Well youtube just isn't for music videos & groin shot vids. I actually taught myself photoshop by watching pretty much every PS tutorial on youtube & then scouring the rest of the web for more. I'm sure you could learn a plethora of things just watching youtube tutorials.

Hi, I can see ur a fan of photoshop. But maybe this will help u a bit. Try using path's if u don't really know what they are try looking up some tutorials for it. They are way more effective then the lasso tool, and will help u a great deal . -Hopli-

I'm a big fan of the pen tool actually, most self taught users don't know how to use it properly for selection but that magical alt key changes everything. Anyway paths is a great way to do things though. I've moved on to Louise Royo like painting now, so paths aren't the greatest for that. I don't think I've touched the useless lasso tool in months & months now.

Selecting with freehand lasso is a waste of time. Get the wand tool, go to lineart layer, select the area you want to fill with the colour and then go back to the colour layer, and fill the colour with paint bucket in there. Simple.
Now THAT is a waste of time. This was done when I was still a noob. Anyway, I prefer just draw using my Wacom now, & then use the pen tool to make selections for color fill.
True but I was a total noob when I made this... Oh & your way is wrong too. it works (sort of) but the BEST way is to use the pen tool for selection, the wand won't get everything & you end up have to go in & manually paint spot which is time consuming & annoying. Paths is the fastest & easiest way to do it to be honest. Pen is the most precise. It's like the lasso but with out literally tracing EVERY line.

Wacom=BEST PERIPH. EVER! Not just for artists either. They just won an award for the tablet being such an ergonomic periph. I suggest anyone who uses a computer for more than 4 hrs a day gets one. Took me about a week to get totally used it. I eventually just stopped using my mouse at all for regular stuff. That's also the best way to get used to it too. Just use it for all your navigating. Sux for gaming but it you use it with Evernote OMFG no more typing IMS! Just write 'em! WOOT!

You have to creat a new ancher point each time by holding the alt key when clicking, That's the secret to the pen tool. the when you've got your area done just right click & change to selection. Sad since the trippy BG I made contrasts with Miki PERFECTLY. It tells the mood of the manga in 1 simple image. An innocent girl in what starts out like a shoju gets sucked into this mystical story of suspense, love, & action, & drama.

Actually, I recieved the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement signed by Bill Clinton back in like 1997 for a bunch of traditonal art I did, including community service stuff. So yeah, I've done some non computer stuff in my time ^_^ LOL. Also refer to my other Miki video!
No offense taken, buddy. Mark has his style & though I tried I some what failed at trying to copy it. The reason being not that I lack skill, he's just got a VERY unique style & any experienced manga artist can back me up on that. It's 50% of why I loved Miki si much. Just go to Best Buy or any other,major electronics store. I got my Wacom Intuos 3 tablet at Best Buy for $200 which a is a pretty reasonable price too.
Um I'm not calling you stupid or ignorant but um... A Wacom Tablet is a pen & board you write with, a mouse is a mouse. I guess you just haven't messed with them but you could do the math just from that brief description. They're WAYYYYYYYYYYYY easier! Take a couple days to a week to get used to but once you do the mouse will get dusty from disuse. I use my Wacom for EVERYTHING!
I know this is an old video but have you learned how to do selection masking with a paint brush? It looks like your technique is to rough out a selection and then clean up the lines. This could be pretty intensive if you're overlapping a lot of other areas. Instead you could go into the selection mask and rough/correct the selection before dropping in the color. Then to shade a subset just erase part of the selection and refill.
LOL I just love how you username matches your comment so well! Yeah, I learned that. Typically though, for this sort of coloring I just use the pen tool & create selection or vector mask.

Sad since the trippy BG I made contrasts with Miki PERFECTLY. It tells the mood of the manga in 1 simple image. An innocent girl in what starts out like a shoju gets sucked into this mystical story of suspense, love, & action, & drama.

+10 internetz exp for froastwolf. LOL. Imagine painting with oils sans the terrible mess the chance of ruining it all in one screw up & waiting forever for it to dry. PHOTOSHOP FTW!

Actually, I recieved the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement signed by Bill Clinton back in like 1997 for a bunch of traditonal art I did, including community service stuff. So yeah, I've done some non computer stuff in my time ^_^ LOL. Also refer to my other Miki video!

No offense taken, buddy. Mark has his style & though I tried I some what failed at trying to copy it. The reason being not that I lack skill, he's just got a VERY unique style & any experienced manga artist can back me up on that. It's 50% of why I loved Miki si much. And yes I've got a Miki video in which I did everything traditional! Check it out & comment please! I tried to the best of my ability to do one the same way he did the covers. I sux @ watercolor but it came out ok in the end.

Just go to Best Buy or any other,major electronics store. I got my Wacom Intuos 3 tablet at Best Buy for $200 which a is a pretty reasonable price too.

Um I'm not calling you stupid or ignorant but um... A Wacom Tablet is a pen & board you write with, a mouse is a mouse. I guess you just haven't messed with them but you could do the math just from that brief description. They're WAYYYYYYYYYYYY easier! Take a couple days to a week to get used to but once you do the mouse will get dusty from disuse. I use my Wacom for EVERYTHING!

I know this is an old video but have you learned how to do selection masking with a paint brush? It looks like your technique is to rough out a selection and then clean up the lines. This could be pretty intensive if you're overlapping a lot of other areas. Instead you could go into the selection mask and rough/correct the selection before dropping in the color. Then to shade a subset just erase part of the selection and refill.

LOL I just love how you username matches your comment so well! Yeah, I learned that. Typically though, for this sort of coloring I just use the pen tool & create selection or vector mask.
