually is. This is Buddy's FIRST tv appearance EVER!

  • What a gem this really is.

Buddy really did play the blues like he had 5 minutes live.

  • Wow! Great stuff, according to hairstyle and Guild guitar - I beleive it must be 1967...not 63. But who cares, it`s just fantastic to watch theese old footages of Buddy. Knut

  • man buddy seem possessed!!! the eyes are wild and crazy..that voice comes from far within...intense

  • is that skip james or son house in the beginning of the video?

  • Son House !!! Ill see if i can get it on there too really strong stuff from son !!

  • cool!! I love son house...especially his famous death letter blues always gives me the creeps!!!

  • This is by far the best Buddy Guy clip i've seen. This was when he was scorching hot!

  • This is the blues I'm talkin bout. Mind blowing`` ***

  • wow teebee, this is totally the shit, thank you! never heard of 'Camera 3', a local show from Chicago?

  • Wow, thats intense! Thanks a lot!

  • Great vid.

  • Great footage teebee - I love the old Buddy when he played clean. He gets a bit too distorted these days for my taste.
