  • All I can say is that it really "takes two to tango." :)

  • I am glad you liked it. I works for me too.

  • gay or not, this video is fuckin hot.

  • For God's sake, just watch the dancing - it really is that simple! Why make an pseudo-intellectual argument out of everything?

  • These guys are terrific.

  • That was a spectacular tango! I am a big fan of Claudio Gonzalez and Melina Brufman and I was wondering if one of the chaps is Claudio? If it is, it is so great to see him be so versatile and amazing and very powerful in his stance. Well done!

  • The answer is simple; there exists no ''Gay'' Tango; and it exists no ''Straight'' one either - there is simply "Tango" its a dance and a very beautiful one at that, its not meant for any single culture but for all of them - what I think people mean is that Tango is one of the few dances which can be danced successfully and still retain its beauty even when performed by two men, or two women for that matter. While other dances requires the dance to be performed by a man and a woman.

  • @Njilin The correct answer is there are gay dances. If you saw two men waltzing I have no doubt you would consider it gay. Actually no dance "requires to be performed by a man and a woman". Two men can do any couples dance and I deeply love to watch them dancing together. You only expose your anti gay attitudes. Nothing but bigotry

  • @gregorymcdpachsa I'm homosexual myself so calling me a bigot would be very pointless and hardly true at all. Two men dancing the waltz could go very well; there are however dances who I think is best performed between a man and a woman. This isn't bigotry as I never say that Gays shouldn't be allowed to dance and I would infact love to dance the Waltz with my future husband or well any of my partners in general. All dances can be danced between two men.

  • @gregorymcdpachsa Samba for example is a dance that while it can look good between men would only really be concidered perfect if done by a man and a woman this is due to the fact that in Samba the man works as a medium while the woman does the majority of the dancing, the actual rhytm is fine-tuned to the womans movements in that it is a alot of hip-movement involved, a womans hips is more well-suited for that than that of a man. Men don't really have hips and as such we can't match the dance.

  • @Njilin Though in Samba, there are certain versions who work splendidly between men and those do look excellent when performed between two men and similarily they appear incomplete when danced between a man and a woman. It isn't bigotry, but simply how the dance is constructed and what elements it requires from the dancers. There are many versions of the most popular dances afters all.

  • @Njilin Being gay does not stop a person from being anti gay. I have known many gay men who were totally against all political progress made by gays. One's vision of what looks good in dance is deeply altered by their attitudes. I once was singing with a gay chorus. We had a group of dancers performing with us for a love song. To my shock, it was a male/female couple. I was told it just "works" better. No it doesn't. That is just want we are used to seeing.

  • @gregorymcdpachsa I feel the same way about that, though my dream is to see same-sex couples dancing in unity with male and female ones, because I don't want formal settings with JUST Same-sex couples dancing as that would pretty much serve to distance us from society as opposed to being integrated in it like we ought to. I love same-sex couples dancing just as much as you do the only thing I don't like is that many customes worn by gay dancers look so darn feminine!

  • @Njilin I strongly felt that male/female couples had more than enough exposure and it was time for a male couple to express their love for each other through dance. Please don't confuse what is commonly seen with what is better. Seeing men dancing together is a great joy. I want to see it expand into many dance styles. One dream of mine is to have a ball in a beautiful formal setting with all same sex couples dancing. I wish you well.

  • IGNORANTES!

  • @manueldiazmd Dear Stupid Presumptuous Stranger, I am fully aware that the tango started as a dance between men. You are an ignorant fool to presume my lack of knowledge on this point and to presume that all of the men dancing together were heterosexual. Your bigoted attempt to hide and ignore the creative contributions of homosexual people in our history and in society today is probably an attempt to conceal your own homosexual feelings. Why did you visit this site?

  • @manueldiazmd Did you find the men dancing together stimulating? I think the dumbest comment that you made was that it was not considered respectable for men to dance with women as it was a possible inducement to lust. You add that this dancing between men took place in brothels. They are in brothels!! Do you think there is a concern for respectability there!! Do you think they wanted to avoid inducement to lust in a brothel?? Do you think?

  • @manueldiazmd I do thank you for your comments. It gave me the biggest laugh of the day.

  • @gregorymcdpachsa Si te da risa, lo siento. A mi me gusta comentar... ;) A buen entendedor, pocas palabras.

  • this looks a bit like an Argentine tango...

but wow, they really danced a beautiful tango

  • Wow! Very impressive.

  • All those sitting watchng on the sidelines look a little bored, is that allowed in gay culture?

  • @MegaGayjesus Actually no one was bored at all. The camera only shows blurred faces. I wish I had recorded the huge applause that followed the dance.

  • Is there something I don't get about these two guys and their moves that differentiates their tango from "hetero tango"? I am afraid I don't get why you call it gay, apart from the fact that the dancers are a bit effeminate (mostly the one with short hair), but even if they were gay that doesn't make theirs a gay dance. Anyway, not the best tango (hetero or gay or wtf) I've seen. Immigrants didn't leave because they were gay, that's absolutely crap and misleading culture.

  • @giadita Immigrates left their countries for many reasons. Certainly the Old World was not a comfortable place for gay people. In fact, a great many gay people did immigrate. It still happens today. Your resorting to vulgarity in denying this easily understood fact demonstrates the weakness of your argument. The actual misleading of culture is erasing gay people from history.

  • @gregorymcdpachsa I am afraid that the only weak argument here is yours, I have a long career both personal and scholar in studying and dealing with immigrants and Argentinian immigration had nothing to do with gay. Of course there might have been some gays among those who immigrated but if you want to set it on numbers, then 0,1% of immigrants immigrated to Argentina because they were gay. I hope you have at least understood I have nothing against gay people in the least, I believe in freedom.

  • @giadita Gay people have been a part of every culture and have often been a leading force in creating culture. King James of the King James Bible was gay. Now before your head explodes, look it up. Find the quotes from James about Buckingham among others.

  • @gregorymcdpachsa what does all of what you are saying have to do with my argument? I have never denied the existence nor the importance of gay culture. Why are you so paranoid about being persecuted? All I am saying is that there's not such a thing as "gay tango" and that labeling things and people is awfully wrong. If you were less paranoid you would get that I actually defend freedom of people (therefore their sexual choice) by pushing people to not label things nor others.

  • @giadita - I get what you're saying and I agree with you (and that people have misinterpreted your point).

But we're so paranoid about being persecuted because we *are* persecuted, and have been for a very long time. People shouldn't be so quick to get offended, but it's gonna take a while before gay and bi people don't have their defenses up all the time.

  • @DowneyAdmirer thanks Downey, I quit labeling things and people, I started from myself when I discovered I could be so many different things in a lifetime. The first step is always a bit scary, but once you take it you wish you had done it years before :)

  • Flashy stage tango. Not very interesting compared to the Argentine social dance.

  • That is gorgeous, I wish so much intesity in movement

  • awesome my goodness there feet move so fast

  • nothing to do with gay tango, this is only a REAL tango

  • @benluxembourg

Why the sensitivity about the adjective "gay"? When we see a man and woman dancing together, for example, Fred and Ginger, there is an suggestion of sexual tension between them. I certainly observe that tension in this dance.

Are most people indifferent when observing two men dancing together as compared to a man and a woman? Would not most believe that the two men are probably gay?

Yes, this is real tango. It is also gay.

  • @gregorymcdpachsa I agree this tango is gay and If people call this "gay tango" because its has different type of movements (i see some ballet and milonga there) from regular tango then ok. It is gay tango. but please don't say its gay tango just because two men are dancing it. and no, I'm not implying "gay" as a derogative term. I'm saying tango between man (as it was in it origins with the milonga) doesn't suggest homosexual attraction. it was a common thing to see back on the days.

  • @nebra Please do not try to erase the homosexual aspects of the origins of tango. Yes men were dancing together. This is often explained as lack of women available. However many of those men were gay and wanted to dance with men. Of course they were almost all immigrants, quite a few of whom left their countries because they could not live their lives there as gay men. Argentina was more free for them and they preferred a male community.

  • @gregorymcdpachsa I'm not erasing the homosexual aspects. I have no doubt that tango would be a good way to encounter between most homosexual men back in those days, but what I'm saying is that tango between men didn't came up because of that. correlation doesn't imply causation. And of course it wasn't because of lack of women, that is absurd and we both agree on that. They danced between men because they wanted to. no excuse. gay or not. you at least agree with me on the last part?

  • @nebra Cut the crap girls, fags in red pants, we all love it!

  • Why "gay tango" ?

It's simply two men dancing tango, like it used to be in BAs in the first times of tango.

What have the sexual preference of the dancers to deal with tango?

I'm male and not gay, but sometimes dance with a male friend of mine, because I like to practice even the follower role.

    IMHO there's not such a thing as a gay-tango or a not-gay-tango.

There's only tango and people who love dancing it.

Good performance, guys, I enjoied it. Thanks.

  • @ivancanaglia

Thank you for your comments. I use the word “gay” more to attract an audience that I believe is most likely to appreciate this dance than to describe the dance itself. However, just as there is a heterosexual aspect to most male/female couples dancing, there is a gay aspect to this presentation.

  • @ivancanaglia I admire your self confidence in dancing either role with a male partner. Most , but not all, straight men would be very uncomfortable with that. Perhaps some day we can practice tango together. I like dancing and interacting with confident men, straight or gay.

  • @gregorymcdpachsa dear gregory, I would love to dance with you or at the very least learn the very essence of this passionate dance from you. I love the video and what I saw is the beauty and the energy of the dance. share more of these videos. Btw, I'm gay and I would love to be able to dance at their level.
