  • Where are those two mammies nowadays?

  • That bass player is fuckin amazing!

  • @jakovasaur Agree... but please try to watch your language...swearing is not cool. Go listen to Bernie's bass line on Good Times....Amazing... Even better than this, if possible.

  • Is that Snoop Dogg at 1.51?!

  • @the81kid Snoop Dogg? You loco.

  • Roll bounce pops in my head, sweatness vs X.....

  • god the greatest tune ever

  • man that rift fuck this good

  • No pasa de moda Chic. Los admiro desde finales de los 70. Hacen una música discotequera selecta.

  • Es una de mis canciones favoritas. Este grupo es de largo uno de los mejores.

  • aaaaaaaafrica

  • @elsapatopipe aff said the freak to le Chic.lol.

  • @gud11man calm down buddy i was joking... hahaaaha are u virgin or...

  • My friend and I were checking for our "Birthday Song" and decided to back it up 9 months. Happy to say this is my "Conception Song" :D

  • Just found out that this song was #1 on my birth day... totally awesome!

  • GREAT Song, cool voices with Funky ass Bassline !!!! Mayn the 70's and 80's girls were sooooo sexy and classy !!!! Not cheap like a hooker. Im 22 years old. Too bad i wasnt born earlier :(

  • Chic- Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame 2013. VOTE!!

  • A lot of house music samples Chic

  • Amazing

  • @tnawcwvictoria Yeah so the point being that TV was a crappy product that did not keep cultural pace with the fantastic music industry of the time due to Aaron Spelling's dominance of the TV industry. Those shows are hardly worth re visiting 30 years later whereas the music of the era is even more popular now.

  • hated disco, loved CHIC...edwards (bass)/rodgers (guitar) also great producers/songwriters

  • After 2:45, orgasmic variations of bass.

  • c'est chic and that's all !

  • i definitely agree the guitar is really good but i dont really like that style of singing (not a big fan of disco). i wanted to listen to this band since I kept seeing Nile Rodgers as a producer/collaborator on things i like and he seems like a cool guy.

  • @jpsa5 correct!

  • Does the instumental at 1.55 do it for you? makes me shiver, and i long for the days when music had style meaning and they could play instuments as well. Dream on xfactor.

  • @lightlycrazed Its only an orgasm with the bass spewing forth its load at the end what are you going on about?

  • 7 = le dick

  • I learnt to dance to this tune when I was 9. We all learnt the bop at that age cos we thought it was kool. I musta looked foolish.

  • OMG thats some great guitar playing, why do people think that if you can shred means your the best guitarist? its not about the speed, its about how it sounds, how it hits the soul.

  • I hear they attempted to get into Studio 54 and got turned away at the door; I guess a Disco Act has to have a #1 on The Billboard Pop Charts before you gain entry. I must say this: They sure as hell were motivated. This was #1 for 6 weeks in 1978. Nice job, guys!

  • Bom Dia =o)

  • molto bella!

  • ¡¡SENSACIONAL!!

  • OMG, does this bring me back! What a great and classic dance hit. Those were the days when you couldn't wait for Friday & Saturday nights so you could put on your dance shoes and hit the dance clubs. Had so much fun back in the day!

  • Just listen to how good these two guys were at what they did, lead and bass, there was no two guys better! JUST LISTEN AT THEIR PLAY!

  • ELEGANT, CLASSY, DECENT ETC. THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. LOVE CHIC FOREVER!

  • I lost my virginity to this song.

  • I believe this was originally titled 'F*@K OFF' lol! Due to the fact that Nile Rodgers, & Bernard Edwards weren't allowed to get into Studio 54?! They were PO'D, so they came up with these lyrics, & the original, yet interesting title...

  • was born in `79.

  • Well for 1978 hell, It's was all lips back then, WTH? was a good song, and for the day, give them credit......Best disco song ever...

  • wish i had a 70's stingray ,just like bernard and his talent. He played the bass smooth and cool! Incredible ! plus i wish we had 1975 ..location states

  • Absolutely, utterly brilliant.

  • 3:32 dem violins..

  • i was sad of this music

  • I've had this bass line stuck in my head for several hours now...

  • its so sad how people started riots to end this fantastic music that sparked the nightclubs and partying and just plain old fun. People just wanted to have fun no matter age race anything. now look what we have...people talking fast to a fake rythym.T There will never be an era like the disco...but i sure wish some how there would be. *DISCOLIVES*

  • a good group of talented artists, not like todays crap we are spoon fed every saturday night!!, who will remember 'twat cardle' in 30+ years time???

  • Muito bom, e Contra- baixo e Guitarra mandão muito bem,

    parabéns pelo video, abraço.

  • That transparent guitar is sick, I want 10. And I can't even play guitar.

  • aaaaaaaaah ,, FREAK OOUT!! XD

  • como descargo el video muy bueno

  • Chic's Le Freak was and still is one of THE Best Dance Songs EVER

God Bless The Group and R.I.P. Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson

and this song was out when SOAP, Diff'rent Strokes, The Jeffersons, WKRP in Cincinnati, Challenge of the SuperFriends, Starsky & Hutch, The Original Charlie's Angels, Dallas, The Waltons, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Joker's Wild, The NEW Tic Tac Dough, Card Sharks w/Jim Perry, High Rollers w/Alex Trebek and Family Feud w/Richard Dawson were still on the air

  • @tnawcwvictoria In fact, my dear, of ALL dance songs ever made, this is the ONE and ONLY dance song ever to hit Number One on the Billboard pop chart... and return to the top spot twice after falling to bank the historic happening of hitting it THREE TIMES.

  • 687534291000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000078645000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000132000000000000000000000000000000000000000

  • @piligwapo ... how did you work out how often i listen to this in a day?

  • Ahhh f*** y**! The original vocals.

  • 5 persons think that le freak c'est (non) chic

  • Ha Ha look at the video where slash comes on in this song!!!!!!

  • Nile and Bernard and Tony were the original 6-legged groove machine, everything worked perfectly and so understated and without overt flash, just pure feel.

There was dance music before Chic and afterwards but it never got this good before or since.

  • Bernard Edwards is a monster on the bass. One of my favorite bass lines of all time. His bass line at the end of the extended break still causes my brain to lock up trying to understand what he actually played.

  • @wfiveash

    Glissando, then turnaround: G A A F# G G# A (back in tonic).

  • Those violinists are HOT!! Don´t know with which one I´d rather be...the asian one is gorgeous, but the blonde makes me drool....and the brunette gives me goosebumps....hell, I would sacrifice and be with the 3 of them...

  • If a genie comes and tells me "I will grant you the ability of any musician you want " I would inmediately say "give me Bernaaaaard´s bass skills". I wouldn´t want anything else. To think I heard this when it was new, and I was just a child, and still makes me move like crazy.

  • i was 7 when this came out.i have always liked disco

  • Lush

  • Nile, Bernard, Tony... damn these cats buuuuuuuurrrrrrrrned!!!

  • GREAT song but don't bring back this kind of music, the music industry would ruin this kind of masterpiece and many other funky songs from the 70's to the 80's with the stuff !!! modern House music did it already..

  • putain, la ligne de basse......mortel

  • YIIIIAAAAAHHHHAAA sooo fine girls and they are sourrunded by cooool looking dudes in ugly clothing and heeeey what hairdooes!!! Man i love it blows your mind and nose!!!!

  • Four people are deaf and are angry because they can not feel this groove.

  • Excelent!!! ♥

  • bellìsimas!!!

  • Thumbs up if you want revive disco style!

  • this is the jam at the gay clubs

  • I love this, thank you. I love the bass...

  • This song is why I play bass and have for 25 years now.

Hope there is a Groove and Funk section in heaven.

  • Tell me Bernard Edwards, have u ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

No but i stole his guitar and spanked its arse

Tell me was it worth it?

    Have you heard Le Freak?

    Ok point taken...

  • I do not know what the tapir not like it!!!!

  • R.I.P....MR LEE VINES.....keyboard player

  • 70s vs. 80s?

    .

I'd like to see 70s vs. 2000s - see which dance music holds up better. Live disco with real instruments or modern stuff with Autotuned singers/ notes

    .

  • @electrictroy2010 no not 70's vs 80's because 70's and the 80's were the best era of music.

I wanna see 70's vs 2000's music. Real music vs autotune lollipop gabbish crap music.

  • enjoy it & dance

  • Back then the talk was of the "disco" sound, and the dancing! Talk of the musical ability was neglected, therefore, most RnR cats, like myself just a kid, didn't like disco. We wanted Van Halen, Kiss, Zepp, the Nuge, etc. Most comments on the 'tube these days are from musicians who can now appreciate how great the players were.

  • Freaking legends! Kids will still be dancing their asses off to this in 50 years time....just as I was last night.

  • jadore chic meme les sister trop cool un francais du canada ca me rapelle mon epoque les annees 80

  • Just have to let you all know Le Freak involved touching all body parts...

  • haha feel the rhythm """ aaaah Fuck Off."" digo Freak out!!!!

  • @CATTYKARINA Eso es lo que pasó, lo leí en Wikipedia jajaja

  • Glorious music and magnificent performance. Excellent stuff!

  • Nile Rogers, Funk Guitar God

  • Es increíble la puntuación que tiene este vídeo mas de dos años 664 votos positivos contra 3 negativos el mejor votado de todos que he visto

  • Nice Guitar!

  • Somebody remind me, disco is bad because....?

  • @WrestlingHeretic Disco was always good. The problem was (1) by 1979 some ppl had equated disco to the gays and druggies and (2) that stupid "I hate disco" stunt in Chicago (July 1979) caught on and made some ppl think disco was bad and un-American, that Rock was the correct "American" entertainment.

  • @WrestlingHeretic Because about 90% of disco really sucks......this is the best of the best

  • @WrestlingHeretic There were a lot of good disco singles. There were a lot of bad disco albums.

  • rip mr edwards

  • Please, CHIC to Hall of Fame... this eternal groove cannot stay unhonored

  • Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards great performance = D

  • Asi es, una excelente canción, pero te has super equivocado en algo muy importante. El grupo se llama CHIC ........ el nombre de la canción es LE FREAK. Tu lo has escrito al revés. Saludos.

  • trop bien :)

  • When I listen to this my pelvic region can't stop gyrating back and forth.

  • Thanks God for music like this. This kind of music makes me a little bit happier and put me in a "better" mood for a while.

  • @LowRagg ..no violent,hate,crime ...just love&music.

  • @LowRagg MAN - it's so amazing to make real MUSIC and not use vulgarity. This stuff had LEGS to it; it still walks this many years later. The vulgar rap crap is insulting to the African-American race and is FORGETTABLE!!!!
