  • Epicly done, mdotstrange- *ahem* Rrrrrrrrricardo!

Many must be punched in the face for their lack of subtext!

  • old ppl like being preached to

  • HAHAHHA

Ricardo! Lol, and i luv how he said M dot Strahnjay LOL

And the random pause at the end after "Good Night". M Dot Strange is the best

  • is it possible to overuse subtext

  • your post is quite old but I'll reply anyway lol...

I think you shouldn't use subtext when you can tell something (tell, not show) that is not very relevant to the story. if you do, my guess it that it will look confusing because you're using subtext for something that's not important, thus deceving the audience into thinking something about your work that won't be true.

    But that's just my opinion.

  • bloodrunsclear, directors think their audences are a bunch of idiots because that is the message given. Granted there are many people who can understand the hella mega awsomeness of subtext, but there are many who cant. Those who cant are the majority of film watchers. an easy way to tell these morons from intellegent people is the fact that many of them feel it necessary for them to clap during parts of a movie. Maybe if they clap loud enough, the actors will magicly hear them...

  • Finally, a person with common sense. Most of the so called "film fans" I know hardly ever notice anything. When I ask them questions such as, "What did you think of that camera angle?" or "Do you like the lighting of the film?" or simple questions like that, they simply say, "Wha-? What camera angle? All I like is that so-and-so actor is in the film and that it's a funny movie..."

  • ROFL, 5 stars!!! Brilliant!!! I was thinking this was going to be about the use of subtitles in WATS, which was interesting. I liked how the subtitles changed color to match how the words were said, so in a way that IS subtext right? It's text subtext for the subtitles right???

  • You're channeling Burton, but with the voice of Borat.

Subtext is severely lacking in film nowadays, primarily because directors think their audience is made up of idiots who can't understand subtlety.

  • xD Hella Mega Awesome.

    MY NEW FAVORITE PHRASE!

Thank you Rrrrrrrrrricardo. We all love you.

    -huggle-

    ...

    -flee-

  • lol, thanks for the lesson man, but was the accent necessary?

  • No... but I have to have fun acting st00pid every once in a while or I'll get bored ^ ^

  • Very interesting. I hope to become a filmmaker myself.

  • could do without that silly accent its just annoying :S

  • Kevin Smith disagrees

  • I'm so happy an "ADULT" is playing a Nintendo DS! He ain't afraid of nobody. That's what I like about a person.

  • OMFG sorry had to comment right away after this. see ima an animation student cant sayim a great student or any good still a noob :P but i undertand subtext and use it always in anything i think up as i like the mind blowing effect it can have if used right.:P subtext is important... dont like you i have my reasons but i agree with....

  • FINNALY i can use this too!!! i wish more people were like you

    Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrricardo

  • FINALLY!!! Knowledge I can use :D

  • Wow....i've been using subtext all along and I didn't even know it! Thanks RRRRRRICARDO!!! you've taught me a valuable lesson in film!

  • Very informative. The only problem i had with this "lesson" was that it contained no subtext of its own and was therefor punch worthy. I think a good idea would have been to wear a neck brace for some reason thereby depicting, subtextually, that movies, animation, etc that don't contain subtext are a real pain in the neck. Just food for thought.

  • LOL "if you do that, someone will PUNCH you! ...maybe that kid with the icecream, he is very violent"

for some reaosn, I can't imagine M being violent xD

Yeah, too much lines get so cheesy....wish some producers would learn a lesson from your books.

  • Ah but the 'M' on his forehead means he sold his soul to a evil wizard for mad power

  • Too much subtext though gets annoying, while I liked "Lost in Translation" the whole movie was subtext. You risk alienating your audience with too much, I guess depends how smart they are.

  • I give what my audience whatever I can if I was him, they'll learn to like it. Some of them will really relate, and most of them probably will take more than 2 seasons to acknolidge what I write.

  • Ok ok I'll teach the next class and not Ricardo XD If your tardy to the next class I'll give you Saturday Skool because I'm like way more mega_stricter than Rrrrrricardo!!!

  • Rrrrrrricardo is awesome but so r u ^_^

  • where u get da wig??lol

  • That was very informative ^_^

  • I agree that film today is often too literal, and it does make for "cheesy" scenes. Although part of the reason for it is people don't always want to read into film in order to extract meaning from it, which I guess is both good and bad. Nice accent though I can't ever keep up the eastern euro thing for that long.

  • ricardo is north african who went to sicily changed his name to latin form =]

  • Film Skool nice. Ricardo not so nice.

  • GunXSword is indeed hellamegaawsome.

  • That was great! Thanx!

  • Will you get back to work already?

  • dude cut him some slack

  • Please don't ever use Ricardo again.

  • I agree :)

  • he rocks!!lol

  • they need o be a wee bit shorter... Y DONT YOU GET A DIRECTOR ACOUNT

  • Awome, useful shit.

  • was that supposed to be jamacian? it sucked big time. good vid though

  • all these other commenters clearly don't get it... they are responding directly... without subtext!!

    a good response would be:

*hungrily looks at youtube video... smiles... places thumb and forefinger on chin and looks contemplatively at computer screen while blinking ferociously*

  • wheres ricardo from exactly? he has a latin name with and indian accent O.o ... oh well hahaha

hey! im just noticing that you always use the same clothes!!! XD

  • thanks Rrrrrrricardo !!!

  • I am now feeling more smart! I mean... I like (I feel smart!) your new video!

  • I feel so much smarter now. I'll use subtext more often! :D

  • oh that wa- GET BACK TO WORK!-s great (subliminal)

  • I hate when characters say what they are feeling, that makes me so angry!

  • "Films, Anime, & Comic books are the only reason worth living.." the Wisdom of MDot

  • i have a nintendo ds too ^_^ what games do u have?? 5/5 i think you should continue this school think it is funny and it teaches

  • subtext subtext subtext (looks around warily)...yes yes yes

  • I pretty much already knew this, but it was interesting nonetheless, I'll be sure to implement it more in my comics now that I know its more important then I gave it credit for

  • sounds like count dracula,ha ha ha

  • As funny as these videos are, they waste production time. Make demented videos when you're DONE with We Are the Strange!
