The sound of the distorted guitar has been perfected over the years, and I think it's possible to do the same with a violin too.

very good, but in my opinion, that's not exactly the way the violin should be used...it sounds exactly the same as the e. guitar and there is not much point of using the violin. The violin should retain it's clear tone and play like a god.

i don't really think it sounds the same as the lead guitar. it has a uniquely violin sound if you're actually listening. a big part of playing any musical instrument is experimenting with different tone and "sound colors" to effectively express the music thats stuck inside your head

The violin is using distortion. People two hundred years ago would have said that the guitar wasn't meant to be used like it is today. I do agree with you on the fact that the violin sounds better clean.
