Your definition of agnosticism is a little off. It's not a belief, and it's not saying that we can't know a particular thing. It's simply the position that you don't claim to know something; agnostic literally means without knowledge. Agnosticism does not entail or describe a belief system, but can be a qualifier. By your self description, you are an agnostic atheist (you don't believe in a god or higher power, that's atheism in a nutshell).

I completely agree. These are all the things I think when it comes to religion. I've been in so many arugments with people over these same exact subjects. they usually end up saying and ending the conversation saying "i'll pray for you" and i say "don't bother"

Let me start by saying nice video! I also want to point out that I think you got the definition of atheism wrong. The most broad definition is "lacking a belief in God or gods." In general, the atheism-theism spectrum encompases belief, and the agnostic-*gnostic spectrum encompases knowledge. That's all more accademic though, and people tend use the words slightly differently from their strict dictionary definitions, and that's okay.

I've been in a Catholic family all my life, good people who have good morals. At about the time I was 16 I began to question reality, simply because people seem to be mixed up in the fantasies of the daily media too much.
Over the years it grew from agnosticism to flat out atheism. it's not that I believe God doesn't exist, its not that I don't want there to be a God, its just that I can't believe a God exists, it does not seem right to me.
i'm sorry but your definition of atheism is wrong. An atheist is someone who doesn't believe their is a god but does not believe it is impossible because there is no proof one way or the other but the organized religions gods can be said that they are wrong and not real. A deistic god is the only one who could even be close to possible but i am an atheist who believes that the idea of a god to absolutely silly and just a general mass delusion.

Well this would be an ok view of belief however it does not account for a solution to the problems caused by irrational beliefs. Truth is the same for everyone. We are all humans. We function just about the same. Fire burns everyone. These kinds of facts are true for ALL. This is where we can judge other people's beliefs to be absurd or logically valid. As someone that was raised as a catholic who made a transition to agnosticism I know what you mean about the transition. It was a scary thing for me to go through for many reasons, but I am glad I when through it and that I am an agnostic. It has been a few years since I became an agnostic and it has only grown stronger.
The only way this outlook can work for someone, is if you are truly an ignorant person, a "dummy" in life. Which off-course she agreed with..."I really don't care to find the answers of life." But to be honest, I'm just jealous, I wish that I too could come to such simple conclusions.
My only problem with the label of agnosticism is you reach a certain point where something becomes a possibility for instance one could be agnostic about intelligent life outside our atmosphere thats a realistic idea, but for one to be agnostic about a pink fire breathing dragon that speaks English.. you reach a certain point that isn't a realistic perception and that is how I feel about religion after reading the bible, and studying different elements of it.
Atheism is not the absolute denial of any possibility of divinity. If you are not convinced that a deity necessarily exists, then you are atheist. By your own description, you are an atheist. Embrace it.
Coming from an agnostic atheist, I loved your video! You touched on a lot of things I try to explain to people who doubt me and my values. Especially the bit about being a good person. I'm usually a good person, with a few very human flaws, but I'm told I'll go to hell anyway because I haven't spent my time worshiping a particular higher power. To be quite honest, that isn't anyone I want to worship. That is a tyrant and a dictator and definitely not a father figure.
Kids don't have much choice, thats what religion its for... try too keep then out the choices. If all of they know are hell and heave the pope would be happy.
If your asking me for proof for why I am an atheist or why I think God or God(s) don't exist, I say all of science is evidence, Physics, Astronomy, etc etc, then there is the logic of it. Define God? Any definition. You can find factual verifiable concepts in science that contradict all these definitions. I personally have no doubts that there is no God, hence, Atheist... if I wasn't sure about it I would be agnostic and I wouldn't have enough evidence to say God does or doesn't exist.
You are agnostic, not atheist you may not be a "Christian" or a "Hindu" or whatever definable religion, but atheism by definition is the affirmation that God or God(s) do not exist period. Agnostic is not knowing whether or not God or God(s) do or don't exist.
I fully agree with everything in this video. In my opinion it is stupid to believe that just because you don't except Jesus as your savior that you will go to Hell. I believe as long as I make choices I feel are right for me, and me alone, then I'm living my life well. I believe there is something in the end, but maybe not Heaven or Hell.

@msDivineDelight There is no real free will. The way our body and brain are wired is based on what was beneficial for us in the past. That is the reason why we have neuropsychology. Because our brain has a structure. We abide by the laws of physics just like everything else.

Your definition of agnosticism is right on. Definition of atheism is off somewhat. Certainty is not part of the definition; it's simply a lack of belief. Dawkins is not certain. I am not certain. I am an agnostic atheist - agnostic toward the gods who cannot be known, atheist toward the ones which are demonstrably false.

He gave us free will. That's what makes him loving. He lets us make our own choices, despite the fact that he knows what we're doing may be wrong. Yeah, he'll try to help us in indirect ways, but if we ignore the help then there's nothing he can do if you turn away from him, except wait until judgement day when we come up to him. most people find it very hard to believe that this life is all we have and that's where all this religion comes from. It always bothers me when people ask me "Do you believe in Jesus?" The more appropriate question would be "Do you believe in God?". Jesus Christ WAS a real person. The question is whether or not someone believes he was the Messiah and the son of God. The same question could be asked of any person who was claimed to be a Messiah. I dunno. Atheism doesn't mean as you say that god doesn't exist, it means that the person who is atheist doesn't believe in a god. In fact, you can be either an agnostic atheist, or a gnostic atheist. The former is you, a person who thinks it's not possible to know whether a god exists and doesn't believe in such. Gnostic atheist on the other hand says he KNOWS there is no god and therefore doesn't believe in it

Your definition of agnosticism is a little off. It's not a belief, and it's not saying that we can't know a particular thing. It's simply the position that you don't claim to know something; agnostic literally means without knowledge. Agnosticism does not entail or describe a belief system, but can be a qualifier. By your self description, you are an agnostic atheist (you don't believe in a god or higher power, that's atheism in a nutshell).

Let me start by saying nice video! I also want to point out that I think you got the definition of atheism wrong. The most broad definition is "lacking a belief in God or gods." In general, the atheism-theism spectrum encompases belief, and the agnostic-*gnostic spectrum encompases knowledge. That's all more accademic though, and people tend use the words slightly differently from their strict dictionary definitions, and that's okay.

Hm. Interesting. @1:00 "religion[..]get someone's hopes up [..] motivated" etc. It would be cool/weird if there were religious people who claim to be of, say, religion X, but don't want to be. That is, they DON'T feel motivated by it, or that it gives them meaning, but for some reason think that that religion is "correct" and are forced to stay in that religion.
Most likely, those who use reason and think things through end up leaving religion, so these cases probably don't exist in real life.

I've been in a Catholic family all my life, good people who have good morals. At about the time I was 16 I began to question reality, simply because people seem to be mixed up in the fantasies of the daily media too much.
Over the years it grew from agnosticism to flat out atheism. it's not that I believe God doesn't exist, its not that I don't want there to be a God, its just that I can't believe a God exists, it does not seem right to me.

An atheist is someone who doesn't believe their is a god but does not believe it is impossible because there is no proof one way or the other but the organized religions gods can be said that they are wrong and not real. A deistic god is the only one who could even be close to possible but i am an atheist who believes that the idea of a god to absolutely silly and just a general mass delusion.

I'd like to know how you reason about this. To me, deism is about a god that _intentionally_ or _intelligently_ created things. But the term intelligence is otherwise only used for a phenomenon that we have observed in certain high-level complex biological systems, quite recently on the cosmological time scale. If you're interested in investigating eastern philosophy, I'd recommend the work of Alan Watts or looking up channels such as "pathlesspath," there is a video entitled "Atheism Reflections 2" and "Return to the Breath" in particular. There's also such channels as Shunyamurti, etc.
People think proof of God will be delivered in one hands, the fact of the matter is folks, it comes through the mind.

It was a scary thing for me to go through for many reasons, but I am glad I when through it and that I am an agnostic. My only problem with the label of agnosticism is you reach a certain point where something becomes a possibility for instance one could be agnostic about intelligent life outside our atmosphere thats a realistic idea, but for one to be agnostic about a pink fire breathing dragon that speaks English.. you reach a certain point that isn't a realistic perception and that is how I feel about religion after reading the bible, and studying different elements of it.

Coming from an agnostic atheist, I loved your video! You touched on a lot of things I try to explain to people who doubt me and my values. Especially the bit about being a good person. I'm usually a good person, with a few very human flaws, but I'm told I'll go to hell anyway because I haven't spent my time worshiping a particular higher power. If your asking me for proof for why I am an atheist or why I think God or God(s) don't exist, I say all of science is evidence, Physics, Astronomy, etc etc, then there is the logic of it. Define God? Any definition. You can find factual verifiable concepts in science that contradict all these definitions. I personally have no doubts that there is no God, hence, Atheist... if I wasn't sure about it I would be agnostic and I wouldn't have enough evidence to say God does or doesn't exist.

@msDivineDelight There is no real free will. The way our body and brain are wired is based on what was beneficial for us in the past. That is the reason why we have neuropsychology. Because our brain has a structure. We abide by the laws of physics just like everything else.
I cannot choose for example not to be upset when a loved one dies. I am biologically hardwired to feel despair. Even your logic and 'free will' are hardwired. You make decisions based on how your personal brains composition.

He gave us free will. That's what makes him loving. He lets us make our own choices, despite the fact that he knows what we're doing may be wrong. Yeah, he'll try to help us in indirect ways, but if we ignore the help then there's nothing he can do if you turn away from him, except wait until judgement day when we come up to him. It always bothers me when people ask me "Do you believe in Jesus?" The more appropriate question would be "Do you believe in God?". Jesus Christ WAS a real person. The question is whether or not someone believes he was the Messiah and the son of God. The same question could be asked of any person who was claimed to be a Messiah. I dunno. Probably already adressed in the comments before, but what you say arounf 2:40 is incorrect.
Atheism doesn't mean as you say that god doesn't exist, it means that the person who is atheist doesn't believe in a god. In fact, you can be either an agnostic atheist, or a gnostic atheist. The former is you, a person who thinks it's not possible to know whether a god exists and doesn't believe in such. Gnostic atheist on the other hand says he KNOWS there is no god and therefore doesn't believe in it

Also, no offense, but saying "your god fucking sucks" does not help you with your "I hope people don't judge me cuz I don't believe in religion thing" because after watching that im pissed. And I don't feel like I have to read or believe what I hear in the bible. I read the bible because I DO believe what it's saying and I WANT to learn from the word of god. So to start I know there is a bunch of comments saying" I hope this wil make you a believer again bla bla bla" or " I hope thus can fix ur religion" well first of all there is nothing wrong with you or what you believe. Some of what you are saying does make sense but i don disagree with you in a couple subjects. I really don't think that if you just tell god I love you you get into the "party in the clouds" I don't even think it has to do with being a Christian your whole life yadda yadda yadda

god didnt create the devil he was a perfect angel but he wanted to be god so thats how he became a devil god also didnt create violence he created people with brains and every person thinks diffrently and some stupit people decided to do stupit things in life god gave us choices you could either pick the bad one or the good one and its not something to be proven to you..you feel his presence when you need him the most i hope this helped you a little but great video

@PASQUELY - You're claiming that god made a perfect angel... which became satan. Doesn't sound very perfect to me. Might that have been a mistake your god made?
And no one has perfect free choice. Do kids born in Saudi Arabia have a choice in what religion they're raised? Do kids born in Somalia have a choice of whether there's a drought and famine or not? Do you have a choice of whether you can flap your wings and fly?
We do make choices, and they are important. But they are not totally free.

Alright Kalriba, I do not have the time to explain why god exist to you. But, if you look up a video called who created god? Theres a video by "VenomFangX" who explains in under 10 minutes how god exist. It will blow ur mind when u watch it because in under 10 min you will be a believer once again. It talks about the biggest questions ignostics and athiest have and completely solves them. Plz check it out....

i have the EXACT same views. you're blowing my mind with you saying the things that iv'e said to others when they question me. my mum my older sister & i are agnostic atheist's, my dad is an atheist, and my 11 yr old brother claims to be a christian. we don't have a problem with that, but i know for a fact that he only thinks he is because of the ppl in his school. i hope that when he is older that he'll at least question whatever religion he takes on, & not follow blindly like so many.

God didn't allow any terrible things to happen. he gives us free will because he doesnt want to force us into being a Christian.
faith is seeing without believing, what if there is a God, which i believe there is ..
My God doesnt suck, He gave people a choice to accept him and if you dont accept Him, He wont accept you

this is almost exactly how i think its old heiring someone share thoughts that are so alike to mine i wish more people thought the way you and i do when i tell people of the what i believe they see me as a person i need of repair but it is just what i believe

as i have said before you do inspire me and what you have just said right now is not going to change that all i am trying to say is that god did create death murder and well all that because the first humans that where made betrayer him ( Adam and Eva) and the people that he created have taken really bad decisions like stooping believing in him however god did not create the devil he envied god and wanted to be as powerful as him god refused and he got really mad i still admire you ok bye

it actually has been proven, that Jesus was a real, living person.
if you studied the accent romans, and around the time of Julias Caesar, you would know that there is record of a man named Jesus living during those times, and it was during those times that Christianity and God and Christ were spread as a religion.
As you may be educated in what you want to believe, you very under educated in what you don't believe.

if i die and find out there is a god, im going to punch him(or her(it?)) in the jaw before i go to hell. atheists "beleive" god does not exist rather than questioning gods existance(agnostics). KNOWing that god does not exist would be the finale answer, especially to those who have died atheists/agnostics in my view, nihilsts in the end.

I am just like you before me and my parents would read the bible pray and do other stuff it never really made me believe there was a god NO ONE IN THE WORLD HAS PROOF! scientist no they dont know where did they get the proof from?! i will believe it when i see it right in my eyes. I never told my parents that i dont believe in god. im not saying there is one and im not saying there isnt one no one knows. when i die i dont know where ill go hell heaven or wherever thats where i will end up
