@acedrummer2590 The XT22 is on top of the Train Museum and there are 2 STH-10s in Ellis. One is at the High School and the other one I found is on W 3rd St just east of Taylor St.
***** The calm maturity, awareness and healthy curiosity of the video maker and narrator is exemplary. Tornado chasers learn from this video when to talk and when to hush. The award goes to the best line in both Parts 1 and 2 — "You can go out and buy a lightbulb during a tornado siren, but you can't get a haircut!" A quote for the ages. There is also great sensitivity and love for Ellis, Kansas by this guy. Maggie Z's photos are excellent. A true video as national document!
wow they actually made it seem cool to be in a tornado and they were care free as if it happened all the time well they live in kansas so..... but it actually made me less scared thx guys
No kidding. These people actually respect one another and their property. Besides, I am sure that looters would get shot dead and no one would care. Certainly not the cops.
It seems you guys live really close to some 2T22 sirens. That must have been a scary time. A couple months ago, june to be exact, i was at home when i got home from swimming practice. My mom was in florida and i was all alone at home. My uncle would come to my house to check to make sure i was ok. (He lives in Brunswick, Ohio) There was a tornado watch for Lucas county. (I live in Cuyahoga county, outside of cleveland) and i didnt know what to do, but the tornado got faded out of the storm.
I love your videos, they were very very well done. Now days with you tube your probably going to see more people carrying a camera as they take cover in their basements.
my home got a tornado. it didn't hurt my house but it did destroy my yard and travel trailer. plus all of my sheds and dog fence. my dogs are fine though. that was an awsome video.
my hometown of manhattan go hit by a tornado on june 11th 2008. thankfully our house didn't get hit. although kansas state university got hit. also i was in hawaii when it hit.
After this day happened I had to go to Jr. CYO camp, this wasn't really a good way to be excited on leaving, wondering when you came back that the your town-Hays-would be distroyed by another tornado.
I live a town away from where the tornadoes hit-- Hays, KS. We were lucky that our uncle that lives there was in Russell that day with his family- we can thank God for that, and also for not hitting Hays
I chased this storm in rooks county and I ended up getting hit by the second tornado and got some damage to my truck. these storms ment serious business
We are from Kansas City-passing through Ellis enroute to Colorado when we encountered the storm. We took shelter in the gas station pictured in this video minutes before the first tornado hit. It very scary! We could hear the rumbling/rattling,feel the walls bowing, even feeling the wind from inside the storage closet we were in. The employees took great care of us(thank you!)and we were lucky to remain safe. Thanks for showing us what we experienced on the outside-it's almost unbelievable!
You know you have lived in Tornado Alley your whole life when you stay outside watching the tornados until they are right on top of you...haha...it was amazing how 2 blocks away from me got hit but we barely had any twigs...great footage!
Thats no shit. 2 days later when the sirens went off again (I'm in Hays), we had cops driving around telling us to go inside/seek shelter, and I was outside watching the whole time. :)
Holy Shit! That is so scary! I feel so bad for your area. I am glad that you guys were ok. I feel so bad for those people who died. Very excellent video! You did a great job explaning what happend in detail.
